What would make you quit freelancing?

Hmm i never actually thought about quiting freelancing. Like any other business it have it's own ups and downs but still not so stressful like some other types of business. I owned my coffee shop years ago as well as some other businesses and with all stress we get as freelancers, it's still nothing in compare to having shop. So i like it as it is now and i feel comfortable. And that's advantage of FREEDOM as FREELANCER.

I had an online shop and that was stressful! I can just imagine how stressful a coffee shop would be!

I'm sure freelancers get a lot of grief from clients, but still you are ultimately working for yourself, setting your own hours etc.

I have been asked by a few people to write for their websites and I said no. I just don't want to deal with people much. Yes I deal with people a little bit, but as a blogger it is all my own terms. I want to write about what I want to write about, not topics given to me.

I don't think I could ever go back to working for someone else again.

Well in your own shop (like coffee shop for example) we need to deal with customers, different taxes, GST taxes, different inspections, many different insurances, banking, book keeping, high bills, different suppliers and soooooo many other things which you can forget as freelancer, specially on marketplace it's much simplified in compare to physical business store

No I don't think I will even quit,when bills never stop coming in.I'm trying not to get a regular either so for now I don't even think about quitting for anything.

I've always wanted to own a little coffee shop of my own. However, the costs of starting up a coffee shop is very expensive. I've done research in the past and to open a coffee shop for me would cost about $75-100k. Now if I were to get the money to open one and freelance on the side, this would most likely cause productivity issues. It's very hard to run your own business, and freelance on the side. If your business is the same as the freelancing work you do than it may not be as hard. What are some issues you faced with your business and could you get time to actually freelance on the side, or would you have to choose between the shop and freelancing?

Oh i was not very active with freelancing at that time, i choose only jobs well paid and do it after work as i can. It was good fun to have own coffee shop with regular clientele and i was enjoying it, but year after year there is more and more regulations which push you to spend more money on something that you not selling so i decided to sell the business. But it was one good experience with some good memories to have

Hi Beverly thanks for your nice question regarding quit freelancing. I have started freelancing career more than 7 years from now and before 7 years I have started land business and I do couple of years and I also successfully do some business but I could not deal properly due to some deceiver clients and eventually I have to leave that business away. And that situation influence me to come other sector and eventually I become a freelancing job. I feel very comfort as a freelancer and I do not need to get such stress and risk. No hassling problem and no haggling problem. It is just awesome feel as a freelancer

I would probably put my freelancing career to an end if I somehow ended up losing more than I could afford.. Every business has it's ups and downs and I've been through both good and bad times before. And I'm still standing.. But if I frequently would start to lose money each and every week or month, no matter what kind of changes I did, I would probably just let it all go.. I think so at least.

As a freelancer, especially in darker times, you'll need some skills to evolve and come out at the top, and until this very day, I've always managed to pull through these dark times.. But in case I wouldn't be able to do so.. Well.. Then I guess it would be Game Over.

Ages ago, I considered giving up freelancing when I didn’t get much business and it was very stressful. It just seems like it was impossible to get anyone to purchase my service, no matter how hard I advertised. I then got some advice from other freelancers and they told me that I should be patient and they told me how I could change to get more business and I did indeed got more business and after that, things got better and I am glad I didn’t give up. From then onwards, whenever, I do something, I always do it until the end and never give up and I really want to tell people that you can succeed if you don't give up but you won't if you do give up.

I think I have got addicted to it. Not in a bad way, but it fills a substantial part of my day and I could not imagine life without it now that I have been doing this for about 8 years. I love it and apart from being work it is also like a hobby to a certain extent as I enjoy doing it in reality. I love writing and the fact that I can put my writing skills to good use while serving diverse needs clients have gives me satisfaction and fulfillment. I think I would keep at ti no matter what.

Freelancing surely keeps you busy, that's a given. I believe in the future everyone will be considered as a "freelancer" or in some aspect a "freelancer". The internet is so powerful you can earn a comfortable salary, without ever leaving your front door, in the privacy and security of your own home. There are some downsides but there is downsides to almost anything.

If you were just a local writer, you probably wouldn't have the diverse clients you were mentioning. We as freelancers are given the ability to connect with clientele from all areas of the globe, and that is truly amazing.

I don't see myself ever stop working online. Now if I won the lottery I'd definitely stop offering services to clients and start making a super awesome website that I like and others will too. I'd make money from ad revenue over time, it would probably be a huge loss for the first 10 years but eventually it would work out, or I'd sell it lol

I've been scammed before, and it really sucks, but it hasn't stopped me from working online as a freelancer. If you can't get over a hurdle, you should never have gotten in the race in the first place ;)

Learn from you mistakes and look back at them as something you aren't going to do again in the future

I've not got a clue on what is going to make me quit freelancing anytime soon. Imean this is like an offline business where you make mistakes every passing day and learning from those mistakes is a sure way to go about making it online. So, I will have to careful to make it as a freelancer online.

I will never quit freelancing, I may take a break from freelancing, but never quit freelancing. The only thing that will make me quit freelancing is the unavailability of jobs. If there are no jobs, how could a freelancer survive? The second thing that could make me quit is poor income. If I cannot manage to earn enough, there is no point in hanging on.

One thing that is pushing me to quit my freelancing work is not the low earnings but the low rating that I get from forum admins. It is very discouraging to be rated way below par. It's really disheartening for my good works to be disregarded by the low rating given by irresponsible people. Pardon me for this rant. I am just being honest. That rating people's work should have a clear set of guidelines and should not be left to the taste of people.

This is a common problem in forum posting. As a freelance writer, you will have to look for other avenues as well. perhaps, starting your own blog will be a better idea. If you don't want to spend on self-hosted blog, you can try free blogging platforms or start publishing on niche content sites like Hubpages.

Being scammed online will be one bad experience that won't convince me to quit freelancing.

I might quit freelancing if my offline life demands much of my time. If I get a good offline source of income and a happy little family of my own, I might quit freelancing completely or still continue with it.

To be honest I love writing but spending hours on the screen is what I don't like. So I want to do freelancing offline too.
