Have you pushed your link building too much and received a swift kick in the rankings?

Over the years I've had plenty of websites and I have had a few get a nice little penalty from Google because I went a little too hard in the link building department lol. Now some of these websites I got the penalty for randomly and others I did on purpose. Now you're thinking "Why the Hell would you get a penalty on purpose?" well it's because I wanted to do a lot of testing in order to see how hard I could push my link building and also to see what types of links get the penalty quicker vs links that will rarely bring in a penalty Have you pushed your link building too much and received a swift kick in the rankings? Always be testing!

The penalties can be anywhere from a slap on the wrist to a full blown blacklist. I've gotten blacklisted only once, and it was pretty difficult to do. So if you get your website blacklisted then you've been doing something very naughty and you're probably the person who talks bad about SEO when it happens lol. But if you're the person who got a slap on the wrist, it's likely you didn't realize you were doing something you shouldn't be *cough* link wheels *cough* Have you pushed your link building too much and received a swift kick in the rankings?

Getting black listed is pretty much a death sentence for your website. You should pretty much buy a new domain, hosting and set up a new website because you'll never be found in the search engine that hates you. If you have a penalty you can usually come back from this downfall, but it takes some time and effort. If you don't know how to figure out what went wrong, I would highly suggest contacting a good SEO company, or look for someone here on Seocheckout who helps with penalties, and see if they know what went wrong. Write down a list of things that you did prior to getting the penalty and that will streamline the process and quicken everything for the person who is doing the research to figure out exactly what happened. Even if you give them loads of info, they might not be able to figure it out since they don't work for Google, Yahoo! and/or Bing. But usually just getting a list of what you did will give the person a good idea of what went wrong and what needs to be fixed Have you pushed your link building too much and received a swift kick in the rankings?

Link wheels are good for the soul. lol.

Of course, i think everyone at some point got penalized. It was a time when everything was allowed (link wheels, form profile links, spamming forums with a lot of black hat software, directories, etc) and everyone was pushing the limits without any remorse and the benefits were top positions for shady websites.
I had my guinea pigs website sand boxed because I did all the above to see how much i can get from it.
In the first week i jumped from page 20 to page 2 for a certain keyword. I was amazed because the traffic was improving, I was getting more hits and more clicks on my
Adsense ads that I ever got combined. Well it lasted for week I believe and then I was sent somewhere around page 40 and i got stuck there.

To be honest I didn't even tried to get it back because I had a feeling that I had a really nice label on my forehead as a spammer.
Test, destroy and start fresh. That's my motto.

I just hate clients that come with penalized websites, some other greedy buddy went a step too far and I'm now supposed to clean up his mess. They usually have no idea what the other guy did or they did everything themselves but don't want or don't know what they exactly did.

"Well I bought some huge amounts of backlinks, that's pretty much all I can tell you, please rank my number 1 on my main keyword, thanks."

I only had a few such cases since I started working as an SEO full time at a real agency, but damn those were awful projects, there is a ton of work involved and the results aren't that satisfactory, I would sooner clean infected websites with 100k indexed pages than have a "get out of penalty project".

I would find it really interesting and fun to do research into what works and what Google kicks ass for! However I am not an SEO freelancer so I don't have the time and energy to do that sort of thing.

I have never had a penalty but then again I have never spent a huge amount of time and effort with link building. I have ordered SEO packages from my favorite seller here quite regularly over the years and I have seen some amazing results... however I have not pushed link building much.

This is something I plan to really get pumping with starting next year. I am not worried about pushing it too far because I have my trustworthy seller that will make sure my websites are safe and not going too hard with the links.

No, I have not pushed my linking building too far, and never would. Everyone knows, at some point, at some time, when you least expect it, Google will give you a swift kick in the a$$ and they can do it over and over again until you're basically banned from results. LOL.

It's basically uncontrollable, and not much you can about it, only to not spam your links. I don't spam my links, thankfully and haven't received a swift kick in my a$$ and don't want to either. Please Google be nice to me. Have you pushed your link building too much and received a swift kick in the rankings? Hahaha.

When I was reading some discussions about penalties on keyword stuffing and excessive backlink building, I didn’t believe it entirely because I am wondering how Google could find the violation. Take for instance the backlinks, will Google check on one site for your backlinks to see if you have posted so many in that site? Anyway as you declare that you have been penalized so maybe I have to believe it now.
