Pillowfort: Worth it so far?

Given the recent tumblr exodus after their most recent ToS change, a lot of people moved to Pillowfort. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to sign on after the site stopped taking in new sign-ups due to the unexpected flood of new users. To those of you who have managed to make an account over there, is it worth it to build a portfolio over there?

Pillowfort sounds very new to me and in all honesty, this is actually my very first time of hearing of this social media site. I have a very good experience with Tumblr before it degraded in my opinion, maybe Pillowfort will be very inspiring and interesting to use.

My first time hearing about it also. I assume the ToS change being referred to is about the decision to delete adult content blogs. If so, I knew the users would have to come up with an alternative since Tumblr would no longer allow adult content or porn. The thing is when Tumblr made that announcement I distinctly remember them saying something to the effect "There are plenty of porn sites on the Internet. You don't need to use Tumblr for that!" LOL. At any rate, even though there are "plenty", do you mean to say somebody still created a brand new platform??

During the heyday of Tumblr it was the best site in my opinion, then those adult content blog/porn blogs started popping up and I think that helped with the decline of the community. But I'm glad they changed their ToS, since Tumblr was a great site. It certainly needs to come back.

Honestly, I only learned of Pillowfort thanks to a number of the tumblr blogs I followed posting about it. I've tried out the demo, but I wasn't sure if there were features that weren't available in said demo. Nevertheless, I think it's worth looking into as a backup plan in case things go south for tumblr again.

Hopefully, a new platform crops up soon.

As the site is still very new, it's a bit too early to tell whether it will actually gain enough popularity to become a true alternative to Tumblr or not.
I suppose that it wouldn't hurt to move the content of your Tumblr blog over to it, as it will give you at least a bit of exposure and can be helpful when it comes to SEO. Even if Pillowfort doesn't really take off, it will still give you backlinks to your site and a bit of exposure for your portfolio.

Well, in my opinion what you suggested about moving one's contents from Tumblr to Pillowfort isn't a bad idea. It's actually something one should take into serious consideration because of how poor Tumblr is becoming recently.

I agree with you. It may not be a bad idea. It's actually worth trying.

I am not familiar with Pillowfort. This is also my first time information to know. I am not into such activity to compare Pillowfort to Tumblr. However, both platform offers benefits to users. Each users have different preference and likes on different social media platform. Perhaps, Pillowfort will gain it's popularity in later times as users will know and recognize it.

It really depends on how liberal Pillowfort is, I really haven't seen it yet but I've read this ....

....and it seems that Pillowfort is a new platform which accepts adult content.

This is the first time I heard about Pillowfort. I just went to check out the site, though it doesn't accept new registration at the moment, I like the feature they allow us to login as a demo user and check around how the site is. As the site was just launched not long ago and still in beta version, hence it's hard to tell whether it's worth to start blogging over there though it's said it's the better social media platform. As they are still improving their features, perhaps it's good to joint their waiting list and hopefully when they open for new registration, the site will be much better and with greater features.

Oh, Pillowfort is so unfamiliar but it sounds nice. I think I have to check its site and see if the comments above are true.

I never heard of pillowfort until now. I took a look at the website and logged in using the demo user. I didn't spend much time checking things out maybe 2 minutes. The website seemed to be simple with not a lot of features. What doesn't make sense is that If they are currently having problems with too much traffic, then this says to me that they do not have money to upgrade basic things. Adding additional web & db servers, load balancers, splitting databases, rewriting bad code is not that much money and would fix traffic issues so, I don't understand why anyone would ever limit their signups. Maybe they don't have a business model that earns any revenue. If this is the case, then in my opinion they should have waited to launch.

It's my first time to hear about Pillowfort. Maybe you can check some reviews online to help you decide on that matter.

Wow, haha, I don't even know what that is. I didn't even use Tumblr in fact, because I've found it to be useless, and now there's an even newer one similar to it? I honestly don't understand the whole point of these new social medias? For example, why use Instagram when you have Facebook? Is there something I'm missing out?
