Will writing on paper go obsolete or scrapped in future?

With the way technological advancement is going on in the world today, will it be possible to get to a phase where writing on any kind of paper would be deem obsolete and scrapped from existence?

I have watched so many Sci-fi movies and seen lots of techs enables writing on glass. Would this later be a trend in the future?

The days of
writing on paper and even books are numbered. It's really the next step towards full digitalization, which eventually will happen in the next 25 years.

I don't like the idea of paper becoming obsolete. I hope that when the time comes, it's still practiced by people. Even just as a hobby. Writing on paper is very important for us as creative individuals.

MendasDigital
Absolutely. I don't think it's a future that's too far off either. This will save a lot of trees, but result in a lot more power usage. As demand for paper decreases the price will go up I would think.

Kakashi2020
In my opinion writing on paper would become obsolete in 20-30 years from now. With all the devices nowadays, sometimes I'm thinking that writing on paper should have been obsolete a year or two ago. That would mean fewer trees cut and it would lessen pollution.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
I think I would agree with you that it'll be obsolete in the future. But, that's too soon for your prediction. I think, it would be like 1000 years from now. If life on Earth is still possible. Lol

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jeane
1000!

I think it will be sooner than that. You've noticed how paper books are gradually being phased out? How soon before it is a requirement for all kids to use laptops or tablets in school? A few decades after that there'll be fewer people writing on paper.

I'm supposing that keyboards themselves will become obsolete eventually. You just dictate anything you want recorded and the computer does everything else.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

luv2xacosta
Yes that's true. People rely on technologies now a days. Books can be read through e-books or kindle or just download it in pdf format. Some just use their tablet to write some important things on it.

I agree with you. One of the possible reason for this is to conserve our nature. This act can save a lot of trees and also can save a lot of efforts of writers when drafting their articles. It can be a great contribution.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Alymae
This would probably be one of the positive effect of not using papers. No more cutting of trees. It would be nice if this could be made possible someday. But I still like to write on paper.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

luv2xacosta
Definitely true. People mostly rely now on gadgets. Now that technology is very accessible, we rather put it our smartphones, laptops or in our tablets instead of writing it to paper.

I honestly don't think it is, more and more people are becoming fountain pen enthusiasts. Everyday, new members join bullet journal and planner groups. And each and every member of said groups, write and create using pen, ink, and paper. As the Fountain Pen and Ink industry thrives, so does writing on paper.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's one advantage. I wonder how things will go without papers to write on. Well, I guess it'll still exist in some form. Like a more limited form of use. Everything now is pretty much digital.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Franzel2oo
If you are asking if it is possible, then I say yes, as is with all things. However, we must admit that papers are quite practical even with how far technology has come in recent years. Papers offer quite a few advantages. They are easy to carry. They are easy to save information on. There is also a feel you get when you read on paper that can hardly be replaced. My believe is, there will always be a place for papers in future. The question is, what kind of paper will it be by then?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jelineex
I think writing on paper will still be around even on high end years. It is convenient and affordable compared to any gadgets that will replace paper. Besides,, paper is used in our early formal education. This will help a person to develop his ability to write and draw. Our hands needs to be move and use. It seems incomplete when you only know how to press and click when you can't even hold a pen properly.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I agree. You cannot just teach the students to point and click on the screen. You have to teach them how write in order for them to start from the basics.

I maybe impolite and excuse my word. The more we advance in technology, people are becoming crazy and lazy. We are becoming dependent on technology. We forget to use our brain and realize it's uses. Perhaps, one day there will be a for sale "brain machine" like a heart pacemaker.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Hahahaha. If you are saying this right now I wonder what you will be saying when there are robots available to do almost everything to be done.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jelineex
I don't wonder if robots will replace human in the next generation. Since, robots exist but not to it's perfection. Artificial intelligence has somehow connect the minds of programmers and developers. The challenge will be if human are ready to serve their master ( robot ) in the future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stormbreaker10
Im reading this is like chilling my veins. I imagine already this and it really scary if this will come true someday.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jelineex
Yes, it would be a different situation. I can't imagine, if a robot fired me because of my tardiness. It will surely break my heart. Will robots be automatic in the future, they don't need fast charger?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
It's quite scary to think that there might be a chance that robots replacing humans in our world. They should just be an aid and not a replacement. We should not be dependent on them because we are the one who created them we shoudl be able to control them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jelineex
Well, it could be possible in the near future. We don't know. But, as what I have observed most of the people are becoming dependent in technology. To make life easy. Human has a brilliant mind. It might come up to an idea of creating a new prototype robot similar to human look with better brain. Innovators and inventors are always performing their duties. They are getting better each day. I don't know. I might be dead when it happen.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I hope that people can still stand on their own even without the help of technology but that is becoming impossible as our technology continues to develop. When that time comes, I think everything that has to deal with paper or pen will diminish and people will really depend on technology.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
You have a very good point. I think it will be best to learn from the basics first.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think that it is also great to start with an initial great product rather than one which you know that already has issues. It will take long to fix and you might lose customers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think that writing on paper would still undergo even though we would experience some advancement in the technology as time goes by because many people are already used to it. It is very hard to let go those things that you already used to it for a longer period of time. I cannot imagine myself writing on a glass in the near future since I am not convenient in doing that way. I would still prefer the traditional writing if ever we discovered some new way of writing some articles.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
I gree with you. If there is a slight chance of going zero-paper, I think it would be after a thousand years.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I also think that the aspect of writing is important as a child will develop some motor skills when they are learning.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think so because technology keeps on advancing, we can't predict the future, and also it can save our resources if we eliminate papers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The thing is that there are places that making use of some technological equipments are yet to reach and this is something that we should be looking at when we talk of writing on paper as I believe that it is going to be around in the long-run.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I don't think usage of water will be obsolete but it will lessen. Technology will never stop in advancing, evem paper could be replaced. But I don't think that people will really stop using paper because we can use glass instead of it. There will be some people who will still use paper for their notes and writings.

Although the use of pen and paper has reduced considerably when it comes to office and business work, i dont think that the use of paper will completely stop in the near future. Paper will always be used for all sorts of educational purposes and also in case of some government work. I dont htink that the children will be able to learn writing and reading without there pencils and notebooks. However in most of the offices of both private and public organizations there is a considerable reduction in the amount of paper work which has resulted in the saving of time and resources.Maybe someday in the future we will have an alternative for the use of paper for even learning and educational purposes.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
I don't think it will become obsolete in the future. It is because we can't always rely on technology and electricity as they may go off sometimes. Also, if ever it becomes obsolete, perhaps, it woul be after a thousand years, when the world would have a very advanced technology.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
That's a really good point - as fantastic as technology is, there are always instances where things happen such as power outages and in those circumstances we're always going to need to revert back to good old fashioned pen and paper. There's still definitely a place for them in society!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is going to help pretty difficult for us to say that writing on paper is going to help scrapped. I mean things just work that way unless we are trying to focus it on a particular geographical area at the moment. Writing on paper always means that there is so much to come from they way that a whole lot of things happen in a place.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I hope it doesn't go obsolete! I think that handwritten stuff still has its place in the world. I always much prefer a handwritten letter or card, for instance, than an email message.

In saying that, from a work context it's probably more environmentally friendly to work on computers than on paper.

I believe that the most significant market share of paper users are the schools and students. But here in our country, some institutions do things electronically like submission of assignments (via email), posting of reminders (via social media), exams are online, and even enrollment is paperless.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Yes, some colleges even offer entire courses online these days. You can get your required textbooks in ebook version, your lectures and study materials are all given online, your exams are completed online. It seems to be the way of the future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Could be, the only thing that might use paper in the future are pre-schools since it is required to know how to write penmanship by hand. Otherwise, everything may go paperless all the way.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stormbreaker10
Possible to get of writting on paper because of technology as of today, but in some writters is still love to write on paper because it depends of how they can express their works.

A paperless society might be possible in the future. Today, Google - the largest tech company in the world has a paperless system. Everything is done electronically, and the use of paper is not in existence.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I never knew that about Google but I guess it makes sense - they're such a progressive and forward thinking company that it doesn't really come as a surprise that they're completely paperless - especially since they're the creators of Google Docs and Google Drive!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
Yes, there is less use of paper out there. I think the more important thing isn't the paperlessness but the alternatives that are used to encourage it. I mean It's much more about how to promote paperlessness vs. just being paperless.

I don’t assume paper will disappear completely. I would really like to think that wooden-pulp paper turns into extinct and replaced by using hemp paper. Hemp paper is greater durable, band greater ecologically sustainable.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
No way. Paper is still useful for stuff like post-its, reminders, quickly jotting down information over the phone, etc. It's also good for posting messages to people who live in apartment complexes about any maintenance or upcoming work.

The usage of paper in the future might be lessened but I don't think they would be replaced completely. We might also innovate by making some changes with our papers like water proof papers or the like. Since I love drawing, I find it weird to not have paper in the future. Even though we can make drawings in adobe and such, there's nothing that beat a drawing done with bare hands on a paper. It is more artistic and personal. Other than that, bugs and errors do still exist which writing in paper makes it more secure to write something important.

In worst case scenarios both the writing in paper and digital have limited shelf life. There was a reason why people used to crave on rocks because they tend to hold the information longer. That's one thing why I think people in past were understanding of how the things could go down and how it can get scrapped in such case. That's what I have realized in that case when reading about papyrus for the information storage.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I highly doubt it.
Myself I find it easier to write some short information on a paper rather than pulling out my Smartphone (that's regarding notes). Although I can concur that you can lose that paper piece. In schools, university and etc I think writing on paper may indeed go extinct.

I am not so sure. Paper has been such an integral material in society for hundreds and hundreds of years now, ever since it was discovered and first used in the ancient times. I agree that there is an opportunity for other media to take over, with the rapid rise in technology. However, I don't think it will come to a point that paper will be obsolete - or at least, not in the near future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
The reasons for cutting back on the use of paper was to help improve the environment. As paper disposal was a problem in terms of how many trees it took to create large amounts of paper. I think where we are now is at a good place, but paper will never completely die. Also remember printers, scripts and artwork all use paper. Another reason paper will never go away in full.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

astraherondale
Yes - paper is just too ubiquitous that it would take decades for it to completely be obsolete. I do agree, though, that environmentalists have been campaigning for minimizing paper usage and more and more people are shifting to softcopies and going paperless.

More and more schools these days are using eBooks but of course there is the option to use physical books as well. I think there is a possibility that paper will be obsolete in the future as more and more people opt to using digital means rather than paper. But as for me, I prefer paper. It's easier for me to jot down and having a physical copy is better. Plus, the smell of books is just divine.

I agree. The painting and the art is always going to be there. It just that we may move to digital for the documents and the transaction. And also there are going to be some documents that may move to digital if they can be 100% moved. But anything that is educational will surely remain the paper related.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

cmoneyspinner
Most definitely. I advise my kids that if it's an important document, especially if used for school or work, make a paper copy. You never know when the technology will go KAPUT! If somebody says they can't provide you with something because they can't access the computer system, show them the paper document.

I used to work for a bank and we always kept paper reports for when the computers went bonkers! We know when a customer comes to handle a business transaction like withdraw their own money to pay urgent bills, they don't want to hear any excuse about the computer system not working. They want their money!!

Indeed that's one reason I have taken paper copy of my social security documents and other educational documents. You never know when things can go wrong. And people at administration can shrug off when they want to. That's one reason I think we have to mind how tech seems to be affecting us.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think that writing on a paper is the very easy and simplest form of writing that was ever created and invented a thousand years ago. I believe it cannot be easily deleted even if we experience some changes as time goes by because we have different and unique preferred way when it comes to writing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Absolutely it will be obsolete in the future. People now a days mostly rely on their tablet, laptop or even smartphone. Even in class teachers don't write in the board but instead they have projector where they will just show it to the students. Most of the people preferred it that way because it is a lot more convenient to them.

As for me, I would still write in the notebook. There is a different of feeling when you are writing on a notebook and and just simply watch. I just appreciate my hand writings and me happiness when ever I write using a pen.

I just thought of something. Eventually writing on paper would be obsolete. There's no argument on that, communication would evolve and writing would soon be no more. Having said that, would writing be a Lost Art in the future?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Janie1994
Writing on paper may eventually go away but keeping paper documents will never fully go away. It's really the only way to track everything and make sure that it maintains its existence. Getting rid of written paper products runs the risk of history and improtant information disappearing so it will never fully happen.

I think that there will always be some old-school people out there that will still write on a peace of paper. But I also think that most of the people will forget that writing on a peace of paper ever existed.. That's just my opinion.

I find it unsettling. We can only hope that it doesn't happen. Human beings are worth so much more than we could ever imagine. We have souls that go on after life on Earth.

I'm not sure. Maybe after a long time. But it's not something that could happen in a few years. I hope it takes more than a century before that happens. It could seriously endanger the art of handwriting. Something that must be kept alive for future generations to come.

No, written documents are more powerful and legit. And when it comes to personal messages it is more heartfelt to read a written letter. I think more people use computerized letter because it is the most proper look. But for me never under estimate the handwritten documents or letter.

My guess is that at some point in the future, pen and paper will have a revival. We all rely on technology, but the world seems to be veering towards a point where there are wars, rumours of wars and sooner or later, technology will be targetted. It is great while we have it, but to rely on it completely seems a foolhardy way to go. Either the technnology will fail or handwriting will become a craft that people do for a hobby. Sadly, I suspect the former scenario is likely.

I actually have raised this question to the young parents in one gathering. Do you think that it is still important for children to learn cursive writing? Most of the parents agreed that writing in printed form is not really that important today because the technology is changing the traditional way of writing with the use of pen and paper. It is more important for the child to learn the proper use of keyboard typing so he would be quick and accurate. That is what we need now and not the pen and paper anymore.

Cursive writing is important if not for signing contracts, but for signing at the store when you are using your credit card. Those electronic scanners as for your signature after making a purchase. If your script sucks, the computer might not recognize your buy as a legal purchase.

For me it is still worth it to use the writing on a piece of paper method because I am comfortable with it, even though I am experiencing some advancement right now in technology I would still used the writing on paper because I feel motivated when I am writing on a paper on my articles. I can do good writings than using some technology that we have for now.

My prediction is based on if and when writing on paper becomes obsolete then it follows that handwriting as a form of communication would also cease to be a norm for humans. With all the tech tools being used nowadays. Handwriting is mostly being used by students and a few adults. Most adults rarely handwrites nowadays.

My prediction about writing on a paper in the future would be is that it would slowly going to be diminished since some people would prefer the use of technology for writing purposes to make their life convenient and easier. It is not really impossible to happen because we all know that we are finding some ways to make our work and life better and enjoyable up to the fullest.

Writing on paper is the most direct way to get your ideas down. It is also a great way to sort through your thoughts and organize them into a coherent plan.

It is a common misconception that the best sublimation paper is the one that is printed on a printer. This is not true, because you can use any type of paper to make sublimation prints. The best sublimation paper has to be the one that is made specifically for this purpose.

There are many different types of sublimation papers available in the market today, and they all have their own unique qualities. The best sublimation paper will be one that has a smooth surface without any roughness or bumps. It should also be able to absorb heat well so that it does not crack or melt when exposed to high temperatures.

If you want your sublimation prints to look as good as possible, then it is important that you only use high quality papers for making them. You should also make sure that your printer has plenty of ink cartridges so that there will be no problem in printing anything from these papers.
