Does domain authority help to boost SEO for better SERP?

Since domain authority and page authority metrics are not Google's service, i am interested if DA and PA really help in positioning on Google search (SERP)?

If yes, please can you explain how it works with Google!

The Moz Domain Authority and Page Authority score are not officially recognized by Google and only intended to give you an idea of how well a page or site will rank in Google search. Google does not officially recognize DA or PA as a guideline for ranking sites.

I spent about twenty minutes on Google search for this question and only found one slightly official announcement from Google from the Webmaster Central Help Forum. And, if you have any other official Google.com related announcements about DA or PA, (not associated with Moz or other sites quoting them), then that would be greatly appreciated.

?If your site is already well optimized onpage SEO and off page SEO and following Google Webmaster Guidelines for creating high quality websites, then you are likely going to rank very well in Google search AND have good Domain Authority or Page Authority.

Thanks to both of you for such useful answers and links. By following your advice and information from links you provided, i guess i was on right path to do offpage SEO for one of my websites since onpage SEO is done pretty good. I am also using Google webmaster tool frequently where everything look OK and i notice growth of domain authority and page authority of my website but lately there is less and less indexed pages in Google search, while my website is positioned on page 1 in Google search for some keywords, so i am bit confused and looking to improve my SERP and display more pages in search.

Your Domain authority will be higher if you get quality backlinks to your domain. High domain authority means a good amount of backlinks. backlinks are one of the primary factors of search engine ranking. Your search engine ranking will improve if you get quality backlinks,. Since DA is related to backlinks and backlinks are related to SERP, domain authority helps to improve your search engine ranking.

Let me share my understanding of Page Authority. Search engines are more for the page authority which is the second rung of evaluation. Domain authority is the first in the priority list of evaluation that the website is decided to be included in the search list. And the Page authority is checked and evaluated for the ranking in the page list. Of course, there are other factors which depend on the algorithm of the search engine but that’s my idea when it comes to domain authority and page authority.
