A simple big, fat: YES. You should honestly be using every resource available to you to generate and increase your traffic. Why not? it's free and it's viable. The use of Google+ has increased a lot lately. I think they have over 250million users. Tap into it and use it to your own advantage.

Sure, Google+ isn't as big as Facebook or Twitter but who said it won't be soon? so put that extra effort into making it work. It will be worth it in the end. Try to be engaging and interactive.

So when you say it's free you mean the actual Google + platform? I thought that promoting across Google feel under Google adwords and adsense, kind of like running ads on Facebook. If this is true it could give me another pool to market my services to.

Good thing about Google + is if you share on Google plus, your content will appear on Google search when the exact query is matched. More G+ means your content ranking higher. will You can also get Google authorship and be recognized as the author of the content. Google + as a social media is not very popular like facebook and twitter, however, it is of course getting wide recognition.

Are you serious, so I could potentially rank up on Google by posting on Google +!?!

I honestly ignored Google + because no one I know uses it but if what I'm reading in here is true I'll have to set aside some time a week to engage the platform.

I use Google+ in particular and I think it's more of a feature that can be used to generate more traffic.
I've been using Google+ for more than a year now and I've noticed that many people came to my site through Google+, so it's good to use this feature.

Google plus traffic doesn't convert. Period. You won't find buyers on that social network. Most of the people on that social network are pro Google. And those who hate facebook are there. As you can see it can be harder to be on such network where there are not many people out there. In such case google plus may lead to some good shares and reshares but don't expect much in that case.

Okay, so since I got all these responds on my thread I started putting more time into promoting on Google+ and I see what you all mean, WOW It turns out I didn't really need to put in as much time and effort than with other social platforms to get a quite good result. I surely think I will keep using Google+ for marketing.

Hello
Have a wonderful day.

Google plus is also a famous social media platform. Including Google plus or for any other major social media platform- hashtag based keyword with the post is very much important for attracting traffic. The first method of social media marketing is hashtag based social media marketing. Like #google plus, # Twitter etc.

Thanks
Centurion

Obviously, its a simple and easy way of generating traffic to your website/blog. The best part in Google plus is you can choose among wide group of communities which primarily focus on one niche and you can publish posts of your blog in Google communities that matches your blog;s niche. For example if your are developing a blog based on agriculture then you can join google plus communities that are focused on agriculture and publish your posts, This is a very effective way to drive traffic to your blog , I have been doing this ever since I started blogging. An added advantage in google plus is when you post in google plus, it also appears on google search results.

YES I use Google+ Daily you can easy create good links on there and is good for social signals as well. Join communities niche related and also try follow few members and try gain them back. When posting use the right hash tag and bold your title with * on on each side of your title so it stands out.

Have you ever posted your links on Google Plus and then one day you're doing a generic search for a topic and you plug the search terms into the search box and your G+ posts show up in the search results? If you have had that happen, then you know it's probably a good idea to promote your websites or blogs on the Google Plus social network.

Don't just add links to the timeline for your profile or business page, start some G+ collections and join G+ communities. Sometimes people who don't follow you, like your collections. The communities are places where you meet like-minded and you can learn a lot. Also the communities usually have more members than you have followers. Also, people may not follow your profile or page, but they might like your collections. I have a G+ foodie page that has less than 1000 followers. But my G+ collection for that same page has about 40 thousand followers. No surprise. It's a collection of pizza recipes. Using Google+ for traffic yes or no?

These social media tools and resources are being offered to you FREE, by the biggest tech giant in the world. Just say “Thanks” and use them! Don't expect instant success. But expect some success for your efforts.

I am not a fan of Google+. It is more complex in my opinion but I may have to give it a try!

Hi, Viky, I have used Google+ to advertise in the past but i got no traffic from it. Now I use Google+ for fun and socializing, to see what is new in the world and to make new friends. I get traffic from other socializing sites like Facebook, and Twitter.

I don't recommend wasting your time on Google+

Back when it was first released, I created pages for multiple sites I ran and never got any worthwhile traffic. Unless you can automate the usage of it, I think your time and energy is better focused on more popular social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Personally, I was never a fan of Google+ since day one it was announced and introduced. However, with an increase of daily users, it's without a doubt a practical and viable means of generating traffic.

It only makes sense to draw from as many sources as possible for your traffic. So why not Google+ as well?

What I also notice is that Google+ traffic is better quality compared to other social media sites (especially Twitter). The leads I get from Google+ actually stick when I'm target specific about the audience I'm looking to attract.

You need to use every free traffic sources from social media platforms. Obviously, Google+ is not on the top list of engaging traffic like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram generates. But it's okay to use it because we never know which one is going to work for your niche. So do try everything out there on the internet you could, and the good thing is that it's free.

I can be a bit disagree with you on this because as I tried social networks for my sites then Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram is not having better traffic than Google+ if we concentrate on this network reality.
My main social networks are still Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.

If your major website googles is to look good in google's eyes, then using their own tools in promoting your website will certain bring a boost to it. I have seen many website who have large following on Google+ rank high on search engine. Even if google might deny it, i think they will always have a soft touch towards websites that are active on Google+.

I can't imagine why you wouldn't use it, it's free and simple to use. Even if only a small amount of traffic is generated, it's still more traffic. Plus it most likely will help your website or blog's ranking on Google which could lead to even more traffic. Seems like a Win-Win situation to me.

I only get 3% traffic from social network accounts and no more from Google+ so I think it is not effective for driving traffic to my website.

Twitter and Facebook can be better if compared with Google thus I would focus on these networks though.

No doubt about it, Twitter and Facebook are more popular and do increase traffic. But don't discount G+ for the simple reason that posting to your Google Plus profile or page may also increase the chances of your content being found via organic searches; especially if you make use of hashtags. I actually share my G+ posts via my Twitter and Facebook accounts. Every little bit helps. It won't work against you to combine the power of these 3 social media networks. How much traffic you get from Google + or any other social media sites depends on your number of followers. If you have few followers, you won't get big traffic.
Social media traffic also depends on the content you share. If your content is very interesting, useful and informative, people are likely to reshare. When there are too many reshares, you will get lots of visitors.
Google + is good for traffic, however, how many visitors you can pull depends on your Google + circle and content you are sharing.

Google plus traffic is not that much for me because it can't be compared to traffic from other social networks like Facebook and Instagram. Moreover there are more people on these other two platforms than Googleplus.

I seriously think it pertinent to use all the social platforms so as to garner more views than just focusing on one or two of this.

It's a matter of priorities to me I start off with those that will give me good results and that's Facebook, 2 billion people are using it. While Instagram has 900 million users. Twitter has only 350 million.

Google+ has 100 million users 50? of which are inactive. Compared to the above mentioned companies Google is insignificant when it comes to traffic.

Should you have a Google Plus profile active no matter what?

YES, absolutely!!!

Is Google Plus a worthwhile channel to invest your time and energy into trying to gain traffic from?

IT DEPENDS

Depending on your niche, your target customer's activity level on that particular platform and whether or not you KNOW where to find the "Right" groups to join/are a member of these "right" groups for your target market - it could be either a traffic goldmine or a COMPLETE waste of time and resources that could be better spent pursuing other verticals...

For example:

One of my micro-niche entertainment sites happens to get a TON of traffic from G+... There just so happen to be a plethora of highly active "underground" private google plus groups - location specific worldwide and non-location specific - that I stumbled upon and who are NOT too uptight about promoting links if they content is good - in fact they ENCOURAGE it - and from those groups, as I said, I get TONS of traffic with minimal effort...

I also have a website that sells subscription based access to rent to own and pre foreclosed property listings...The target market would be individuals and families with enough income to cover mortgage payments but not enough credit to buy through traditional channels, who are looking to move in the near future....These are not people who would go to Google Plus or search for a Google Plus group in pursuit of this goal - nor would they necessarilly even KNOW that rent to own would be an option for them, let alone the BEST option....Focusing any significant amount of time and effort into pursuing traffic via Google Plus for THAT particular site would be about as productive as trying to yell at pedestrians passing by from my balcony to go to my website....in ofther words - it would have NO chance at success - meanwhile that site gets GREAT traffic from other sources that better suit it...

So short answer - It depends on your target audience and where THEY are

Even if Google does not admit it, Google Plus is a social media that is a direct competitor of Facebook. That means you have followers or connections that when you post something they will see it and probably react to it. If your account has a lot of followers then the traffic that you can get may be substantial enough to your requirements. Unfortunately for the Google Plus users, there is word recently that it had shut down its operations due to financial viability issues.
