4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer

Whenever someone starts on their content writing journey, they never really think of how casual reading will help them with their work. In fact, reading will expand you mind a lot and help you write quicker and more efficiently while keeping your readers engaged the entire time. Before I started writing, I didn't read many books, because I just didn't have time for it. Now that I'm building up my content writing service more and more each day, I know that reading is more related to market research than wasting my time on it when I could have been working on orders lol.

Since every writer has their own style, they will have different variations to say the same thing. This means you will be able to have various sentences running through your head for the one thing you're trying to say, and you could even mesh them together to make one super sentence 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer

Have you ever noticed that the majority of people who are book worms tend to be more intellectual than others? They may not be as personable, but they tend to be smarter than most people, and it's usually because they're learning as they read. I've been reading books for a while and I didn't realize how much I was actually learning until I was forced into a trivia night at a local bar. I knew most of the answers without having to really think much, and I have to credit that to reading books that I wasn't exactly excited to read 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer

In this discussion, I'll be going over 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer, and those ways are:

You see how professionals are writing
When you're reading books, you see how the professionals are stringing together sentences and phrasing something to keep you wanting to read. There have been plenty of times that friends have recommended a book to me, and when I started reading it I thought it was boring, but I stuck it out and eventually started to see how to read it. Since every writer has a different method or writing, you need to figure out what it is in order to enjoy what you're reading. Usually they write at a high level, but that shouldn't discourage you from trying to crack open a book and read it 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer

If you can see how the professionals are writing, you can mimic it and even meld it into your own writing style, making your content better and better over time 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer

You develop a larger vocabulary
It's no secret that writers have a much larger vocabulary than the majority of the world. This is because they are constantly researching and implementing what they need to in order to boost their own writing skills. They will read for hours upon hours before they will finish just one page of a book they are writing for themselves, building up their own vocabulary along the way.

Another trick they do is read through the dictionary, yes people actually do this, and they learn a vast amount of words they can use for their next chapter. You can benefit from their hours of work, by just reading what they wrote for the masses 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer It's like a condenses vocabulary lesson that you can use to your advantage when you write your own articles 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer

You understand how to use emotional triggers
Emotional triggers are big when it comes to a book that is in the drama or action niche. Emotional triggers are something a writer uses to evoke emotions from the reader. Movies can do this with words and suggestive music, but a book cannot do this so the writers must know how to get your emotions flowing in order to keep you reading.

One emotional trigger, that a ton of people know about, is a cliff hanger. People always want more, and if you build up the story to an explosive point, then cut it off abruptly, you will evoke a wide array of emotions and that's why a cliff hanger always works 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer They're sometimes really annoying, especially when you spent a lot of money on a book or to go see movie that you expect to end reasonably, and then it doesn't.

Using emotional triggers will keep your readers coming back time and time again, and it will always boost your own writing skills.

You figure out how to keep people interested
This is a big one, you can't be successful if people get to your content and leave almost immediately. By reading, you will see how writers are keeping you interested, and you can use that to your advantage. You will know how to get people staying on your pages and coming back for more when they eventually do leave.

If you can't get anything I've mentioned above to work for you, but you can keep people interested somehow, you'll boost your sales and website traffic. Keeping the attention of someone is difficult, especially online where you have to capture them within the first 10 seconds dof them landing on your page, so if you master this point you won't have to worry about much 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer

In Conclusions
Reading will always help you with content writing because you're essentially researching other writers and how they do things. You will take your own experiences and emotions for the content you're reading and implement it into your own content 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer Over time, you will begin to see people gravitating towards your content and commenting on it as well as sharing it and maybe even paying you for your services or products 4 ways reading books will make you a better content writer

Yes, I heartily agree with this. There is a reason that every "real" writer whatever that is, is also a reader. You learn alot about how to develop a hook that keeps readers interested, as well as the other benefits you have already mentioned.

One thing I will admit that I admired my big sister and always wanted to follow her example. She was an avid reader, she had a great vocabulary, and she knew how to get me excited (emotional triggers) and interested (couldn't wait to know The End) by retelling the stories she had read.

I once read that all those great or so-called successful people have a common habit, which is the habit of reading. I am sure I have benefited a lot from reading, especially reading the books or articles I like, not the text books I was forced to read in order to pass the exams. As English is not my first language, I was trying hard to study the language when I was in school, but that didn't really help me to improve as much as I started to read more in my later years. As I can find more information that I was researching for in English, hence I started to read more English blog posts or articles online, and that's how I guess my English writing has been slightly improved. I hope by reading and learning more, I will be able to write better posts in future too.

By the way, I really like how you write. Not only it's informative, but also it's easy to read and understand, even for a non-native English person like me. Thanks for always sharing your great advice!

This reminds me of another topic which asked if readers make better writers. And I agree with all the points. Sometimes leaving your readers with too much suspense is not good. They will come back for more yes but it is nice to satisfy their triggered emotion once in a while.

I agree that reading will enable us to improve on our vocabulary. This is something my English teacher used to tell me frequently so I could improve on writing composition and essays.

No one becomes a writer without becoming a reader. If you want to become a writer, you have to become a reader. There are many benefits of reading, for instance
    you will learn writing style
    you will language
    you will build vocabulary
you will learn how to engage the readers
Reading will also help you gain knowledge and information.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. In order to become proficient in any form of art, you have to look to others as examples. Odds are that unless you're some sort of super genius, you're probably going to have to learn your craft from someone else. A painter will analyze the colors and brush strokes used by painters before him. A musician will analyze the melodies and rhythms of musicians before him. As such, a writer must analyze the formatting and vocabulary of writers before him.

In order to understand the art of writing you must read books. However, you should be careful about choosing books. If you want to write detective stories, you will have to read detective stories. By reading romantic stories, you will never build the art of writing detective stories. You should always read the related genre.

Oh that's certainly true. Going back to my analogy, obviously if you're trying to create electronic dance music, you're not going to look to artists like Mozart or Beethoven for inspiration. Sure you might get some ideas out of them, but in order to get the sound you're looking for you have to look to other electronic dance music artists.

On a similar note, it's also important to review the quality of an author. If you're reading poor quality content, it's going to influence you negatively and your writing may end up similarly poor quality.

Apart from reading on the related genres, you also need to check the author's quality. If you read low-quality books and base your knowledge on these low-quality contents, you will have limited knowledge, even wrong knowledge. When you choose a book, you also need to check the author's quality.

I couldn't agree more that reading books helps you greatly when it comes to content writing. I have been reading ever since I can remember. It was my mother that got me into books because she's a bookworm herself. If you read your vocabulary and use of words will elevate so, so much. Besides that, you will see how different authors write, what their style is and how they keep the reader's attention.

All of this can then be applied to your own content.

You hit the nail on the head with that mention of building a large vocabulary. That is my present weakness, a small vocabulary that results in my writing to be simple. There was a forum that the admin had messaged me about my English. It’s okay though but I was asked to broaden my horizon in terms of the thesaurus which means I need to know more synonyms so my choice of words and terms will not be limited. And I hastily agreed for I already know what I lacked.

Great writers and successful people really read lots of books. Writers who have developed their own style of writing is the result of reading different books written by different authors. I was not fond of reading when I was still studying. I read only my lessons and books when examinations are coming. And now that I aspire to become a content writer, I just realized how important reading really is.

There is NO SUCH THING as a good writer who is not a CONSTANT READER. I would stand by until my grave on this point. People who do not read enough and just show up and blast out their words and then are disappointed, somehow, that they do not become instantly famous drive me a bit nuts. Okay, whew. Now that THAT is off of my hairy chest, I just want to say that our minds feed off of good writing, just like you are lifting weights, so if you do enough "heavy lifting" in your reading, your writing will demonstrate those muscles.

I agree. Reading is everything especially for writers. I love to read, It's one of my hobbies. It transports you into a whole new world especially where you are not where you want to be in life. Reading also gives you all sorts of new ideas especially in terms of content. I love reading personal development books and books on diet and exercise. My niche when writing articles is health. Reading takes my articles to the next level, because I'm able to play around with different people's theories.

All of these points are exactly why I read so much. Any time my mother calls me and asks what I'm doing, she always goes "Wait, let me guess. You're reading, aren't you?", and about 90% of the time she would be correct. Reading is absolutely necessary to be able to generate good content. This can be applied to just about any field in life which involves creativity. A good painter looks to great painters before him. A good musician listens to the music of great musicians. And a good writer reads books written by great writers. By emulating others we can not only improve ourselves but also find our own style as well.

Reading will improve your writing skills a lot, but having a good general education background should also go hand in hand with this. You can't learn all the nuances of a particular language when you only rely on the books that you have read. keeping people interested is also about researching the trending topics currently available. You can either "go with the trend" or start something new to keep your readers always on the lookout for fresh content that cannot be found in other writers' portfolio.

Reading books is a sure way to improve your skills as a writer. They give you new insights to difficult questions in life. Even with work. I learned that you also have to practice by doing actual writing. Combining these two can prove to be highly significant in your writing career.
