I think posting on facebooks helps in Google ranking. While facebook posts do not directly improve ranking, it has a positive influence on Google ranking. There are two benefits in posting on facebook, one you get traffic and social media traffic is second major traffic source after search engines, second you get social signals. Social signals are likes and resharing. These social signals put a value on the post, thus helping the website to rank higher.

I think only having a social media page counts towards your google ranking, but the amount of posts you make in social media and the amount of likes you receive does not matter at all, at least based on what I've read.

I think I will have to disagree on your view about number of posts on social media and number of likes generated on social media. Actually, what I believe is number of posts you share on social media and the number of likes you receive are counted as social signals. Social signals are one of the off page SEO strategy.

backlinking is one of the primary factors in search engine ranking. Social bookmarking sites help you generate backlinks, whereas social networking sites help you generate social signals. Social signals are also important in improving ranks. Having more social signals means the likelihood of improved ranks. having backlinks does not guarantee you the top ranks, it just increases the chances of getting ranked higher, same is with social signals. Facebook sharing and likes do not guarantee you high rank, but it increase the chances of higher position on SERP.

What is key is ensuring that you have the site address link on the posts you've made on facebook as long as you want to rank higher. The truth is that those of your friends on facebook will need to visit the site from the site link to give the site some higher ranks on their articles.

They've naturally began to lose their demand simply by people inevitably growing tired of social media and turning away from it. Facebook has already begun to lose users as of 2017, and this recent debacle with Cambridge Analytica could actually further fuel the downward spiral that can potentially ruin Facebook, or at least leave it permanently scarred.

In fact, I just googled the word "debacle" in order to spell check myself, and besides the definition, the first three results were the Top Stories Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica Debacle: Why This Data-Privacy Storm Is Different, And What’s Next, followed by Don't Let a Data Debacle Like Facebook's Happen at Your Company, and Mark Zuckerberg finally says ‘sorry’ for Facebook data debacle.

Ever since other social media apps and sites began to evolve, facebook began to lose its users. These days the most active age group on facebook are the people between the age of 45 and 55 years. If older people are on facebook, where are all those young people? Well young people are concentrated on Instagram, Whatsapp, snapchat and the likes.
Howevrr, facebook still has a great power. It not only has highest number of users but also gets highest traffic after Google and Youtube.

Alot of people I know are turned off to FB and I am too. It is always the same people positng the same kind of content over and over. I would give it up entirely, but I don't want to miss something that might be important.

This is a really good question, and I'm actually not entirely sure if I'm being honest. It's actually a confusing topic that hasn't really gotten any clear answer from Google, as far as I'm aware. All of the "answers" seem to be very murky and often preceded by phrases like "As far as I know."

At one point, Google representatives suggested that social media activity actually did have a direct affect on SEO ranking and authority. However, recently the answer seems to have changed. The short answer seems to be: no. The long answer? While social media accounts will turn up on the results page, Google doesn't factor in the number of followers, likes, engagement rate, or backlinks into the ranking.

Well, I would just say that this short term and long term answer by Google representatives are just a smoke screen response to the honest truth that Facebook now have a less if not zero impact or effects on SEO rankings.

Like you, I am also confused with issues about Google regarding SEO and the rankings. There are many discussions that I find interesting not because of the issue but because of the propensity of people to post something about Google with no basis at all. If you have read the discussion about SEO is dead then you probably know what I mean. We really have to be discerning about what we are reading in forums because not everything is true.

It’s not just about Google and SEO, but basically any topic under the sun. The internet is a place where you absolutely need to double and even triple check every “fact” that you read. A lot of people are inclined to speculate and spread rumors simply so they seem like they have something to say, meanwhile they’re either directly or indirectly spreading misinformation and confusing those of us that just want to get our facts straight.

But, that’s just how it goes on a platform where everyone has a voice.

Well, from my understanding of how SEO and Google ranking worked years back, Facebook had pretty a good and direct impact on one's Google ranking but everything seems to have changed lately with how Google rankings is achieved now. It may still have impact on getting ranking in Google but it's now reduced to the barest minimum.

Right, but still you need to wait for some interested visitors to visit your site, to get more traffic and improve your google ranking. technically even how many post you made on your Facebook, it will not help you to improve your ranking, That's why most of the website owners doing some click bait, or they posted some intrigue topic which is not related to the content of the website.

I doubt it. I mean you are simply posting or responding to contact that is already on there so I don't think it is really going to impact on your rankings. It is just something that you need to be aware of though. I think it probably is a neutral impact.

I think Facebook really post a factor in Google rankings because it is one of the most commonly used site or platform by most of people around the world. Due to its simplicity and reliability many people are being used to it every single day. Even me my self is an avid fan of the Facebook site because it let me interacts with my family, relatives and friends out there anytime and anywhere which is really pretty cool.

In one discussion that I came across, a user named @Vinaya said that posts in Facebook about your website is called social signals which can be equated to bookmarks. I don’t really know the details of how it works but my guess is that posts in social media are also considered by search engines in relation to the SEO of the website. But even if not, those social signals mean the backlink of your website that when someone clicks, you get traffic which is the ultimate goal of website owners.
