4 ways to keep you focused while you're working online

If you've been working online for a while, then you understand that it's pretty easy to become distracted.  You could hear a noise outside, you could want to sit and watch TV, or you might not want to do anything that day.  Well, you need to stay on task and get stuff done if you want to stay employed by yourself or keep your remote working position.

There are many ways you can stay on task and occupied with work, and I'll go over a few of my favorites below 4 ways to keep you focused while you

Make use of technology, so you stay on task
Task Managers like Monday.com are great ways to keep you on track and have a checklist of things that need to get done.  You can add various tasks to the dashboard and change their status from "In process" to "Finished" to keep track of everything you've done.

One thing you'll need to remember is that this won't work for every type of job out there.  If you're working as an SEO, then you might not want to use Monday.com because you'll constantly have to go back and forth between the "In process" and "Finished" jobs because there will be a network of things that you need to do and it will never seem finished.

Be sure to close your email tab
One thing I've noticed recently is that by closing my email tab, I get a lot more work done.  I will check my emails in the morning, close the tab and start working, then check on my emails in the afternoon when I get back from lunch.  This helps me be much more productive throughout the day, and I'm only on my email for around one hour total if you combine my checks in the morning, afternoon, and night time!

When you have your email tab open, you will realize how many notifications you get each day.  I tend to get 200+ emails while I'm working, so I have a lot of potential distractions, and that's why I close that tab until I need to check it later on.

Get off of social media
If you're not a social media manager, then there's no reason for you to be on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, etc.  You need to focus on the work in front of you, not what your Ex was eating for lunch today, and you will notice more checks on your list of things to get done during the day.

Social media is a time killer and helps people procrastinate a ton.  Some companies don't allow cell phone use while at work, with exceptions of emergencies or talking with your kids, and they've noticed a huge uptick in production throughout the business.  This is because people are on their phones less, getting more things done, and making the business better.

Remember, social media isn't paying you to get the job done, and that means it isn't needed!

Tape notes to your computer screen
One thing I started doing recently, and I love it, is taping little sticky notes to my laptop screen saying things like "Is this making you money?" or "The more you procrastinate, the longer your day becomes" because they are little reminders that I need to keep working.

With this little trick, I've noticed my production increasing, the hours I work each day reducing, and my stress levels lowering dramatically.  I have more time at the end of the day to hang out with my kids; my wife is happier because I'm not rushing away after dinner to get things done, and I sleep better knowing that everything was finished and tomorrow is a new set of tasks 4 ways to keep you focused while you

Final Thoughts,
Working online is amazing and gives you plenty of freedom but can also be stressful if you don't know how to manage your time well.  There are plenty of things out there that can help you with time management like Monday.com, but it's up to you to log in and follow your checklist.  You should try out the note trick and keep yourself on track, it works well for me, and I know it works for others because my friend is the one who told me about it lol 4 ways to keep you focused while you
