Have you experienced cyberbullying on social media?

Social media remains that platform that we get to interact with a lot of people. One good thing about social media is that you get to have a lot of fun getting to know others.

However, cyberbullying is like a dirt that tries to spoil all the joy that comes on social as it is an act of using words to bully others on social media. Have you ever had this kind of experience?

No I have not. But my advice to people who have experienced cyber bullying is to get off social media. There is no law that says you have to be on social media. If a truck is coming at you full speed, you don't just stand there. You get out of the way! If being on social media is putting you in harm's way get of the bully's way. Also, report them to the police. It's a crime. In America. https://cyberbullying.org/bullying-laws

I agree.Social media is addictive but if it drives away your peace through cyber bullying, it is good to keep off.Social media itself has many platforms, you can always opt for another option and do away with the one causing you trouble.

I haven't experienced cyberbullying. This will be really a bad one is anyone is going through this.Sometimes bullies just need a literal punch in the face because they're mostly cowards. Confronting them can be a lot helpful than quitting a platform that is free for all because of any other person.

You are right. My sister who experienced this immediately shut down all her social media accounts.

Great advice, I also never experienced cyber bullying but to the ones that really experiencing this thing, why not just stay away from it, if it does more harm than good to you? Really what's the point of social media? Other than connecting with our loved ones social media is just a waste of time, people almost post everything in social media, they rant on social media talking about how they hate this certain person which is annoying to me instead of confronting them in real life why post it in social media where public can see it.

So far I haven't experienced cyberbullying yet. In Facebook, which I regularly use, I only chose people to be friend with those that I personally know. And I'm also careful of what I'm posting and sharing because sometimes it's the reason why people are bullied on social media.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

menchuuy58
That is nice. It is indeed good to just be friend with those people who you personally know.

I have never experienced before cyberbullying since I am not the type of person who always post some pictures or comments in my Facebook account. Most of my friends are only selected since I am not accepting those that I do not know personally or those people who have sarcastic or unnecessary attitude. It is also one way of protecting my privacy that is why I make sure that I am very cautious in dealing with social media sites.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is right. Right selection of friends you know will really be a great help to avoid cyber bullying.

I have experienced it once. They laughed and comments bad about my picture. At first, I got shy and think to delete my post. But then I realized to go with the flow. I ended up bullying my own post and agreed to their opinion, I think this is more fun than to argue with them. Fighting with bully people makes you bullied more. If you are sensitive type of person then social media is not for you.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Great one no need being shy to fight back. I think remaining still on any of the platform that one is bullied on shows confidence in one self and very high self esteem. So it better to confront the problem than running away from it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's a good attitude. You need to fight back and let your voice be heard. Turning our back against any problem will never makes us happy. It will always exist unless you make a solution. No one deserves to bully and everyone needs to be respected.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yep you maybe right but it's degrading to let people just bully you, it makes your self-esteem low and makes you feel bad about yourself but it depends though because maybe the ones that are posting bad comments about you are just kidding and playing around.

I'm using my social media accounts since 2009 until now and honestly I haven't experienced any type of bullying on internet. It is maybe because I'm aware how social media works nowadays especially how people use it against others just to bring them down. I'm fond of reading different articles but I don't easily comment and tell my opinions. I'd rather keep it than having some arguments with people because I don't know how their minds think. Most importantly, I don't really just drop post or comment with no sense at all to any social media platforms.

Wow! Congratulations to you that you have not experienced bullying. I hope I will not experience that too.

Yes I have experienced it. Social media can be a very toxic place. Specially Twitter. If someone doesn't agree with your opinion, more likely than not, you're both going to war. It sucks when random people reading by joins in the action against you.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jelineex
Well, people in social media are brave but not in reality. They are confident to express their thoughts even without basis because of the absence of location. I mean, no one will give time to hunt them. We all know that people loves intrigues and there are people who love to bring gasoline and matchstick to build fire. Water supply is not available all the time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
It might be hypocritical of me to say since I'm writing under a "pen name" but I guess the anonymity is the reason people are so brave to post trash to other people. Since it's not affecting them in real life, it's "safe" for them to go ahead and bully people. On the flip side, it's also an advantage to use a pen name since they won't know who you are in reality.

I also have a bad experience with twitter. My twitter account was suspended until now with reasons I do not know.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Twitter sometimes just bans you for no reason. This has been a recurring problem for a while now. Even just posting a tweet that was copy pasted from a source, if the system deems it as spam, you're screwed. Only the verified accounts are safe from this.

Yeah, and I think everyone did. But I have learned that it's harmless. No one can harm your honor virtually. I dare to try them in real life, that's a whole different story. But social media is the place where people are most honest in ther intentions and communications. They have no fear, and it has both good and bad sides.

I have no experience being bullied but i encountered sarcastic or blunt type of person. This usually happen on chatroom. But, I managed to bully them in return. I listen to people with open heart but when it comes to attitude. I also have attitude problem. Sometimes, we need to fight back to let people know that they can't hurt us. Especially, when it comes to our right. To prevent from being abused. We need to protect ourselves.

So far I haven't experience any kind of cyberbullying in social media. One reason is I know who's in my friends list and I don't make any stupid post on my social media accounts. However, I have seen many people who have that experience from other people in social media especially those who are using fake and dummy accounts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I've been cyberbullied before. I frequently voice my own opinion in public posts on Facebook (about news in my country) and people who don't agree with your opinion are often than not going to attack you rather than engage in an intellectual conversation. I've had them screenshot my profile in a group which I'm also in (they didn't know I was also a member) and asked the group members to trash my profile. Ever since then, I'd rather just stay quiet and read people's opinion. I just can't deal with the stress with dealing with these kinds of people.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

davedaot04
Yep, you're really wasting your time arguing with people that you don't even know and you're risking your life in there because who knows about these random people you encounter on social media sites, for me it's a really waste of time to spend time arguing with strangers that's totally nonsensical.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I feel like people are biased towards a certain opinion when it concerns their race, may they be right or wrong. And that's one of my pet peeves somethings. Instead of debating opinions calmly, people resort to bullying and sometimes humiliation if you don't agree with their opinion. It's a common thing in the Philippines FB scene where they will screenshot your conversation and post it in public.

I don't use any social media except for fb messenger lite. I have not experienced it but have had read many incidents that caused traumatic experiences and sometimes even death via suicide. Cyberbullying just like bullying should be stopped. Be aware, if you see someone getting bullied stand up to the bully and get other people's or an authority's attention.

I have experienced a lot of cyber bullying. I have had my share of bullying at work place too. I posted my views against feminism. And then suddenly I got death threat from women. The thing about it being equal and all, they wanted extra share and reservation in jobs. I kind of pointed that out. And it went to cyberbullying. I am surprised none of them had guts to do that in real life. I am sure I'd have broke few ribs of theirs if they bully me in real life.

Really? Well, I guess some women react strongly to that. But how does it help their cause if they bully you? I am a woman and I want equal rights for those women who are not treated equally. But I would never proceed to any bullying. You have a right to your own opinion, no one can fault you for that.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
Exactly the thing was I was not against any rights issues. My simple opinion was "every one should work and go for getting a job". But on that note there was argument from some women and men who say it was man's duty to feed woman. I was surprised that how come those people say they don't like gender roles and also say it's man's job to feed and pay woman for everything? And the bullying continued from them.

I hate the trolls. No I have not experienced this kind of bullying. I know it can be really brutal especially on platforms like twitter. Sometimes if you write something controversial or something that people don't like they can come for you in a big way. Twitter should do something about this because sometimes they is a thin line between a difference in opinion and bullying. If you experience bullying just block people. I think this is the best way to deal with this.

Thankfully I haven’t. Sure, I’ve had some people have snarky comments and stuff along the way but nothing I’d really constitute as bullying - more so just as differences of opinion. I do think it’s a growing concern though that cyber bullying seems to be a constantly increasing thing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Alymae
This is indeed a growing concern. This has caused a number of deaths usually in teens. Teens and children should be closely monitored to avoid this happening to them. Individuals should be warned about bullying. A stricter punishment should be implemented.

I have never experienced cyber bullying but I know it is ugly.Idlers out their have their ways of causing trouble .

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah, it's indeed ugly. The worst part about it that some people are not immune to it. They take offenses and insults from virtual people as personal. I can guarantee 100% that many of those who are brave enough to do cyberbullying online are harmless in real life themselves.

I have never experienced cyberbullying but I did experience bullying. I really don't get why some people bully other people, in cyber or in person. I don't see anything good in it. It is just a waste of time to be used in this kind of things. Why not just focus on the more important things? Why not used social media to spread peace, love, joy? It would be much wonderful and easier.

No, but I witnessed someone that did take her own life because of cyber bullying. Really social media sites are dangerous especially to younger people because they're sensitive and what someone on the internet says about them matters to them they'd get sad and they might feel like they're worthless that life is not worth living for which is pretty sad, It's really the parents responsibility to look after their children and really talk to them about what's going on in their life.

I haven't experienced cyber bullying before. But I must say this must be stop. Cyber bullying is a crime and ruins a lot lives and dreams. However, we cannot stop this problem if we can't solve the issue of fake social media accounts. Most of the online bullies use fake social media accounts to hide their identity. This gives them the courage to say everything they want to say.

I have not personally experienced it but I have seen other people get bullied on YouTube. The awesome thing about the human experience is that when one is getting bullied other people don't just sit on the sidelines without saying something about it. There is a growing trend of people standing up for the person getting bullied and I think it is a great trend. Don't just watch other people get bullied without saying anything, speak up for the person getting bullied and tell the bully off!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's right. Cyberbullying is something that we cannot avoid since there are some people who can't resist but to judge. The least thing that we can do about it is to help the person being bullied by helping him fight for what we think is right. On that way, we can help him to gather his confidence and be able to fight again.

Yes I have countless if times because I comment a lot on political threads using a pseudonym. And my comments always get a lot of people mad and would start bullying me to the extent of getting a lot of threats. That's why I use 3 different pseudonyms, each one for a particular niche. Using pseudonyms cancels out personal attacks because I can't be identified.

I haven't experienced cyber bullying yet and I don't want to. It will really affect my confidence when it comes to social media. That is why I kept on keeping a low profile so that people won't pay too much attention on me especially when I made a mistake. I hope that people should stop cyberbullying as it may destroy someone's confidence.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I've heard a few stories about people being bullied by their neighbors on the net. There is more social media networks could do to stop such people. Verify users identity and make sure everyone uses their real name. It would be hard for someone to attempt doing nasty stuff on the net if they can't hide their identity.

Anyway, I don't spend much time online so that is probably one reason why I haven't yet had to deal with cyber bullies.

I think that cyberbullying is one of the biggest problem of other people that is why they are losing some confidence in using it as it only gives them some problems and embarrassment later on. I think that is really a serious issue that needs to be given an importance and immediate action by our government and other entities that should be responsible in safeguarding the interest and welfare of the people who uses social media sites for different purposes.

I have never experienced cyberbullying personally for any of my posts on Social Media but I have seen instances of such things happening with others. Getting trolled by people on Twitter is almost a regular thing now for almost all the frequent users of Twitter. The moment you say something which is controversial on Twitter, you are most certainly going to get trolled by people who you have never interacted in your life before. Generally, these trolls have fake profiles and do operate in groups who target and bully, anyone who has a contradictory view.

I will never resort to cyber bullying. Also, thankfully, I have never been cyber bullied. But, I have seen a lot of posts that went viral because eof this. Mostly we're teenagers, you know, they are not the only ones to be blamed here, their parents should too. They must consider looking at how they discipline their kids. There might be something wrong with how they treat them that's why their children does something unpleasant to others.

People should self regulate their own feeds to take responsibility for what they see. But with kids creating fake accounts and pretending to be familiar to the victims, they aren’t entirely similar. Plus, on a computer, people have much less of a filter that real life bullies have since in real life they’d draw attention to themselves also.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes I do. But as I never waste my time to those people. I block them and there was one time I talked to them personally and tell them if they will not stop I will sue them. Good thing they learn their lesson. Some people bully you when they know you will not fight back. Oh well I could be mean sometimes and it's that they know that.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think that we will not be bullied if we are a responsible person, when we are using social media sites we should be very cautious on some post or comments that we will make so that there will be no reason for other people to take advantage on us. We should be responsible in all the things that we do at some social media sites so that we will not experienced any problems with it because sometimes we are the reason why we are being bullied online. Due to our unnecessary attitude and behavior people throw bad things on us which can be avoided if we are doing what is right.

I believe everyone did at some point in their lives. There is such a disconnect with social media and real life. I don't know, and maybe that's just me, but when you take insults personally done on social media towards you, you lose. That's based on experience by the way. Ciao!

Social media is important to me to promote my music and I get bullied a lot from people that I don't personally know or people that don't personally know me. I think they're just bored with their lives that's why they spend so much time on social media spreading unnecessary hate. I've been wanting to deactivate my socials but I've decided to just ignore reading comments most of the time and use comments filtering and disabled comments on my Instagram and it's much peaceful and healthier for my mental health and I think Facebook should implement the option to disable comments too since it's the biggest social network which means more bullies.

If you're a person who loves to share your opinion, someone who loves to comment, then the chances are you'll become an easy target for bullies. My recommendation is to use a pseudonym so that bullies can't touch you.

I did not experience anything similar to this. However, a friend of mine experienced this type of bullying when he wrote something related to football. He wrote something about Red Star being better than opponents in one of the previous matches. My friend received 27 messages, with threats because he said that the team he was cheering for was better. Bullies threatened him that they will find him in our hometown, that they will come and find him. My friend was nervous. He constantly thought about that. After a few days, he blocked bullies and they never came to our hometown. But I remember him being anxious and under the stress. Bullying is a very dangerous thing.

I had the experience some weeks back but it’s not really me but my niece. I received a message in Facebook from a stranger named Brie that my niece was living with a guy who is married and has a family. There were nasty words in that message directed against my niece like home wrecker and flirt. What I did was to report the account to Facebook and on the next day the troll was gone. It is heartbreaking to experience such bullying because it is a waste of time.

I am being bullied since I was a child. I am not aware though that time. I just thought that the world is really harsh for the likes me of me and people would never wanted to befriend me. As the time goes on, I thought it's normal and when I get older they'll stop but I am wrong. Then I tend to be a loner. I am fascinated by the idea that you can have a different identity in social media. I was able to make friends but the reality still kicks in. Cyberbullies are everywhere and I am like born to be a prey. Later on I ended up quitting on using social media.

I haven't experienced bullying in social media. I've heard a lot of bullying in the news though, oftentimes it happens to personalities who are being compared. Cyber bullying are rampant nowadays because most people choose to air their dirty laundry in the public rather than settle it in a calm and private setting. Then, netizens can just go ahead and judge up to their heart content without knowing the full story.
