I have been assigned an article to write for my employer's company blog. I am already backed up on work to do and have no time to properly research. However, I don't want to lose my job. Can I simply hire someone to research or write the article and turn it in like that?

You will want to proof read and check over the article (and research) to check for accuracy and thoroughness.
You might want to give the article a quick rewrite in some parts to give it your style.
If you are just outsourcing the research, you will need to do a search to ensure that all relevant information available has been collected.
