Everyone has their own hard luck story. There is no reason to imagine one hard luck story trumps them all. If one member gets away with begging, they will all want to do it.

Asking for money from fellow members is not bad if you urgently need some money. There is nothing like begging.

Rather than beg for money, it would be better if they offered a good service for sale or asked for investing partners in a good idea.

There are many scammers online. And, some people don't really need money but will beg for it anyway, just to see if they can get it. Or, maybe they are doing this to troll or cause trouble with others or just don't want to get a job and work for the money. Then again, there are some really sad situations where a person needs money and will ask online as that is the only source they have.

Just use caution when approached by someone asking for money, especially if you don't know that person as you never know if their need is real or not.

If one person is begging, then they might all start begging. And, there are better ways to get money than asking strangers that you don't know on a forum. If this kind of activity was done via pm from your friend on forum, then maybe it would be more acceptable than if it was done open forum.

You have the option to remove these threads or posts and ask the member not to do it again. You don't necessarily have to ban if the member has been good in other ways such as contributing valuable content to the site.

We're not really that kind of forum. And, I'm not really sure where that type of conversation would fit in.

I do not like it when some beg for money and such. I have a hard enough time earning that I don't feel it is right.

There's a time and a place for such instances. Forums are not the place to do so. There are sites where you can try to raise money for your troubled times, so that way people can donate if they wish.

A fund raiser would be a lovely idea if the from member who needs the money is more like family.

Indigogo and fundly are two good sites for fundraising if you really need it for a forum fundraiser.

A few months ago, I received a private message about a new forum that is needing financial donations for the upkeep particularly the hosting expenses. I don’t know why I was sent a solicitation, maybe the guy saw one of my posts where I indicated that I am working as an executive of a bank. I did not report it because for me, it’s a simple case of seeking help. But if he had repeated his message and became insistent, for sure I will report him to the admin.
