5 things you need to understand in order to have a successful website

Everyone wants to have a successful website, but most of the people chasing riches don't do what they need to, and that's their own downfall that they claim was unwarranted.  If you know just 5 little things about your website, niche, industry, and know when to invest in your company and when to hold back you will likely be successful in a short amount of time.  It could actually take you an entire year, but you'll be able to see your profits gradually increase from month to month until they're at a point where you can quit your day job and go online full time 5 things you need to understand in order to have a successful website

Working online full time is a goal a lot of you reading this have, and there are some of us out here who have achieved this, but it's because we knew the following 5 things:

Know your top 5 keywords
You could go on Adwords and get keyword suggestions, but they won't give you your top 5 keywords, you'll just get a few hundred in a list and then it's up to you to decide what is best to target.

You need to think of what your shortest keywords are because those will likely be your top ones to target over time in order to get the most traffic possible.  One downfall of new website owners is they think they only have 1 main keyword.  They target just that keyword and don't spread their work across 5 or even 50 keywords.  You need to know your top 5 in order to know what the main keywords are that will make you rich, then you need to target your secondary keywords first and your primary ones over time in order to get sales quicker and boost your business as much as possible while you wait for your main keywords to rank and bank 5 things you need to understand in order to have a successful website

Know your competitors
Many people go online and start up a website because they love what they're working with, but that's not how you become successful online.  You need to know who your competitors are and what they're doing online in order to defeat them in a marketing battle.

Knowing your enemy (competitors) is how you will win the war, so get to studying if you don't already know who they are and what they're doing.

Know your niche
If you're getting into a niche solely because you want to make a lot of money in it, you likely don't know enough about it, which means you should get to work and begin researching.

If you started in a specific niche because you have a lot of knowledge about it, you're better off than most people who are just starting off, which is a great thing 5 things you need to understand in order to have a successful website  You're going to be able to get content created quickly, optimize for your keywords because you likely know what the best ones are already, and your time frames will be cut in half since you've been researching this niche for years already 5 things you need to understand in order to have a successful website

Have short term and long term goals
Having short-term goals is one of the keys to success because they are little milestones towards your long-term goals which are more difficult to achieve.  Knowing the difference between your short-term goals and long-term goals is important.  You need to know that setting up a website and generating sales is a short-term goal, but getting that website to $35,000+ in profits per month is a long-term goal.

Just making some money online should be a short-term goal, because no one wants to wait around to profit, so bring in those sales quickly and set profit goals to hit each month or year and you will likely be able to achieve them if you just stay dedicated 5 things you need to understand in order to have a successful website

Know when to invest
You'd be surprised how many people spend every penny that comes in because they were told to bootstrap their profits, but in the end, they fail because they invested too much.  You need to know when to put money into your business and when to hold back and wait because you don't always have to buy something right then and there.

You don't always need that software right now.  You don't always need to put in $3,000 to your PPC campaign today.  You don't always have to bring on employees today.  You do however need to know when to spend money and when to not in order to stay successful online 5 things you need to understand in order to have a successful website

In conclusion
If you can follow the top 5 things I talked about, you will likely have a well-oiled machine that brings in profits from month to month.  You may not be a millionaire, but you should be able to bring in enough money to work for yourself from home until you have enough to get your own office space 5 things you need to understand in order to have a successful website

Thanks for the nice article. About keyword research we can choice Google keyword planner. This is available with Google ad words service. At first within Google KWP we can set up the main keyword and can identity the high volume based keywords and can make a list. Later we can search by the keywords and can list the website. We can identify the keywords from those competitor website by several SEO tools. Again after collecting all of the keywords we can enlist those on a notepad and we can start making article, post or meta keywords section (Now have develop section like now for word press is Yoast plug in).

Thanks

Google is more interested in keywords. When you require your business website to get picked out by Google as fast as possible, then focus on getting the right keywords for your website and you will see it rank higher in Google search engine optimization. Also knowing when to invest and not to invest in business is very important because you are going to be spot on in getting the best deal for your business.

The procedure you had mentioned blew my mind. It is not easy to check Google for the keywords and making a list will consume much of my time much more if I would be evaluating the right keyword. And to check on my competitor, it is like being a sleuth. Can I just think of a set of keywords that I can use for my content? That would be simple and even if it is not much effective but I guess it also has a good effect on the ranking of my site and also traffic.

With regard to setting long-term and short-term goals, do you have something like a generic checklist that anybody can follow?

I agree with you. Keywords are the most important. I think they determine whether your website is successful or not. Keywords determine if your website will get an audience. It will determine how many visitors you get, it will also determine what kind of visitors you will get. I think this is the key between success and failure. This will determine whether you will make money or not, and how much money you will make.

This is absolutely true about how good keywords are when you are running a website, it gets you the desired ranking you need from Google which impacts directly on your business success.

I can still remember vividly when I was still new to forum posting and the forum owner told me about how important it is to make use of keywords in my review contents. I did employed it my writing and most of my reviews ranked between 1,2, and 3 on Google.

I think what's the end game or the end of conversion part is what needs to be understood. I have found out that some of the time successful website means the one where we have some sort of conversion. And that's not easy to achieve. I have learned that if you want selling website. You have to try harder. And that should be your priority in that case. That's what leads to conversion working out.

I think it is very important to have goals and you should categorize your goals as short-term goals, long-term goals, small goals and big goals. Let say you are trying to build 10k monthly traffic. It might be difficult for you, however, if you try to break this goal into smaller goals like getting 200 visitors every day, or getting 2k visitors every week might help you reach your bigger goal. Likewise, if you classify your goals as short term and long term, you might get a clear picture on what you should focus first and what you should focus later on.

I agree on the last point about investing smartly. I have witnessed a lot of people and ccompanies that put in lots of money at each time without reading the market and audience keenly. Great pointers too on the rest of the article.

Ensuring that we invest in the right ways is a good move when we are thinking of making everything work out. As starters, you may not have the money to throw around, so investing in the right way is a nice move to take.

I agree. For beginners like me, I cannot afford uncalculated risks. We really need to know if there are other options and how we can work around it before we spend too much money. There should be a high probability at least really know what I'm diving into before I spend or invest.

Understanding who your competitors are is one of the ways that you can run a successful website. It is by knowing them and even copying what they do is one of the best ways that we can boost our sites. The thing is that the better our sites ranks on Google, the better for us.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's very good to know that when you are copying from your online business competition or competitors, it's very important to try and make your own work look and appear unique even when you have copied from another person. Copying and using what you have copied without changing it wouldn't be so much good for your own business and when copying, let it be something that is related to your business niche.

That's right. By knowing your competitors you will gt a lot of ideas how to improve your site, just be close to them and always track about their new things, sometimes we need to copy their ideas also, but we should do a little more better.

Goals are always important, no matter what kind of work you're doing. I find that if I don't map things out then I'm essentially cruising along aimlessly. Setting goals help me make sure that I'm heading in the right direction, and that's of the utmost importance.

How much time would you say should an individual like me who has a full time job invest into growing my own SEO? Working full time online is something I also want to do in the near future as the 9-5 lifestyle doesn't suit me at all. However I wouldn't want to compromise my job learning the trade. I still need to put food on the table.

Have you considered laying down some plans like how to transition yourself slowly by slowly from a formal employment into online learning. Like setting aside some time from your job to work on the SEO. Great things take time but without the small steps you will rarely be able to transition.

I have the same concern as you do. In as much as I want to work from home and leave my regular job, I just can't do it in a haste. There's too much to consider and learn in the process. I believe that we're on the right track by gaining all the information that we could through contents and forums like this.

The one thing that got me reading on this article is my prospect of going online full time and that's when I reached the point I can leave my regular job. Working from home really looks very appealing for me and I think mostly for those who have kids. These 5 pointers you laid out I think are the most important. Most people including me used to think just have to start with your passion, writing or doing what you love, and it should work out from there. I almost forgot that it's still a competition you really have to equipped with the right knowledge and skills to make the most out of this endeavor. I definitely learned a great deal from this. Thanks for sharing.

I guess you have to focus on the niche of your website. Like when I was co-blogging, the niche was pets that my focus was on my own dogs. I don’t remember having a rejected blog that I submitted maybe because my articles were always inside the parameters of the blog’s niche. If I would submit an article that is about our car then I guess that article is bound for rejection.

I agree that these five things you mentioned in your article are definitely part of the recipe for success. In business, it is always best to know your competitors. Before going to war, know your enemy. This is one way of ensuring your success. Investments are part of strategy, it is wise to know when to invest and when not to do it.

As a beginner in this industry I'm looking for tips on how to be successful in website making. This is a must read for beginners. You've enlightened me. I need this tips to be successful. It's not only hard work, it also takes strategy to win in this field.

It is great to have long and short term goals so that you can have a direction you want to achieve on. Also having goals can make you more inspired to do things that could help you build up your career. What you said about knowing your competitors are true, it is a way for you to know your market and strive more to develop your website. It may take time to develop it but when you put determination on it, time will come and you will be just sitting on your chair and earn money, it will be all worth it in the end.

This is a helpful article Tommy. Knowing your competitor is really a key factor because you will know their weaknesses. You can take advantage of the weakness of your competitor. Offer content that your competitor are missing or lacking. Also, know when to invest for me its all about planning. You need to think really hard before you make an investment. Look at the pros and cons of the investment. And, goals will help you to keep moving forward.

I liked the article, and it helps me learn more. I was just wondering when you said: "Know your Top 5 keywords." Why only 5? Is spreading it to like let's say 12 would be wrong?

Nice article. It gives essential information to us which we can use in the future. But creating a personal website isn't my top priority at the moment, I will only consider creating my own website if I'm already running a business and also if it needs to have a website as well. But I appreciate the content of your article and I would really agree with you. I like the part on 'Know Your Competitors'. It is really very important to be considered because you will be aware of the things that you need to prevent or to boost and improve in order to run your website completely successful. Then, you will have a chance to compete with others.
