Everyone here is likely trying to increase their rankings by building backlinks, but not everyone understands what pinging your backlinks can do, and that's why I'm going to be talking about websites like PingFarm and what they do to help your website.

You can't just build a billion backlinks and think they're all going to get indexed, because they won't, and what's worse is that most of those links won't even be found unless you use a website like PingFarm.com to bring the search engine spiders in to see what is new on the page. It's sad when you do a bunch of work in order to build the best backlinks you can, then they never get found, and you think your time was wasted. You can fix that by simply adding your URLs into PingFarm and running them through the system to essentially yell at the search engines and let them know dinner is ready lol Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

Not all backlinks will be indexed
I've had hundreds of clients complain to me about their backlinks not showing up in checkers after I finished the work. They even went as far as filing complaints against me through PayPal and getting their money back since PayPal doesn't really protect you if you sell a digital service.

Not all of your backlinks will show up in these free backlink checkers, they won't even show up all the time in the paid ones, because those checkers will only show the backlinks that have been indexed. You can use PingFarm to help increase your indexing rate, but if your backlinks are low-quality garbage built with outdated software, you're not going to get indexed regardless.

Focus on high-quality backlinks, ping them, watch them get indexed quicker than usual.

Your backlinks will likely have been seen
Even if your backlinks aren't getting indexed, at least they're getting seen by the search engines after you ping them. The search engine spiders will come to the link, browse around the page that was pinged, and see all the links that are there. Your links will have been seen, but that doesn't mean they will have been indexed, because it all boils down to what is on the page and does it provide value to anyone searching on the engines you're trying to rank on.

If you're building 1,000,000 profile backlinks and using your main keyword "Dog Training" you probably won't see any of those links get indexed. This is because someone who is looking for a dog training class or manual doesn't want to land on your profile with a backlink to another website, and that's why your backlink hasn't been indexed in the SERPs.

Building 1,000,000 new backlinks aimed at your homepage isn't good
I actually sold a big backlink package in the past and had a warning on the page saying something along the lines of "This package will hurt your website if we build these links to just one of your pages. This package is best to be spread across thousands of 2nd and 3rd tier backlinks to help boost your rankings!!!" but I would still get people buying it for their homepages and giving me 1 keyword, then complaining later when the work actually hurt their rankings. I would always email them and voice my concerns, but they still wanted the work to be done and I'm not here to argue lol Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

You're essentially just ringing the search engines dinner bell
When you put a list of URLs into PingFarm, a mass ping site, you're essentially ringing a dinner bell for all the search engine spiders when the process is finished. They will come to the URLs that you've pinged, see what you have for dinner, then bring some back to the search engines so they can eat as well lol Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

Ok, they're not actually eating your backlinks, but hopefully, you get the image I'm trying to convey through text. You're telling them you have new pages for them to check out and they will gladly come to do it since they're bots and programmed to do so, and you will rank higher depending on what type of quality links you've built Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

In conclusion
Using a mass ping site like PingFarm isn't something new to the SEO world. Pinging your backlinks have been around since blogs were introduced, and some blogs even do this automatically, which is why mass ping sites were invented Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

These websites help you get your backlinks seen, but not always indexed, and this will help you get a boost in the SERPs if it's done right Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

Thanks Tommy for sharing such a great information on backlinks and how to effectively use them. Some people who are new to being a webmaster don't really know how to best generate backlinks and use them. Some think that having so many backlinks will do them good but the truth is that when one goes for quantity in backlinks instead of quality, even if they use 1 million backlinks, the one that used few quality backlinks will get a better impact in for his or her website.

That's true, there isn't a guide out there that is given to new webmasters to tell them what to focus on in the beginning. This guide would probably start off with their web design and quickly be followed with SEO, and in there it would tell them to not build 1,000,000 low-quality backlinks lol Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

I use to build millions of links in the past when it actually worked, but even then I would never build them directly to my own pages. I would build them to my tier 1 links that I could easily delete if the links were passing some bad juice, but not many people think like that Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

A lot of new webmasters think "more backlinks are better for rankings" but that simply isn't true, as you already know, because those massive amounts of backlinks are likely low-quality links that won't do much in terms of good rankings. In fact, they will probably have to start a new website after they build all these low-quality links because they don't know how to use the disavow tool lol Understanding the use of a mass ping site like PingFarm.com

Haha, the beginnings are always tough to every and any webmaster, there is no way of knowing exactly what you should do to get the best out of your business. At first, all you would keep doing is trial and error till you start getting things right. So, the mistake of getting in bed with 100,000 low quality backlinks is something that we are all guilty of.

ooooh. I think that it is then great to give one-self time and invest in real progress that comes naturally after making a heavy sort of investment in developing the website. You will then appreciate the organic results.

I have read in several discussions that backlinks are preferred to be quality instead of quantity. And I agree with that statement because it is not easy to post your backlink in other sites because it takes a creative disposition otherwise you may get banned or sanctioned. However the quality backlink is sometimes confusing that if you have the momentum of posting then you just post continuously.

I liked the analogy of ringing the search engine's dinner bell - it made a lot more sense to me when you explained it that way. A lot of these things are still areas I have to work on for my website, so it's helpful learning what to do and what not to do.

I think in past pingfamrs used to have a good impact. They used to have a lot of sites with articles pinging one another. And that used to work out for many pages and sites. But the value of the links is reducing these days. I'd only expect the value of those links going down. because ping farms don't value much in terms of the Google. So we learn from the experience that pingfarm type sites work better in that context.

I must admit that I am pretty new to the world of blogging and as such I have not advanced to such levels. I am however looking forward to using the advice and doing some more research on pinging.

Myself I'm new to this whole scene as well, however, I do posses some intimate knowledge regarding to all this. As the guy above suggested, pingfarm used to have a huge impact on many things, and their reputation for it was tremendous. Nowadays, their popularity is slightly fading.

Backlinks to me are effective if done properly and not posting on non relative sites. In reality if a person sees a link on a site and clicks it, if he's not interested or if the site opens up too slow or the name of the site is not appealing to the person, the site would be rejected in a couple of seconds. In reality noone really likes to see a link of a selling site.

Getting to use high quality backlinks is very important in any online website business because they are more likely to be adding a positive impact on your business than when you are using lots of low quality backlinks. When you desire to get the best out of your business especially online websites business, avail yourself to using high end quality backlinks.

I remember being introduced to the concept of “pinging” and I thought: “Oh! OK!! I'll just keep pinging and the search engine will always find my stuff.” LOL. That's not quite how it works. I use the Google Feedburner tool. It's a neat FREE tool; part of the Google Webmaster tools suite. You can burn an RSS feed. This tool has a feature called Ping Shot. Activate it when you create your feed and it's automatic. I don't use any other pinging service. This works without me working it!

Sorry, your customers are so ignorant that they file complaints against you. That's always a bummer!

I am new to this whole affiliate marketing thing and I must admit that I don't really understand the back linking thing. People just say that it is important. There is a school of thought that says that it doesn't really work. I just get someone to do my back links because all the controversy can be a bit confusing. I will try to also use a ping site and see how this works. Thanks for the great tip once again.

This is the first time that I’ve heard of Ping Farm. To be honest, I am still confused when it comes to quality backlinks. Of course, I know what a backlink is and its purpose but whenever I would come across a discussion about quality backlinks, my mind seems to shut down. It seems to me that employing backlinks is not as simple as posting your link on another website. It has tricks and rudiments that you can use to make it effective.

It really is frustrating when customers complain over something that you've already explained to them a lot of times, even threatening to spread negative word about you. But it's part of the job and other people generally see through that especially in these services.

I have a question.

Mass pinging sites notify search engines that new content has been published on your blog. What about these other ping sites like Pingoat?

Pingoat is a service that pings or notifies a number of services that keep track of weblogs and publish them. By pinging, you let the services know that your blog has been updated and hence, they crawl and index your site, publishing your blog contents, thus increasing your blog's popularity.

Is there any difference between Pingoat and other mass Pinging sites like Pingfarm?

I've heard of Pingfarm before but I don't know what it is. I don't really get this pinging your backlinks. But it's good that you put this information so that I can have a new idea for backlinks. It's always good to learn new knowledge everyday.
