Web design : What do you think will be the big trends of 2017?

So many times I've been asked my opinions when my clients want a new and cutting edge web design. I always have to tell them what is considered "modern" today in forms of web design and usually they like what they see. The only problem is that I suggest some things that are pretty extensive with design and programming but the client doesn't want to pay for them lol Web design : What do you think will be the big trends of 2017?

But I'm not posting this to talk about my clients. I want to know what you think the next big design trends will be in 2017.

I'll go first Web design : What do you think will be the big trends of 2017?

Extremely Simple Homepages: We've all seen simple homepages with a thousand words on them and some fancy images, but that's too crazy for some people nowadays because too many of them get distracted easily. Extremely simple homepages will basically be a header with a link that says "Menu" and is a drop down. It will have a large slider with some images and a "Buy Now" or some other call to action. Some lines of content that gets the point across. And finally a very basic footer with your contact information. I'm not saying it's the best thing ever, but if you study some of the bigger websites, this is the route they're already going Web design : What do you think will be the big trends of 2017?

VR (Virtual Reality) Websites: Now this hasn't been done that I know of, but I see it coming because of all the VR devices getting launched. Think of a VR website as a sort of virtual tour of a website and what is offered on it. If you were at a car dealership you could actually get inside the car you wanted to purchase and see what it is like prior to actually leaving your house Web design : What do you think will be the big trends of 2017? You could also go on Ebay and hold the item you're wanting to buy at a discounted price to see if it's exactly what you want. The possibilities are crazy with a VR type of website. This would be similar to how a website can be responsive for mobile devices. Now people would have to code in a way that their items or whatever could be seen on a VR device Web design : What do you think will be the big trends of 2017?

Well those are just 2 ideas I have of what could potentially happen next year in the web design world.

What do you guys and girls think?

Oh man Razzy, I think a virtual reality website would be seriously awesome but that must be the one where everyone says its too expensive right? That must cost a bomb to do but I am sure it will be the way of the future!

I wonder who will be the first to go with that? I bet some of the big car brands are busy with that already? I know my husband would spend all day taking virtual tours and virtual test drives, chowing up my internet connection haha. Seriously I can just picture that. I'm sure that will be huge one day.

I like the extremely simple homepages, I love plain and simple!

I have no idea what the next trend could be but i like your idea of simple home pages. So many people who still do not have the knowledge to move around on the internet well. You want your website to be inviting and easy to use so this could be a big trend this year to come. Good idea good topic thank you for sharing.

I think that over the past few years simplicity has become a norm. So it is safe to say that it will remain a trend even in 2017. I think that simplicity and boldness are what most internet users prefer, especially when considering that there are a good number of users who access sites from devices such as tablets and smartphones. So the easier it is for them to find whatever they want, the better it is, since the screen is considerably smaller.

I think the design of websites will be greatly influenced by modern Apps. As you said Razzy, simple and straight to the point, making sure the user is not distracted and leading him trough the "tunnel" straight to the call to action.

No to mention the fact that all websites will need to be mobile friendly and this means stripping out a lot of useless stuff that doesn't really need to be there and in the past was part of the "filling the gap" mentality.

I agree with the extremely simple home page design because that is what I am comfortable with. To be honest about designs, I have been seeing so many bad designs of home pages as if it was entering a pageant or art contest. The home page is like a store that is presenting what you have. That means the home page should contain the main menu and better if it can show the whole directory of the inner pages. There’s no need for fancy colors and animated designs.
