Optimizing your website for conversions is crucial if you have low traffic numbers

When it comes to making money online, it really depends on how much traffic you're getting because the more you get means the more likely you'll generate a sale.  But what about those websites that are in a niche that doesn't get much traffic but they can still make a great deal of money from a website?  If you're not optimizing your website for conversions, you're going to lose a lot of sales, and that could be a business killer if you're in a niche that already has low searches each month.

Having 1,000+ people to your website each day is nice, but some websites can't even hit that with penny clicks on AdWords because of how small their niche is.  This means you will need to optimize more than your content if you're trying to be the authority within these niches.  There are various things you can do to optimize your website for conversions, such as: Have competitive price points, Various contact options, Being responsive, and Knowing where your traffic is navigating around your website.

If you want to be the authority in a low traffic niche, try doing the few things below and you will likely see an increase in conversions Optimizing your website for conversions is crucial if you have low traffic numbers

Have competitive price points, but be on the lower end
If your competitors are selling a product or service for $150 and you sell for $135, you will see an increase in conversions because people want to save money, even if it's just $15 in savings they will likely go with you if you did everything else just right.

Having a cheaper product doesn't always mean you will capture the sale.  You will also need to prove you're a trustworthy option for the new customer to purchase from.  You will need to be responsive to any questions that are asked.  You will basically need to do everything else we will cover in this discussion Optimizing your website for conversions is crucial if you have low traffic numbers

Have various ways for a customer to contact you
Take a second and go to your top competitor's website and see how many options someone has to contact them.  They will likely have a contact form, a visible email that opens your emailing service if you set it up, a phone number, and probably a chat system to round it all out.

The more options you give someone when it comes to contacting you, the more likely you will get more sales each month.  Giving someone more options to contact you will open up your website for them to choose their preferred method.  You may like to talk with people over the phone, but the majority of your customers might like contacting you through your chat system, so be sure you have various options for them to choose from.  If you limit people to just filling out a contact form or just having them call you over the phone, you will lose a lot of sales, and this is because people don't see their preferred contact method and they will leave your website.

Be responsive, always give more info, and help as much as possible
Having a responsive website is great, but being responsive to your visitors is amazing, and you will need to be on top of your emails as well as any other option of contact you give your visitors.

If you're giving people various ways to contact you, like we mentioned above, you will need to streamline this as much as possible.  Get all the notifications sent to your cell phone if possible, this is what I do, and it lets me know if I need to respond right away or if I can let it sit for a few minutes.  I have a chat system that goes to my cell phone, I have grasshopper that routes an 800 number to my cell phone, and I have any direct emails and contact form submissions sent to a specific email that is forwarded to my personal email that also sends notifications to my phone Optimizing your website for conversions is crucial if you have low traffic numbers  I can literally walk away from my laptop or desktop for the weekend and still have top-notch support because I'll have my phone on me Optimizing your website for conversions is crucial if you have low traffic numbers  If you can do this, you will seal more deals, and you will be more successful.

Know your heat maps and tweak your pages if needed
Understanding how people navigate around your website is great, and using heatmaps to know exactly where the hotspots of your website are is even better, so be sure to use a 3rd party service to figure this out.  You can normally tell where the hotspots of your website are, which tend to be your menu bars or your side images, but you could get surprised on some of your pages.

If you see something odd in your heatmaps, this is likely due to you not knowing what pulls the attention of a visitor, and if you can configure your images and menus just right you can pull people to your product or service pages and make more money.  Knowing the hotspots of your pages will help you funnel people to the right places of your website where you sell something.

If you see the majority of your visitors clicking a certain section of your website, try adding a product image/link there and see if your sales increase Optimizing your website for conversions is crucial if you have low traffic numbers

In conclusion
Optimizing your website for conversions may sound like an easy thing to do, but you likely don't think of it when running ads or optimizing your content, and that is why a lot of businesses lose sales.  You could have a PPC campaign bringing in 1,000 people a day and only converting 1% of them, which isn't that great, but if you were to optimize for conversions you could see 5% conversions Optimizing your website for conversions is crucial if you have low traffic numbers  Go over your website, figure out what needs to be tweaked, and fix it for better conversions!

That tip about offering various ways for your site visitor to contact you is worth gold. When I visit a website I love it when I can use a direct eMail address and/or the site's Contact Messaging system but I can also visit the site's Facebook or Twitter account and message them there as well. Fact is, I don't have a lot of faith in the Contact systems at many sites. I like to be able to contact in an alternative manner just in case my message goes to spam. Some site owners have their spam filters set way too high!

I also love when sites have various ways to reach out. I particularly like online chat options, since I can easily just type to a representative when it's not always feasible to pick up the phone and call to chat with someone. Definitely agree with you about the spam filters too - it's part of why my preference is for chat options rather than email! Optimizing your website for conversions is crucial if you have low traffic numbers

The problem is that a majority of sites have nowadays incorporated chatbots into their systems. You will be handled in quite a different manner since the robots are only programmed to answer in a preset manner.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I've noticed that with some sites I've visited too. Thankfully quite a few still have human interaction on them, and you can absolutely notice the difference! It makes me sad when I know it's all automated and not really tailored to your own personal needs.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Oooh that is nice if they have retained human intervention I mean. It always feels great to deal with a human being since their interpretation and facts handling means is desirable.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Absolutely. So many people I know get frustrated when businesses don't have human interaction, and when every method of contact involves talking to an automated chat bot or automated phone systems. I think so often in the quest to cut costs, businesses forget about the warmth that human interaction gives!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

And you know the annoying part is that you can actuallySee when you are bwing handled by a bot. It is always hunuliating.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Yes, some sites don't even try to disguise that fact - and for me, if I see their chat is handled by a chat bot instead of a human I often close out of it right away and try and find a different company to deal with.

Whether you are just a blog, a company website, or an ecommerce store, you need to have an easy contact system. Your contact details should be clearly visible. It is better to use services like Telegram or Whatsapp.
If you are using email as the contact system. you should send replies promptly.
By enabling quick contact feature, you will be attracting a lot of customers.

I have not yet moved that far ahead. I know that Telegram and Whatsapp are being used. But I have not jumped on the bandwagon. I was about to join a site and it said something about providing my Telegram address or something and I'm like "Oh well! I'm outta here!" I hope other sites don't follow that pattern and make it mandatory to provide Whatsapp or Telegram contact info.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vinaya
I have accounts on telegram as well as whatsapp, however, I am not using these services as contact medium on my websites. On my websites, I use email as contact address and I always reply promptly when ever I receive emails.
I use telegram mostly for crypto currency projects.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Ah yes! I have noticed that some of the cryptocurrency sites are asking for your Telegram address.

I never thought to use whatsapp for business communications before, but it makes sense since the app has such a wide user base. I think ultimately it comes down to making contact options easier for the clients, and by offering a wide range of ways they can reach you you're already doing a fantastic job!

Having the link of your Facebook account on your website is a good support because most, if not all, of the visitors have a Facebook account. When they send you a friend request be sure to accept it because if you do not react then that might be taken as an offense to the potential client. I have visited some sites but I don’t leave my Facebook address because mine is for personal use only.

Offering a cheaper price has always been a tested and proven way to lure customers. You just have to make sure that the quality is not lesser for the little savings that they get. Also, providing contacts can definitely attract more sales as people need reassurance when they purchase. You have to be able to respond to their queries and concerns.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This strategy will not fail you. It is really effective since a lot of customers like cheaper products but have also a good quality. Product that has a cheaper price can really attract more customer.

I disagree. Maybe in other countries people still have money to purchase a higher quality item but for Third World Countries for example, cheap is all they are searching for. It doesn't matter if it's good or going to break in a week. As long as it works and functions, its good. A major retailer here in the Philippines resales and rebrands no brand Chinese products and have done wonderfully in business as I see branches everywhere.

This will never go out of style. People will always go with something that would benefit them and would make them feel that they have an advantage.

Love what you said about having various ways for customers to contact you. I feel like different people have different preferences when it comes to contact - some prefer online chat options, others would prefer to call over the phone, and others again prefer face to face dealings. Providing convenient options for your customer base is a huge way of gaining clients - but you've got to ensure that you're responding well and in a timely fashion, too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
Yes I agree. I prefer to send my concerns through online means like chat or e-mail. It really shows that the company is thinking about the convenience of the customer first in this sense. What really grinds my gears are those who take an eternity to reply and couldn't hold a conversation with me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Yes, that is really frustrating for me too. I think to myself if they're willing to offer a variety of ways to be reached, they need to ensure that any received correspondence is replied to in a prompt manner. Otherwise it leaves you asking "what was the point of them even offering the service?" if they're slow to reply.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
I get that they have hundreds of concerns to go through each day but can't you just hire more customer support to manage the many concerns of their growing customers? It sucks that they don't think of the customer service after they have already purchased their products. I guess that's also one thing more to consider when buying from a company.

P.S. The company I'm referring to is Globe Telecom.

I think having higher traffic takes a lot of experiment. You can see that often people drive through bad spaces. Like say the places from where the traffic don't convert. And that needs to be changed. And the website needs to be promoted through many places where it can be good for proper traffic conversion. I have learned from experience that some sites take time for better traffic.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is really hard to predict what kind of contents/products/service actually pulls traffic. I have a parenting blog, I am using crypto currency ads on this blog. The ads and the contents are not related, yet I get good engagements on my ads. I did not expect to get engagements on my ads, I was just experimenting, however, I am receiving engagements on the ads. You should always experiment with ads and see what is actually working for me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have seen that some of the time products or service do pull some traffic but the thing is it's not going to be consistent. I have noticed that the rate is also reduced over a period of time. I think crypto ads if relevant to your blog niche can earn you good. But other than that i think it is a bit harder to work with off topic ads.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vinaya
This depends on the kind of traffic you are pulling. But then visitors also have varied interest and they might click any ads they want of the ads interest them. Someone reading a gaming blog might also look into the ads related to travel because he might be thinking about going on a vacation. Related ads convert better, however, unrelated ads might also convert well

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The thing is let's say you have some clothing shop. People are less likely to click on cryptoads on that. Because we don't go to clothing shop to buy bitcoins. That intent understanding is something we have to focus as well. Lot of people don't get that idea and end up making that mistakes.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vinaya
Ads on online stores and other websites perform in different ways. Like you said, people are not going to click crypto ads when they are looking for a T shirt on a shopping site. However, if they visit a life style blog and see an ad about crypto currency they might click the ad based on their interest. I am saying this from my experience.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
Yes that is definitely possible. Also blogs where coupons are given or some articles on personal finance. Those sites can definitely have crypto ads. And they can even see some level of conversion. I just think that interest of people is usually based on the focus they have online. That's what makes them money.

Search engine traffic is very important because the people who visit your website through search engine check your website because they are genuinely interested in your website. When you get search engine traffic, the conversion rate is higher. However, getting high rank is not always possible especially when there is a high competition. Here lies the importance of search engine marketing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
I think search engine traffic is also responsive as in they can be buyers. Often we get traffic from social media who are not buyers but more or less those who look for the content. And they may not end up as buyers. So we have to be understanding on that part. Lot of context are there where search engine traffic too doesn't help much and people use PPC through facebook.

I've been playing with Google Optimize for more than 6 months now and I have to say it is probably the best free tool out there you can test and improve your conversions rates with. It takes some time to figure everything out, especially if you don't have a programming background but with time and enough practices and some lessons in HTML, CSS, and javascript I bet anyone can reach a point where they can make decent optimizations and tests without the help of the development team.

So instead of bugging the developers all the time with simple tasks like: "make this button green"; "let's try this CTA text" or "let's move this picture lower" - I now do all this myself and every web marketing person should do this. I test everything over long periods of time, sometimes 2 weeks is enough but for some pages, it takes a couple of months before I have a definitive answer. I usually implement multiple versions with different changes to figure out which of these changes brings me the best conversion rates.

I even managed to improve conversion rates on pages that already converted like crazy. For example, I tested about 10 different CTA texts until I found one that improved conversion rates by 3% on a page that already had a good click to rate, about 30% on a CTA button.
So yeah, testing and improving conversion rates is indeed crucial and one of the ways you can do it for free is with Google Optimize.

I appreciate a site that is very accomodating and responsive. I wish more site would bump into your article and realize how vitals these points are. I mean not just for SEO purposes but also as a site itself who care for its visitors. I believe that one factor that can also increase your traffic is the deep connection that visitors are able to feel whenever they are in a particular site. I would apply this in my site.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Chinet23
I think so too that some sites can fall into the trap of only aiming for SEO purposes only and not truly connecting with visitors. I do agree that you cannot overlook this part as this will also increase traffic if the site is really aimed at helping its visitors. I think it will also show if your site is void of real human connection and merely geared towards business gain. I don't think that it will stay long if this is the case.

Very important tips indeed. I think we all need to develop and become successful.

About being cheap!

There is a clique of people who think being cheap is offering substandard services. One may repel the would be customers rather than attracting them.

If you were to be cheap!

. Ensure to give first class service.

. Your production should be quality work.

. Be prompt on delivery.

. Know your competitors and build on their weaknesses.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
The advantage of being cheap is once you are offering a quality service of product, it is always going to be on a favorable side for you. The reason is that those that comes to patronize you will see the need to recommend you as one of the best in the industry that you are into.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
That can definitely be a bit of a concern, when people think that just because you're offering a discounted service that your quality isn't the same as someone charging full price. I think as long as you deliver the product in a quality manner, and deal professionally with your clients at all times, their faith will grow, word of mouth will spread, and ultimately more clients will want to deal with you!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Working in a way that visitors to your website have that mindset that you can be able to reach out to them when they are in need of talking to you is one of the way that you can optimize your site. While starting, this may look as a little effort, but with time, it is a great way to make things work.

Its best that more apps, email, text messages or social media help us more convenient to communicate people in no time so we can reply right away with our customer and interested clients. I guess there is no way or any reason now to anyone not to response even they say they 're so busy of something, if you want something to be done, you will find a way and there is always a way.

With a low number of viewers you really need to work extra hard. You need to engaged to your viewers to keep them a regular viewer. Being responsive to your viewers can also help you to increase your visitors because it shows that you are really attentive to your customers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Exactly! With the limited number of visitors that you have on your site already, it's very important to try as much as possible to keep them than to end up losing them as a result of not having time to respond to their needs and questions as quickly as possible. People like to be treated in such a way that they will feel valued, it's the only way to have their loyalty.

If your website generates massive traffic, you can reap the benefit of your huge traffic because even if only have 25 percent conversion, you will be earning well. However, if you have a small traffic, you need higher conversion to generate substantial revenue. In order to maintain a higher conversion, you need to offer high quality contents, products and services.

I agree with the point that you need to have all sorts of communications for the customer to contact you. I really hate it when big companies have crappy customer service. Like they couldn't afford to hire a decent workforce to handle customer complaints and issues. It just makes me want to transact with them less.

More than just a good action, that is a necessary. The only way you can know if you're doing a good job, if your merchandise is satisfying the client, if your customer will return for more, and if they will refer more clients to your site, is by communicating with them. I have drop hundreds of deals, just because of a crappy customer service. If a company doesn't care about my attention, then it doesn't deserve my money and mi time. Period.

A good responsive support system is a great way to go about getting your business to have a good conversation with your customers. Nobody likes to be kept waiting for long when trying to reach out to support with an issue or a problem that needs to be sorted out as soon as possible. Personally, it makes me lose interest in dealing with such site.

Offering lower prices will not make your business fall apart, instead it could help you gain more customers. I have a lot of businesses that offers lower prices but still make an impact with the market. It is a great strategy to gain traffic that will definitely make your business grow. Also, people prefer to have transactions with business that has reliable way of communication. I, personally, consider the support hotline before having a transaction for me to feel the comfort that I needed.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think low prices are a great incentive to draw customers in. Sure, you may need to offer some introductory prices that are lower than what you'd normally charge, but it's a way to get new clients through the door and show them what you can do. Often that's enough for them to already be loyal to your company if you're offering a great product or service.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree. People will most likely choose the cheaper but quality on. People starting up a business doesn't have to be rush on hitting their target sales. Instead, they should think of a tactic to draw some customers to patronize their product and everything else will follow. One example is selling quality products with lower prices, that's a good way to start.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Competitive prices on the lower end, never fails. Even I can include myself in this group. Of course, sometimes I feel reluctant and I say, why is the same product cheaper here? is this some kind of scamming? but fortunately, there are still people that know how to do business, and maybe they are earning less than the competition, but they're selling more, and that is one of the best methods to increase your numbers.

I really agree in the line that says " be responsive, always give more information, and help as much as possible" because customers need a certain company or website who have the patience to answer all their queries regarding a certain product or services that is being offered to them. It is also a good point to your competitors since you will have an edge over them. It will just need a lot of patience and knowledge in answering all the questions by the customers.

Giving more info to your clients and prospective clients is a good advice. Yesterday I inquired about a product that I saw in Facebook. It is a hair grower oil. The reply was kind of late but it seemed complete with the price list. When I asked again about the payment, the reply was again complete with the list of payment methods. I find that kind of reply friendly and accommodating. Today I will order the product.

I agree more that customers are always important to every business. True always respond on them if they have query, questions, concerned, confused of, no matter the query is, whether you know it or don't know it yet, its better to be honest with them and tell that you are more than glad to research it, just provide specific time or days that it will take so costumer knows their standing too. Its better to respond that to ignore them.

Tips I'll have to keep in mind because initially most of the traffic I'll get on my new site will be PPC traffic. Problem is . . .

To come across as trustworthy is something I have to work right now since I don't have any testimonials or reviews that would give someone the impression that I can be trusted to deliver what I promise. A few free samples of stuff I'll be selling could get me a few reviews I suppose.
