Do you write poetry?

Do you write poetry?  Or do you like to?  I have a few pieces that I am really very proud of.  I wrote one when I was in college, about my dad.  He passed away when I was a senior in high school, and I was missing him.  My assignment in college was to write about a life experience and then add a poem if we felt like it.  I decided to add a poem about my dad.  It said what I felt.  I was very proud of it that I framed it.
Another piece that I wrote was for my husband.  It stated different things about our relationship.  It is a nice piece I feel and I am proud of it as well.
If you write poetry, how does it make you feel?

I only ever wrote one. That was when I was in High school. It was a winning piece, it won me an award for my school. It was about teachers. We had the contest on Teacher's day. I try writing poetry again but I can't seem to finish it.

That's great! For how long did the teachers remember your effort, because it gives a lot of reputation to the teachers as well. Also, do you mind sharing it with us, please? Do you write poetry?
We would like to see/hear it.

Wow, congratulations. I never thought of writing a poem to my teachers. Maybe some lines, or caring cards, but never a poem. And winning an award? That's great. It means you really have a good talent for it, so you should explore and keep pushing on that way for sure.

Wow,you are really good to have won the award, some people are creative like that especially in high school. I know that prom needs creativity.

You had a great job back on those time. I can't even make one or I don't have much knowledge about it but you just did it for the first time and that was the only one and still won a contest about it. That was a nice story about your poetry experience. I hope someday I could make one too.

That's great. Only few became productive with just a single poem. It must mean that you have the passion and skill in writing.

Yes I do. I love writing poems since High School. I always write poems about love and I gave them to the girls I've been in love before. I even compose songs for them. I also make poems about mother, family, life and God.

Awww so sweet! So, you're a very romantic one. I've never had a poem or a song from any of my boyfriends. I just had a poem about 3 years ago from a very good friend. He's very sweet and talented, even though his family couldn't afford to give him an education. I always try to encourage him about it, he's a diamond in the rough.

Thank you. Actually I was inspired to write poems when I read the slam book of my mother when she was in highschool. I was impressed and inspired by the poems that I read from that slam book and since then, my journey began as a romantic poet.

That's great! And it's even better to know your mom was your inspiration. Do you write your poems on your life experiences, or do you have a niche that you rather express, like romance, drama, horror?

You have a great skill about poetry and you could just make one easily. Maybe because you have some inspirations like girls you've love. You are also composing some songs and have you tried one to publish? You could have some great future about those skills and not all could do what you can.

Really? I though the sweet gesturesbby men like this are dead. It's great that there are still people who live by the old and classic tradition.

My parents have a huge gap in their age. My father is 19 years older than my mother. Actually, my father is of the same age with my grandmother (mother of my mother). Though, they have a huge disparity in their age, that doesn't really matter at all. I grew up seeing how they love and respect each other. I am so blessed to have them as my parents. They are not perfect but I am proud to be their son. Maybe their love and respect for each other inspired me to be a romantic person.

I write poetry for fun.I have not yet written poems for money. I'm teacher and I write poems for my students to present during the music festival. There are seventeen classes and I always choose to write own composition pieces with the theme environment and safe use of the internet. After composing,I train the students on reciting and presentation. The marks are awarded from composion to presentation. I always feel good when they win from one level to another.

To be completely honest, I wrote once poetry for my husband when we just met. It was kinda sweet. But when it comes to the higher professional level I don't think I have the talent for it. Poetry is harder than writing songs, in some way. Because you don't have any rhythm accompanied.

Honestly, I'm a total mess when it comes to poems. I care more about which word rhyme with the other, instead of showing care and emotion on it. So, is hard for me to do both, put them together, and also make it work. There has to be a talent for poetry for sure, and if you also have great grammar, spelling, and a proper education, the results are just mind blowing.

I write poetry when I was in high school because it was compulsory. I don't know if my teacher approve my poetry because I never tried reading it in front of or class because I'm ashamed with my composition.

I remember I was so depressed when I wrote a poem about someone. He is my childhood friend but my feelings for him never fade until now. I found out he had already special someone and he was avoiding me which made me frustrated. I even had to write song for him at that time. For now I am okay even if he has already someone but I think they already split and he started to notice me again but I am avoiding him now. Even before, I wrote some poems and it was more likely frustrations and regrets in life. I do like writing poems as this is the way I express my feeling.

I've never really been a big poetry writer. We used to have to do it back at school for some of our literature topics, and I did okay at it - but I much prefer factual writing than poetic writing, I appreciate reading poetry though, I'm just not the most talented when it comes to crafting them.

I started writing because of Poetry. I must have written hundreds of verses of poetry during my high school days. I'm good at it too.

It's fun to compose meaningful lines that rhymes. Poetry is fun and romantic at times.

I write poetry but it is only for personal consumption, I write them to express my feelings. I use it as an outlet so that I can say things that I would bottle up otherwise. I sometimes post poems anonymously on some sites just to gauge interest and for my work be critiqued. When I first started writing poetry it was only about negative feelings that I carry but after a while I found myself writing about the positive things in life too.

I do read and write poetry. I love to express my thoughts and emotions. It's a good way to release stress. i write depending on my mood and inspiration in a day. I find it more relaxing to write whenever I am in a silent place. This sets my mind to think with ease and confidence.

Honestly, I only once tried writing a poem when I was a kid but I think I never like writing that type. Honestly, I'm not fond of reading poems even before when William Shakespeare and others became popular because of their works. But I do appreciate poetry writings. It is just that I don't like it that much especially today.

I actally do write poetry. I wrote my first one when I was eleven. It was a poem about the lion and its prowess. I know, I know, the things kids write about. It was a great experience though. In the later years, I ended up writing a collection of poems, most of them inspired by my high school crush. As I grow older, my subjects have been drifting to the dark side. There is something about sadness that makes poetry resonate.

Poetry is one of the many things that I love. I started writing poems in High School. I did just write one a few days ago, it's about a woman who is tired of the relationship she's in but she can't leave. Anyway, I only write when emotions are high or when something inspires me to write about a certain topic. I'm proud of my work and I've had them all printed out but not framed yet. I might frame one but I'm not sure which one.

Well, I have written poems when I was in college. Actually, I had written a lot. Our professors always wanted us to make one like every week. It's kind of exhausting. But, it's better than having a quiz or long tests. Haha

No, but I read and memorise poetry. Memorising is basically a brain exercise. These kind of brain exercises, like sudoku and crosswords, are meant to help prevent dementia as you get older as well !

I’m memorising Captain Dobbin by Kenneth Slessor at the moment. He’s a great poet, out of that mid 20th century modernist school. When I read him it’s like someone is doing gymnastics with language.

Well, honestly i can appreciate poetry and i do love to read poetry all the time. When it comes to write Poetry, i dont think i have got the necessary talent for it.I tried to write some poems when i was in my junior college but i was not able to complete them. I realised that writing good poetry is not a very easy task and it can only be possible if you have the talent of doing it.

I used to love poetry when I was student. In our literature subject I would always volunteer to read the poem that was our lesson. I still remember the poem written by Joyce Kilmer with the title Trees that they are made by God while poems were made by poets only. But now it seems that I have lost the appetite for reading poems. With writing poems I don’t have the experience and I have to admit that I cannot write poems.

I just recently got involved in writing poems. It helps me to relax, to throw out all the emotions on the paper. Of course, no one has ever read my poems.) But I have given myself a special notebook https://onplanners.com/planners/best-hourly-planners in which I write my works. Sometimes it happens that the muse visits and the poems themselves are born)

It's a pleasant creative outlet that is really satisfying when you feel like you've managed to string together a few golden sentences that convey some beautiful imagery. To me it feels like that Mark Twain quote. “The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter—it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.”

I also write poems but very rarely. I just write whenever I am in the mood for a poem. And I can only write a very nice poem when I am emotional about something. I'm an emotional person and it reflects in my poems.

Absolutely. I love writing poems. I am more comfortable writing poems than writing stories. They let out more of my creativeness and imagination. I can freely write anything I want as a poem rather than any other written works. I find it an easy way to let out all my feelings using a code. In poem, you don't need to use words which have obvious meaning. You can make hidden messages.

I consider poetry is a more personal way of expression and it's not as widely regarded as it used to be in the past. If anything, we could say that sung music is an inheritor of the way art is expressed through words. Sadly I don't think there is enough interest in this genre of literature nowadays. I've written some poems myself and read some written by others, but don't think they mean the same or as much to everyone.

Poetry is art. Used to write it in the high school days. I loved to write about love and my emotions. Now I barely have free time because I am studying medicine. But I hope that I will soon have some more free time to start writing again.

I love reading and writing poem. I remember how I voraciously devour Dante's Divine Comedy which was a Harvard Edition during my college year. The book was written in poetry style and the language was so deep and old that I had a headache reading it. My love for poetry made me finished the voluminous edition. It was indeed liberating and enlightening to read poetry that are creative and artistically created I can say "wow" all the time while literally feeling nosebleed.

I only get inspiration to write poetry when I'm depressed so my poems always sound so morbid and dolorous. The last one I wrote was two years ago I guess. I love poems, it's easy to make because I think it is a form of expression where a writer is most free. You do not have to think of characters, or a setting, or a storyline, or a plot. You just sit there and write and there you go.

Never, but I'd be interested. As soon as I have free time, I immediately start writing a dissertation, it takes up all my free time. A friend of mine advised me to contact the professionals from , so I did. They did half of the work for me, and I didn't give much money for it!
