4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

We all started off somewhere, and most of us were on a shoestring budget, so doing online marketing on a budget is likely what you had to do.  You had to manage all of your money going in and out so you didn't overextend yourself and slow down other parts of your business and everything ran smooth.  If you spend too much on marketing, you'll likely have to wait to develop more products and services or you might have to actually slow down on the advertising altogether.  This actually happens a lot, someone will spend $750 in their first week and think they're going to make a bunch of sales, but they don't profit what they thought they would and now they have to wait for more profits to come in before they can advertise again.  It's actually better to spread the wealth across multiple weeks while monitoring everything and making sure your investment isn't wasted.

In this discussion, I'll be sharing 5 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget better than spending it all at once on a single PPC campaign 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

Get active on forums
People don't utilize forums as much as they should, and it's actually sad to see because they could make a good amount of money from just sharing information and answering questions that people asked which are related to your niche or industry.  If you search for forums in the same niche as your business, you will likely find a bunch, and that means you can now go register on them and help people out 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget  When you register, try to use your websites name as your username so it's branded a little more.  You won't want to put .com, .net, .us, etc. because it won't look right in your username.  People will understand what you're trying to do and they will be able to find your website through your signature on each comment or post you make 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

Not only will you boost your sales a little bit from the actual posts, you will be boosting your backlinks from niche related websites, increasing your rankings on all the major search engines 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget  So, not only will you make a few sales from helping out on forums, you will boost your rankings within Google and the other search engines and hopefully get a flood of traffic in that turns into new clients 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

Guest post to big blogs in your industry
This is similar to targeting forums within your niche, but now you're targeting blogs with high domain authority (DA).  Usually, the blogs that are easy to find when you do a basic search for your main keywords are a good start to get some guest posts on.  You can always go through Moz and research the blogs you want to post to, but a niche backlink on a website that is getting traffic is always a good thing to have, so you probably don't need to research it at all 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

You will get traffic directly from the post, some websites and blogs actually credit their success to guest posts on big blogs, so this could be a great way to get the money rolling in without spending a single penny on advertising 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget  Another benefit from guest posts is that you can boost your rankings, just like forum posting, and get even higher in the SERPs to gain even more traffic and sales 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

Researching to avoid wasted clicks on PPC campaigns
When you start up a PPC campaign, when you're on a budget, you will want to make sure that all of your clicks are high quality and not wasted on pointless keywords.  You do this because if you're targeting broad match keywords, you could actually show up on a website that isn't exactly related to your own, and that means people might just click through due to curiosity and don't really know what you're selling or have any intention of purchasing.  The PPC platforms don't care if the person wants to buy or not, they will charge you for the click regardless, and you now just wasted money on your PPC campaign because you didn't do your research.

Doing your research doesn't mean you figure out what websites you want to be on, it means you need to figure out how the platform works and what exact match keywords you want to target.  I've never been a huge fan of broad match keywords because you can land on any website it seems like, so I usually stick to exact match and accept less traffic that converts at a much higher rate 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

Retargeting specific visitors to your website
When you have your PPC campaign up and running, you'll want to be sure you have a Facebook ad campaign set up that is for retargeting.  Basically, you'll set a pixel on your check out page so it records everyone that lands on it.  If the person happens to leave the page, they will now be targeted by your facebook ad because the pixel essentially recorded them on your site and will now show them an ad for your website 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget  I'm sure you've heard people say something along the lines of "I was on this one website yesterday and now it's showing up in my newsfeed!" and that's retargeting at play lol 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

You'll be able to target the people that showed interest in your products, especially if you have your pixel on the checkout page where people have already made the decision to purchase, but they may have abandoned their carts.  Now you have a chance to pull them back in with a retargeted discount or something else enticing, and they will come check out 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

In conclusion
Above are just a few ways you can boost your marketing campaigns without breaking the bank.  There are likely dozens more, but these are a few of the biggest ones that have been tested by literaly hundreds of thousands of marketers and I know they work because I'm one of them lol 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget  So, if you're on a budget, be sure to get active on forums and blogs as well as do plenty of PPC research so you know what to target and also set up a retargeting campaign to bring interested visitors back in 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget  If you can master all of that, you'll be successful in no time at all 4 tips to perform your online marketing on a budget

Good points, and I'm interested in the pixel thing at the checkout counter, its the first time I've heard of it. Does that mean I can keep tabs on traffic coming from Facebook? How do I set that up? What do you mean by pixel?

In a nutshell you're making the visitor load up an invisible element on your website after a specific action in order to track them, and then you'll create a social media ad based on that data. More info: https://www.acquisio.com/blog/agency/4-simple-steps-create-facebook-retargeting-campaign/

This is a time tested and working way to increase conversion rate.

It's great to know that forums work well in adding exposure and credibility to site owners. You don't have to pay much or at all to share your thoughts and opinions here. Simply let your choice words and ideas do the talking. It shows that the greatest strength is the person himself and not whatever tricks or gimmicks one can employ.

Forums provide a great marketing opportunity for online entrepreneurs. You can not only use forums to generate backlinks and traffic but also advertise your business. I participate on over a dozen forums on various niches. The best thing about forum posting is you can use it for free. However, there is also a drawback of forums if you are using it for marketing purpose. It demands active participation. If you are not very active on forums, you cannot generate traffic and sales.

It depends on the niche of the forum and also on the policies. Some admins and mods are so strict with spamming that a mere mention of your business can cause an infraction. But I also see some forums that not only allow the mention of the business but even encourages to post on the forum the details of your business as long as it does not go against the niche of hte forum.

Getting active on forums and blogs works perfectly for me because it helps to create more awareness about what you are offering, and if it's good enough, there is every chance that people would patronize your product and services.

Making use of signatures with your account while being active on these forums would help get you direct access from other members on the forums to your marketing campaigns.

I am active on numerous forums. I share my links in my profile as well as signatures. I have been using forums as a marketing platform since a long time.
In order to benefit from forums, you need to check a couple of things such as:
SERP for the forum
DA and PA
number of users
Daily activities
You will benefit from foruyms only when the forum has a high rank, have a lot of active members and get a good traffic. You can take a cue about the forum from alexa rank and DA.

@vinaya I completely agree with you on this, getting active on forums would only be beneficial if the forums that you are frequenting always have numerous members who are quite active on the site. A forum that is well high ranked would only make it possible for you advertising and marketing using link sharing and signature to have a positive impact.

It also takes a lot of time from your life. I mean if you remain active on forums. You can't do a lot of things. And this means your time is pretty much wasted. So you have to spend the time wisely in any forums that are around. And stick with the sites where you can get proper benefit. And not lose the time for not worthy stuff.

Good suggestions but these really are time consuming. Being active on several forums simultaneously eats away too much time from daily routine.

For me I think forum works lot better than anything so far. I have found out the forums get more traffic compared to any other mode of the traffic. People get more indexed content from forum. And so the traffic is also decent. I personally think that making the most out of the low budget. You have to add the content marketing in your list of marketing channels. That seems to be the way to understand how the online marketing works out in that case.

One of the benefits of using a forum is free marketing and promotion. You can find many forums on various niches where you can market and promote your services and products. Forums are also a good platform to learn and share. You can learn from the users as well as share your knowledge with the members. However, you will benefit from forums only when the forum gets high traffic and has many members.

I think forum can tell you a lot about progress of your blog and the site. Here you can ask people about the feedback. And then take that feedback and improve. Also the backlink brings traffic. So thing such as that are good if people start taking things serious and working on forums for traffic. I think that should be the approach.

In layman's words, Forums help a site by helping it to rank in search engines that's for certain because of the sheer volume of posts being posted regularly. Each topic and post made helps the sites visibility.

Forums are actually really beneficial and can be a massive way to market your business or website especially if you are on a budget. A lot of forums will have signature space and some will even have a promotional forum where you can post an advertisement about your business/website. If you can utilise this space properly and make sure that you are active enough on the forum for people to see your signature then it can be great. Plus, it's free which makes it even better!

Great discussion you have chosen to talk about. You are right and also social media plays a big part in the online marketing and promoting these days. Many of us like to budget also often find cheap ways to do this but often we need to pay for quality not quantity.

Try marketing offline. That's a great way to market on a budget. Can't just market your business or site digitally, you also have to spread the word around your town, city or municipality as well. What you gain in free advertising offline, will allow you to save money to do better online marketing.

I agree that marketing offline is also a great idea for those people who cannot afford to have some social media sites. Offline marketing could be a helpful one because you will just need the patience to do some house to house visit to advertise certain products or services or even offering freebies every time you will visit to towns or barangays in a certain locality so that more people will be attracted to give a try for your offered services or products.

Not house to house, unless you need or want to. But placing business cards in high traffic areas, sporting apparel that carries your brand, putting up fliers, etc. Plenty of ways to get it done.

This is a great way to save, especially when you live in a small town and know most of the people there, and they can act as your marketing agents to other people as well via word of mouth.

" …they could make a good amount of money from just sharing information and answering questions that people asked which are related to your niche or industry."

Using forums is definitely a really effective way of gaining a positive reputation in your niche. I know several examples of people who gained great popularity from posting on forums.

One recent example which comes to mind is the case of Dr. Jordan Peterson. He would hang out on the site Quora and answer many people's questions, and he quickly began to gain an online following. It certainly helped that he was a trained professor and clinical psychologist who knew what he was talking about, but of course even you yourself won't get anywhere if you don't know your material.

Know your stuff, get out there and help people, and you'll certainly make a name for yourself as well.

Thanks for the tips. I'm just now doing my research into ways of getting free traffic. I think paid traffic is too expensive considering the rate of conversion. I'm also getting into forums as a way of getting free traffic but it seems a bit tricky because it's very easy to be spamy and I hear that the famous Google Algorithm is onto this type of method and will not hesitate to ban you. I continue to pursue this method because I think it has potential.

Free traffic can be gotten but it will take lots of time on your end. If you want to get free traffic that has value but doesn't eat up so much of your time? Try scheduling social media posts.

Well you can post your products in top selling sites like Amazon and eBay where it would be visible to millions of people searching for products, it's free and easy to do.

I don't think that without boosting and paying for advertising for your product on these sites that it would reach more viewers because it's when people actually see what you offer that they might patronize you or not depending on their preference.

There is one site here called Jiji, they promise what you just mentioned about registering and uploading your products it would sell but it's not all true. Without paying for its advertising, there is less chance of getting it sold.

You can do Instagram ads via Facebook this will lead traffic directly to your website and you can also target Facebook groups using it. And you don't even have to have an Instagram account to run an ad campaign because it's managed and run by Facebook.

I agree that being active in forums and social media can help a lot in your online marketing. In fact, I have several friends whose main occupation is drop shipping that’s why I understand their daily posts about the products that they are selling. They already said that we have to bear with their posts and banning or blocking them will be a sad thing. In other words, they are seeking friendly help so we just allow them do to their business in social media.

Forums are not really that useful in driving sales traffic if you're the one making posts there and hoping for someone to click on a link in your signature, and also many (most?) forums add a nofollow tag to any outgoing links, so your point about getting backlinks that way is pretty moot.

Otherwise these are very useful tips for someone who is just starting out.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DenisP
I have to respectfully disagree. The thing is that the forum strategy isn't about advertisement, at least not in the sense of putting up a billboard with your name on it and hoping it will promote sales.

It's about gaining a reputation as a person with authority with regards to your niche. Through actively posting on forums and helping people with your knowledge and service, you can gain a following which can expand exponentially and greatly help sales. It certainly isn't something that happens as quickly as one would like, but it's a good long term strategy nonetheless.

Your point about backlinks is true though. The majority of forums do in fact add nofollow tags to outgoing links, so using them to build backlinks isn't helpful.
