You could just remove the comments but that doesn't address the underlying reason there was such abusive language on your forum. The person who made the comments will still be free to make future comments and will do so most likely when you are off forum. You need to censure someone who is causing disharmony and animosity on your forum.

Remove it and then address the person who left it. Let me know what your policy is on this, such as 3 strikes and you are out.

You shouldn't tolerate abusive comments even if they are coming from a long time member, who feels entitled to push others around. The forum management has a responsibility to protect everyone on the forum not just a few favorites.

Yes you should always have a policy like this in place so others can know what is to be expected.

I never accept abusive comments and remove them as soon as I find out. I do contact the person who wrote the abusive comments first so they know what they've done wrong. If they continue to abuse members, that is a member I don't want. I like the friendly community atmosphere.

First is to remove the offending post. But I would prefer to move it to an archive board that can be viewed by the staff only. It can serve as proof in case of disputes. Next is to inform the member about the offending post. Maybe you can ban the member on the 3rd occasion which means you have given him 2 chances to straighten up.
