How to Browse Safely on the Internet

Bitdefender TrafficLight is a simple browser extension which will protect your while browsing on the internet. This extension is completely free and available on browsers : Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Safari.

Click here to Download , after downloading... install it on your Browser, then you will see this icon in the upper right corner of your Browser ( I'm using Google Chrome).

To go to settings click to the extension icon, then click to settings.

Neat article. When I read the title originally, I assumed you meant "without being spied on" and was going to be about Tor.

Oh that's cool. Would this be the equivalent of an antivirus, like take the place of one or would you use this in addition to an antivirus?

This is a great guide! I use the Kaspersky version of this which comes with Kaspersky Internet Security. This is very useful to see which websites are safe and which ones are not when searching on Google. More and more ant-viruses are adding these features to their Internet Security packages. For example, Kaspersky has “Safe Pay” which basically checks that you are on the real payment site when on sites where you have payment, for example, PayPal.

@Idealmike, it is true that most anti-virus has these. I used AVG in the past and they had something similar but the Bitdefender gets better test results so the Bitdefender version is probably better in my opinion.

Good guide sir! I will definitely try this out. There are already dangerous sites out there so it's better to be safe than sorry. Question though, would this work fine when I am using a VPN?

I am using a Google Chrome both on our laptop and desktop. However, I was warned by our office tech not to download any plug in to the internet browser because it will drag the speed of access. I know the purpose of anti-virus software whether it is a plug in or not. It will check on the site before it allows you to enter which is actually a few steps required to check on the safety of the site. In that case, that is the reason for a slower access of the browser.
