Section for service discounts?

Hello,

I believe there should be a section on the forum where people can post discounts to their service or a special promotion they have running, like I have a buy 2 get 1 free offer for my service. It would help people find great deals and help sellers find new customers.

What are your thoughts?

I think it would be overcrowded by people offering hundreds of "special offers" per day.

I agree with both.
I think it would be a good idea to have something like that, but I do think it would be spammed a really lot.

I think there should be a limit like 500$ services sold = forum promotion available.

Instead of the services sold, maybe it could use the levels, it could be a benefit for the promotion part I guess.

Good day to all!!

The discounted services is a great idea. I feel though there would have to be rules and guidelines.
@mqss had a good suggestion with having a start price. I'm not saying $750, but there would have to be a set amount required. It would demolish listings being posted with $3, $15, $30, etc services, therefore eliminating every person known to man posting.

When it comes to the "people offering hundreds of "special offers" per day." perhaps it could be made like the bumping system, BUT the individuals can ONLY list ONE "Special Offer" listing per day. That should cut down on the overflow, in addition maybe it can also have it's own search so people wouldn't have to scroll down page after page of "specials" that their not looking for.

I can understand why there would be spam issues involved in such a situation. However, maybe if each user were allowed to create ONE forum thread that could be updated when a new discount or sale price is available for their own services, rather than creating a new post every time they wanted to advertise.

And, all these threads would be on their own subforum. This is commonly done on promotion or advertising forums. And, the member would simply bump the thread if anything new is available to offer. But, bumping for bumping sake just to get the thread to the top might be reason to have the thread deleted.

There's a "Guaranteed only" option on the marketplace, which allows people to see all the services that has a guarantee from the provider. How about adding a "On Sale" section instead of creating forum threads?

The forum has a "advertising" section already, which is used by some people from time to time. Mostly to tell people about something cool & unique they offer and not just when they put their services on sale. However, allowing people to advertise their "Get 2 pay for 1" multiple times per day will be extremely over-used and I'd never browse such a thread.. I think most people will be tired of all the "new junk" that's being posted every minute.. That's why I personally would prefer a "On sale" option directly on the marketplace instead of forums threads/posts.

With that said, I can't say that I actually believe in more sales & more exposure with such an option.. I think most people know what they're looking for and I don't think they'll spend time browsing tons of "on sale" services just to save a couple of bucks doing so, but I'd still prefer such an option instead of using the forum for advertising this way. Just my 2 cents.

People are always spamming their services on forum anyway in threads (check out my service/link, etc). A subforum for this would just give moderators a place to move all that spam rather than having to delete it. And, there is a good reason for the members to be able to advertise. More advertising even on forum equals more sales and more site revenue and everyone wins.
