Do you really need to do SEO these days?

I’m subscribed to a YouTube channel that’s fairly new but it has around 50K subs. Two guys are making niche websites together, putting ads on them for profit, and then selling them. So they have a lot of tutorial style videos and giving tips on SEO optimization. They both claim that Google’s algorithm doesn’t work like before and say you really don’t need optimization these days. They even claim that some of their websites are even not published in Google’s search (are not submitted manually). What would you say about that? Do you concur?

Greetings

You gotta ask those guys how did they get the 50k subscribers. The best way to know is to expeience it ourselves to see of SEO still works or not. Or try applying the advice of those guys in their tutorial to see if it really works.

Exactly. I actually don't think that it's easy to make a website successful without the help of an SEO. If what those guys saying are a hundred percent fact, then I don't think websites would still invest on SEOs. However, that's not the case because SEO is still relevant up to this day so I don't think what those YouTubers/Vloggers are saying is true.

What are those Youtube vloggers saying about SEO that it has no more use for the site? I have come across several discussions in this site about SEO being dead or SEO not useful anymore. I wonder why there are people who have the propensity to peddle lies that they make it appear as facts and not speculation. This is all about internet culture that shows we cannot fully trust what we see in the internet.

Search engines were made to make it easier to find information on the internet.

When someone enters a search query, the search engine will look through the web and find what it "deems" to be most relevant. Now what SEO does is make it easier for the search engine to determine whether your content will provide the answer someone (using the search engine) is seeking.

If your article, doesn't contain any keywords used by someone using a search engine, your article won't be shown in the search results. Why? A lack of the appropriate keywords or search phrase raises questions about the relevance of that article.

I think I have came across those guys also in their youtube channel. Yes, according to them they don't do SEO on their websites but they rank high in Google's Search Engine and they earn lots of money from their websites. I'm not an SEO especialist so I'm just going to borrow what most SEO experts are saying that "Content is the King". Write long high quality content on your website and you'll rank high in search engines. So maybe their content is really helpful to readers and every time they write article, the way they create their title and content is already optimized. So even they said that they don't bother themselves optimizing their content, Google rank them high because of their well written post.

I know many websites which have done SEO and not getting traffic. And many sites that have not done SEO and seem to be doing good as well. Each of our context is different. Some of the time google does the work. And most of the other times you have to do the harder work. I have learned that it can be lot easier that way if you know how the SEO works more effectively.

I think they are speaking and asking more about the relevance of SEO today as compared to what it was a couple of years back. Many people tend to think that SEO work is overrated in modern times and you should implement other strategies to grow your business.

I still think SEO is a big factor in the success of the site/business. SEO is still present and is widely applied by almost every website. It still helps both the website owner and the researcher.

That is what I thought at first. I thought we do not need SEO anymore. How will people find your posts without SEO in search engines? How will SERPS find you? It is only by good SEO. It is therefore necessary even now.

Yes you do need to do SEO. But you should also do SMM. If you can do both, then you should.

It depends on the situation but, I believe SEO is still advisable to use especially if you are having a hard time to boost it. Well, I guess for those two guys, they are just lucky to get well known ahead before they need SEO. But yes, I also agree that the content of your website does a big role of its success. Of course people like good content and it is basically what they want.

The answer is yes. SEO can improve your website's visibility on the search engine. I know that great content can help but to think that a lot of business owners can make a great content, it will be hard to compete with them without SEO. One goal of having SEO is to build a strong foundation for your website and also the authority.

The foundation is very important especially when the website is new. You can't do without SEO as that is the foundation on which most popular sites began to thrive. The way that things should always go means that you need to be ahead when working to make things happen.

I once asked this from an SEO friend of mine, and according to him, it still does. Based on his experience, the people who say “SEO doesn’t work” have for the most part, not given enough time for it to work, or followed SEO best practices.

That's interesting feedback. I've heard that doing legit SEO is really time consuming and does take a while to yield results, but that's apparently normal. I imagine that like your friend said, maybe they just didn't give it enough time for those results to be evident.

Yes, according to him. The ideal timeframe is usually more than six months. It's always best to give it time as success doesn't happen overnight.

Heey @SVibes what is the name of the site or youtube channel rather so that I can check it out. I need to really know how they operate and how trustworthy I can consider them before i can make anty comments. I would love to know exactly what they say about the irrelevance of SEO as well.

Those websites aren't submitted manually because they most probably have loads of backlinks. And when it comes to indexation, backlinks matter a lot more than the actual manual submission. This is how it always been. Google will always put a lot more importance on backlinks because it is the main way it discovers new websites and pages, there are a lot of people and websites out there that have no idea what Search Console is and yet they are getting indexed and some of them are even turning a nice profit around.

It is true that in some cases you don't really need to worry about SEO. But if you want to be better than your competitors, if you want to see some actual growth in organic traffic, if you want to keep increasing your stats once you got indexed by Google, you will need SEO. In other words, I don't believe you can achieve something great with a website, without SEO.
Those two guys probably have some structure in place where the on-page SEO is already set in the website's templates, they are just increasing the authority and therefore ranks by boosting those domains with backlinks. This is an old tactic of making money from SEO, but Google keeps combating it for years and it is now very difficult to turn a buck around with this method, Google can figure out your website has little to zero worth and will stop ranking you in any decent way.

Optimization is something that is going to happen as long as we continue to live in this world. There is need for lots of things to work the way that we want it especially when we are talking about our site optimization. So, I don't see any need for someone to claim that there is no need for that again even when we know that people do research on a daily basis and may have need to visit your site.

Yes, it is! However, it is important to understand the ways in which technology and search engines are adjusting their algorithms to ensure that your site is not just indexed, but that the search results they are presenting to an end user are both relevant and helping to answer their questions. Gone are the days of simple keywords and basic content, so a well-rounded SEO and content strategy is a must. Because SEO is a practice that continues to grow, evolve, innovate. Most importantly, though, SEO continues to invade and influence other channels. I work with SEO and sure for 100% that none of my websites has been so successful without it. Of course there are some other factors like a reliable web hosting provider Zomro.net or the unique content but still SEO cant be overestimated.

Here is the answer to the question. Those guys have some secrets which they are yet to reveal. That reminds me of a site owner who was makings a lot of money through affiliate marketing, but his advise was totally different from what he was doing.

When it comes to algorithm of Google and other search engines, do not believe such claims because we all know that the algorithm of a search engine is a trade secret and it is foolish to let it known by the public. When someone has that claim that there is something about the algorithm then it is like saying the guy is lying and making you believe in his concoction.
