4 ways bad marketing can hurt your business

Bad marketing isn't something that you want to be doing, especially if you're paying a company to do it, because it will never help you out.  Bad marketing is something that can kill your company, not just set it back, because it gets word around about you and it might not be in a good way at all.  Think about it, if you promote a classic modeling agency on a big beautiful woman website, you will be seen as a jerk, and people will usually share your website in a negative way.  This actually happens pretty frequently, and it's due to people setting up branding campaigns through Adwords and not specifying where they wanted to be shown.  They will then show up for unrelated keywords and seen on websites that shouldn't be within their targeting, and the people on these websites will get annoyed about you flaunting your skinny people on a big person website, then they will share their hatred for the "perfect body" and share your link.

If you don't know what you're doing, you'll need to outsource the marketing work, because you won't want to hurt your own image online.  There are plenty of companies that can help you with your marketing, not matter what type of targeting you're trying to do, but there are also a lot of bad companies out there that are just starting off or don't know what they're doing and they will just hurt your image.  It won't bother these companies much if your image is dragged through the mud, because the only person leaving them a review would be you, and they'll likely spin it so that you believe it wasn't them who did the shotty work and it was likely a competitor of yours doing a smear campaign.  I would recommend searching into great marketing companies, not just SEO companies, and see what they can do for a reasonable price if you don't know what you're doing yourself of course 4 ways bad marketing can hurt your business  If you do know what you're doing, be 100% positive that you're taking the right steps, or you could be seeing the consequences such as:

You could brand yourself in a negative light
Branding yourself in a negative light is never a good thing for a business.  You will be seen as the "Jerk" within your industry, and no one will want to work with you.  This isn't high school where the girls want the bad boy, this is business and no one wants to be associated with the bad websites.  Do everything right from the beginning or bring someone on that knows how to do it, so you don't brand yourself in a negative light and hurt your own brand.

You could say something you shouldn't have
When you go out and start doing your own marketing, you might act as yourself and get defensive when someone talks bad about your business.  People that do this usually don't last long, or they change their ways rather quickly and hopefully boost their image back to good standings within the community.  If you say something you shouldn't have, you don't know who's watching, especially if your comments or posts are going on an open forum or blog where there could be thosuands of people waiting to share something like what you screwed up lol.

You could pull a "Papa Johns" and loose partnerships
If you've been living under a rock, I'll fill you in on this whole scenario lol.  Back when the NFL players were kneeling during the national anthem, the viewers dropped for each football game, where Papa Johns advertised their commercials to make money from their thousands of stores.  Sure, if you're not getting the views you thought you would, and your profits drop slightly you'll likely be mad.  What Papa Johns CEO did was blame the NFL directly for the drop in profits and blamed them for pretty much everything that happened.  What they did wrong was point fingers at one of their biggest advertisers, who in result cancelled their partnership, dropping Papa Johns sales even further lol.

Don't point fingers because of sales dropping, especially if you have a great contract with a billion dollar company who is suffering slightly from bad publicity, because you'll just fall further.

You could lose a ton of sales due to bad marketing
The biggest thing that comes from bad marketing is a drop in sales, which is something you never want to experience, because it could kill your company in a short amount of time lol 4 ways bad marketing can hurt your business  Hopefully you're monitoring everything that happens with your marketing and PR, so you don't run into this problem, but if it does happen it will be like a quick snowball effect.  You could get some bad publicity while you're sleeping, and if you run everything by yourself or have a small team, you might not get into damage control mode until a few hours after it was posted.  By that time, there has already been some damage done and it will likely continue due to people having that image in their head already.

A drop in sales is normal due to holidays, events, time of day, time of year, and basically anything you could think of that would take people away from your business for a day or two.  People aren't going to browse online all the time, so your sales will usually look like a roller coaster if you're tracking them.  You can't blame this on other people, or even apologize for your own actions, because it's normal and happens to everyone.

Bad marketing will pretty much kill your website or business since you'll be seen in a bad light.  You will see your traffic spike initially, but your sales won't jump at all, and this is due to people coming to your website to see what someone was talking down about.  So don't fall into a bad marketing plan and lose all your sales, or even worse, have your company completely fail.

In conclusion
Bad marketing is rampant online, mainly because people don't know what they're doing and try to put the pieces together anyway.  If you don't know what you're doing, bring in a consultant or even outsource the work to a credible company who can do it for you, so you don't blow it up from trying on your own.  Marketing isn't easy, it takes time to learn and it takes only a few actions to screw it up lol.  Your sales might drop, but be sure what they are dropping for, and never call out a partner or competitor for the reasons your sales drop.  This will just make you look petty and it will never have a positive impact on your overall business.

I have seen buzzfeed and some of the other content marketing machines are making some really good conversion. And that can be a good option in terms of the business. You can see that bad marketing does have it's own issues. And some of the time you can see that making the controversy can be good or bad. But the people have to learn to take the bad marketing the right way. That's for sure.

Marketing is the lifeblood of any business. If done correctly you will be able to attract more customers which will in turn increase your sales revenue and subsequently your profits. Marketing is so crucial for a business that I strongly believe it must be left to the experts. Before selecting any marketing company you should do a background check. You can't just select any company as blindy selecting a bad one will have disastrous effects on your company. The marketing experts will know how to implement a successful marketing campaign which will eventually have positive effects on your business.

Saying something that you shouldn’t have means you have lost control of your business sense. As the saying goes, the customer is always right and pesky clients can sometimes get to your nerve. That’s the reason why some business honchos hire their own hatchet man who takes care of dirty business like arguing with an illogical client or an abusive prospect. If you own the business, you don’t have to do the dirty job yourself. At least on hindsight, you have a fallback if your hatchet man commits a booboo.

Yes, there is a saying in publicity circles that there is no bad publicity but I think there is definitely bad marketing. If you are doing something to uknowingly antagonize your customers I would say that is bad marketing. The last thing you want to do is show yourself in a negative light.

I think how we are doing is more important than what we are doing when it comes to internet marketing. If we're not using the proper marketing method, we may never get the desired result, or may even lose our existing sales volume. I have a site on lingerie niche. I decided to promote the site on a Facebook group. The group featured lingerie models, therefore, I had an impression that I will get traffic because my website also had images of lingerie models. sadly, the members of the group had an impression that my website is on soft porn niche.

I agree how we are doing is often measured and it keeps us in consistency. You can see that some of the time it can be a harder game in many ways. That being said, bad marketing seems to be a reality from what I have seen. Lot of people get their product and business hurt by doing actions that are not suitable for the brand.

social media marketing and search engine marketing are the two best marketing methods. However, in order to benefit from these marketing methods, you have to do it in a right way. You have to target your customers because if your business does not reach the target audience, there will be no sales. Having a high budget for your marketing does not ensure that you will get the desired result. Targeting the potential customers even with a low budget will benefit more.

I prefer the SMO over SEO. The reason being SEO is guestimation game. None of us can have any idea on how to get the best out of it. I do however think that some people get the SMO to get themselves result. And some of the time benefit from the SMO works out for the SEO in terms of the branding.

social media marketing is better than search engine optimization because you can encourage social media users to click your contents. But then social media marketing is a tiring work, you have to wotk every day. The day you stop promoting on social media, you will not have any traffic.

Yes branding is lot easier with the social media. And also you can do lot better things with the social media tools out there. I have worked on many small things. And so far it seems to be working on video and the images side. I know one thing for sure that some of the time marketing needs to be done properly for this to work.

Using videos, even while doing social media marketing, will leverage your marketing campaigns.
One of the important points to consider is targeting real customers. Your advertorials should reach the people who will actually use your products and services.

Yes videos always have the impact on the people. And we definitely benefit from the marketing of the business there. I can tell you that most of the brands make use of the simple video advertising. And it works out for them. You just have to start with something simple content in video and move ahead with it.

If you are using youtube for video marketing, it can benefit in two ways, one you can monetize your youtube video, two you can promote your business, products, service or website.
There are a lot of programs that help you to create video. You can even create video from images and text.

I think for videos under 2 min. You can't have much stronger monetization. As the videos need to be longer and better for that to work. Most of the small videos dont get much monetization. So having the big videos always a good idea in that case.

I would never commit a "Papa John;s--I am still trying to figure out how the leaders of a company could be so wrong and off the mark with their behaviors. It's somewhat astonishing because, it seems to me, that not doing what they did is just common sense. Once your brand is seen in a negative light, it can take forever to fix that if it is even possible to depending on the situation. I agree that there is such a thing as "bad publicity", and sometimes, once a person or company is marked with it, there is, unfortunately, no turning back.

I'm completely in support of the last option on the effects of bad marketing on your business. It's definitely going to negatively affect your business sales by making it hit the rock bottom and getting it way up from when it's down is a very difficult task to embark on. Image repairing takes lots of time because people would have probably lost trust in the product or services.

Bad marketing is obviously not good and can hurt your business. But what is bad marketing? One of the aspects that I have a common experience with bad marketing is when I am inquiring about the business and I get a blank stare or an ignorant answer. That is usually what I experience in fast food outlets when I am asking about the problems that arose from the business like bad food or uncooked food.
