5 things you need to understand in order to have a successful website

Everyone wants to have a successful website, but most of the people chasing riches don't do what they need to, and that's their own downfall that they claim was unwarranted.  If you know just 5 little things about your website, niche, industry, and know when to invest in your company and when to hold back you will likely be successful in a short amount of time.  It could actually take you an entire year, but you'll be able to see your profits gradually increase from month to month until they're at a point where you can quit your day job and go online full time

Working online full time is a goal a lot of you reading this have, and there are some of us out here who have achieved this, but it's because we knew the following 5 things:


Know your top 5 keywords
You could go on Adwords and get keyword suggestions, but they won't give you your top 5 keywords, you'll just get a few hundred in a list and then it's up to you to decide what is best to target. 

You need to think of what your shortest keywords are because those will likely be your top ones to target over time in order to get the most traffic possible.  One downfall of new website owners is they think they only have 1 main keyword.  They target just that keyword and don't spread their work across 5 or even 50 keywords.  You need to know your top 5 in order to know what the main keywords are that will make you rich, then you need to target your secondary keywords first and your primary ones over time in order to get sales quicker and boost your business as much as possible while you wait for your main keywords to rank and bank

Know your competitors
Many people go online and start up a website because they love what they're working with, but that's not how you become successful online.  You need to know who your competitors are and what they're doing online in order to defeat them in a marketing battle.

Knowing your enemy (competitors) is how you will win the war, so get to studying if you don't already know who they are and what they're doing.

Know your niche
If you're getting into a niche solely because you want to make a lot of money in it, you likely don't know enough about it, which means you should get to work and begin researching.

If you started in a specific niche because you have a lot of knowledge about it, you're better off than most people who are just starting off, which is a great thing   You're going to be able to get content created quickly, optimize for your keywords because you likely know what the best ones are already, and your time frames will be cut in half since you've been researching this niche for years already

Have short term and long term goals
Having short-term goals is one of the keys to success because they are little milestones towards your long-term goals which are more difficult to achieve.  Knowing the difference between your short-term goals and long-term goals is important.  You need to know that setting up a website and generating sales is a short-term goal, but getting that website to $35,000+ in profits per month is a long-term goal. 

Just making some money online should be a short-term goal, because no one wants to wait around to profit, so bring in those sales quickly and set profit goals to hit each month or year and you will likely be able to achieve them if you just stay dedicated

Know when to invest
You'd be surprised how many people spend every penny that comes in because they were told to bootstrap their profits, but in the end, they fail because they invested too much.  You need to know when to put money into your business and when to hold back and wait because you don't always have to buy something right then and there.

You don't always need that software right now.  You don't always need to put in $3,000 to your PPC campaign today.  You don't always have to bring on employees today.  You do however need to know when to spend money and when to not in order to stay successful online


In conclusion
If you can follow the top 5 things I talked about, you will likely have a well-oiled machine that brings in profits from month to month.  You may not be a millionaire, but you should be able to bring in enough money to work for yourself from home until you have enough to get your own office space
