SEO is only difficult when you can't invest a lot of time into it

Whenever someone says "SEO is Dead!" it kind of annoys me because they likely haven't invested enough time into actually doing it, or they did black hat SEO, and now they're telling everyone it doesn't work.  If you're actually doing everything right, investing a lot of time into your SEO, and building your website and business the right way then you will see that SEO isn't actually that difficult.

People say that SEO is tough because it takes a long time, but that's not a good enough reason to say something is difficult.  If things that take a long time are difficult, then setting up a website or being good at a sport is difficult, but it just takes time to do it right and be good at something.  Since 2003 I've been doing SEO and Online Marketing and I've come to the conclusion that it's not that difficult, it's just seen as tough because people don't want to invest their time into it to learn all the systems and how to do it, and that's why you hear people say it doesn't work or it's tough to do lol SEO is only difficult when you can

Below are a few things you need to understand about SEO and why it's not that difficult to do, it just takes time and dedication on your part.

SEO isn't an overnight type of process
Everyone who learns about SEO thinks it's an overnight type of thing and they will get an additional 1,000+ visitors a day and make millions a year from placing a few backlinks around the internet.

SEO takes a lot of time just to set in, and that's why people say it's tough, they don't wait around to see the fruits of their labor.  And if they do place some links and wait for their rankings to jump up, they will then think it's a one-hit wonder because they place a few more and now their rankings aren't moving.  You need to consistently be working on your SEO in order to consistently boost your rankings, you can't stop when you hit a wall or hurdle, you need to get over it and stop worrying about your rankings.  Stop worrying and they will come lol SEO is only difficult when you can

You won't get rich quick with SEO
No one has ever gotten rich quick with SEO recently.  At the beginning of Google and the other search engines you could just build a few million links and rank #1 for whatever you wanted, then make $3,000,000 overnight, but it's not like that anymore due to the algorithms being altered constantly.

If you think that you're going to get rich right away from doing SEO on your website, you're in for a rude awakening SEO is only difficult when you can

It's a 40 hour a week job
I do SEO all day long, every day, and I work a minimum of 6 days a week.  If you're not putting in 40 hours to building content that's optimized or increasing your rankings then you won't be able to compete in a difficult niche.  You can do the minimum and see page 1 rankings, but you'll likely hover between the bottom of the first page and the top of the second, but that's not where the traffic is.

You need to be #1 or even #2 for your targeted keywords if you want to make the most money with SEO, so putting in the bare minimum won't cut it if someone else is constantly working on their SEO to get to #1 and never stopping even if they do get there.

The more you put in, the more you'll be rewarded
The real beauty of SEO is that the work compiles.  This means if you put in 40 hours a week, every week, all of that work will push you forward non stop and get even stronger with the more time you put in.  As long as you're doing everything right, you will likely be on top of the search results in time, and you will see all of your work in the past still helping you today SEO is only difficult when you can

In conclusion
Do your SEO the right way, dedicate yourself to it, and if you need to you can outsource it to a credible company that is going to build the right content or links in order to get you to #1.  Some people can't do 40 hours a week on their SEO but they can bring someone on that can, and they will likely be more successful than you are because they can be dedicated to it.  You won't be successful with SEO unless you can invest your time into it, so get started today and thank me next year SEO is only difficult when you can

SEO.... To be honest, it's not so easy. Maybe yes for many of us here in this community, but for most other people it's totally complicated and most of the time people fail with their SEO. Some fail because of lack of knowledge, but some only think that they know what they doing, then produce completely negative SEO.

If there is serious business website looking to compete with large competition, i would not suggest any type of "Self doing" SEO any more. For serious businesses and websites, nowadays, SEO have to be done by some sort of SEO professionals and quality freelancers.

Google and some other SEO measuring services made it very complicating and very time consuming, so doing own SEO for most people doesn't work any more if they want to be anywhere near TOP of searches. Many actually get banned and de-authorised by doing wrong things, or using old or bad (black hat) techniques.

If this SERP games continue like this, i guess in next decade you will need master degree for SEO in order to be able to compete...

I am among the few that find SEO to be complicated, irrespective of reading so many blogs that talk about SEO. Everyone has his or her own opinion.

However, I am optimistic that one day I find it easier.

I have plans of having my own website since last year but what’s holding me is the amount of time that I can put into it. Having a website is like having a baby that you have to tend it regularly and fill it with contents. How could I do that chore when I have a full time job in the office? My freelancing is part time only and I guess I have to use all that free time for my site. Maybe I can only have my own site when I retire from my job.

Thanks for the beautiful SEO techniques. There have 3 types of SEO in this world.
1) White Hat SEO
2) Grey Hat SEO
3) Black Hat SEO

Out of these 3 SEO process- white hat SEO- On page and off page optimization is the best SEO of this world. Basically white hat SEO do 3 types of benefit for any website owner-

1) Your website position on search engine result page will be increase.
2) Your website will get traffic from search engines for the life time.
3) Your website page rank will be high.

Thanks

Wow, thanks for sharing the information. I am still an amateur in terms of SEO, but I am slowly taking baby steps to learn and master it.

The first time I was about to be introduced to working online as a freelancer to earn money, the first advice I was given by my instructor/teacher was that earning money online by working as a freelancer isn't a get rich quick scheme nor does it pay without making good sacrifice of one's time and some money as well. So, whoever that is looking at earning money overnight by being into SEO should look for other means to make money because it's never going to come through SEO.

I think SEO if done daily even for few minutes can give some result. Building links to your videos and the articles. That helps out a lot if you ask me. I have seen people making use of the investment and then making use of the time and people. I can tell you that investment does not always pan out the way I think it'd be possible. That being said, investment takes time to work on a much better ground. And so I think SEO should be done slowly if you have no money. And build on what you can and then take things forward.

I tend to agree that SEO is an important aspect of a website. The problem is most sites and businesses are naturally spending a lot of money in their marketing and advertising, because it's what would bring in sales fast. I think the best target market for SEO are old sites/companies and those sites which have already a marketing and advertising setup. You really have to spend a lot of time doing SEO if you want to see the results fast.

If you're a website or online business owner Its best to let someone do SEO for you because doing it yourself would spend a lot of time. As we all know site owners spend a lot time making content, marketing and advertising. Adding SEO to the things to do list may be too much so it's better to let someone do it for you.

Agree with that. You really need a lot of time by doing this and it's really hard to give the 40 hrs a week specially if you have an on offline job, and if you want to focus, you should have money on your pocket for a months or year while doing this specially for beginners, so you can afford to sit at the corner of your house by the doing the SEO job.

Based on the countless of discussions that I have read about SEO, there is no specific period when the SEO work will take effect. It can be a week or a month or maybe even a year? In that case, you cannot expect your SEO work to be done for a short time only because SEO work is a continual chore that you should provide for your website in order to be abreast with the search engine requirements.

I don’t really know who would assume that SEO is an overnight, get rich quick scheme. If anything, I feel that SEO is one of the last remaining means of making an honest dollar on the internet. People who get into SEO thinking that it’s going to be quick and easy obviously have either been lied to or simply haven’t done enough research. Like you said, SEO does pay off but it isn’t something you do part-time or at your own leisure (as some people like to put it). The real success comes when you start treating it like the real job it is.

When you think about it, everything really requires time in order to achieve success, and SEO is among one of them, however, the problem is that people aren't that familiar with SEO that they think they can have results immediately, which leads to problems down the road.

You dont gain success overnight. I am always passionate and hardworking. If given a chance to learn SEO, I will be forever grateful. I will definitely do my best.

Yes! I agree with you. Nothing really is difficult if you would just focus and be determined to be successful in what you want to achieve in SEO. Success as they say is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent hard work. You can only work hard if you invest your time there also.

Most people think that working online is easy. This is the hardest work you will ever do to get any type of result. I agree that to get your SEO right you need to keep creating content and it never stops. You are always working and it is really hard to relax and unwind. I just recently started affiliate marketing. I work all the time and yet I have not reached the levels II want to reach. I want to give up, but I know that I need to keep on going to see success.

I think that a lot of patience and dedication is required when you are working on an SEO. If you are not able to invest time and effort every day consistently then there is a very less probability of achieving big success in this field. If a person enters this field with an expectation of getting instant success then he is very likely to get completely disillusioned very quickly.
