3 of the main reasons your blog isn't great

When you work on a lot of websites and blogs, you start to see a common trend, and that is most of the blogs out there aren't actually that great.  People think they're doing all the right things, but they're actually just posting a wall of content that no one wants to read.  Everyone talks about how important their blogs are, but many of them don't show them enough love, and they become stagnant and don't really provide much value to the website it's attached to.  One of the main reasons I put a blog on all of my websites is to pull in traffic from targeted and obscure keywords I wouldn't have thought to target, in order to get an additional sale or two.  What a lot of people don't realize is that a blog can be the main reason you're actually pulling in traffic to your website and making money.

I may be a little straight forward in this post, but it's kind of needed since this is becoming an epidemic lol.  Poeple forget that they need to post content consistently, distribute a decent amount of content, as well as find other websites and blogs to guest post on in order to build authority and traffic streams.  Back before blogging was a thing for websites, or before websites were around, you had to call up your local newspaper and get a publication about yourself.  Now, you can just write up all the content you want and add it to your own website, making you look like the authority within the niche and not really relying on the newspapers to do it for you.  So you would think a lot of people would post to their blogs regulary, right?  WRONG!  Many people post once a month and think that's good enough, which it isn't.

Actually, the majority of blogs out there are lack luster and don't perform well, and here are the reasons they aren't great:

Infrequent posting habits
Many people won't post as often as they should be.  We know that you might not have time to do this all the time, but there are services and plugins that can help you automate the problem.

The Problem:
Well, if you couldn't figure this one out, you're not posting enough.  You might think that once a week is enough, but it's not.  If you're posting once a week, you're actually publishing more content than 75% of the blogs out there who are publishing unique content once a month lol.

What you can do to fix it:
Write up a bunch of articles in one day and schedule them out a month in advance.  Now, if you're planning to post once a day you'll obviously need to write up 30 articles, which could be a lot of work since each post has to be 1,500+ words.  I would suggest investing 3 or 4 days into writing all of your articles so you don't get overwhelmed with this task.  Try writing up 3 a day and use the 4th day only if you don't hit 10 a day in the first 3 days.  Your 4th day is basically an add-on that you shouldn't always use, but is there in case something comes up in the first 3 days and you can't write any content.

After you have all of your content written up, you need to schedule it out over the course of the entire month.  If you have a month with 30 days, you need 30 articles.  Schedule them to go out once a day and then you can focus on other aspects of your business that need your attention 3 of the main reasons your blog isn

There's no content distribution
Content distribution is huge when you're trying to build up your own website.  You need to be doing it in order to give your competition a run for their money.

The Problem:
Bloggers will write up a great piece of content and expect massive amounts of people to come and read it, which doesn't really happen.  I would say that around 99.9% of bloggers today don't try to distribute their content, and that's one of the reasons your blog isn't doing as well as it should be.

What you can do to fix it:
One of the best ways to distribute your content as quick as possible is to go on facebook and share your new blog post on your business or blog page.  Now, you're not just copying and pasting all of the content to your facebook page, you're just going to post a URL with a snippet of information.  After you do this, you will now set up a facebook PPC campaign and target anyone that is interested in that specific post.  This will help you increase your engagement across the board and you'll likely get a decent amount of traffic going to your website and signing up for your newsletter 3 of the main reasons your blog isn

You don't have a laid out strategy
When it comes to increasing your rankings on all the search engines, you will need to have a pretty good authority.  In order to gain authority, you need to have high authority backlinks aimed at your pages.  To do this, you can distribute your content to other blogs and websites in order to get a dofollow backlink aimed at your website.

The Problem:
Many times I will come across a nice looking blog with a decent amount of content, but they lack backlinks which will increase their authority and then their rankings.  You can't just post a bunch of content and think you're going to rank over your competition, you have to do work off of your website as sort of a 2 point attack.

What you can do to fix this:
You can go to blogs in your industry and ask them if you can post a long, high quality, post to their website for free.  You will write it up, send it over to them to post, or even make an author account on their website and post the content yourself.  You'll basically be a guest author and posting content that will help their rankings, as well as your own 3 of the main reasons your blog isn

The more high quality backlinks you can get, the better chances you'll have of ranking on top of the search results for your desired keywords 3 of the main reasons your blog isn

A lot of companies focus more on generating content for other company blogs than their own, and this is simply because they're targeting higher rankings in the search engines that will then send them plenty of high quality traffic 3 of the main reasons your blog isn  Of course, they will write up plenty of content for their own websites, but they will only have one or two people doing this compared to teams of people posting on other websites in order to bring in traffic.

In Conclusion
You need to run your blog likes it's a content generating machine.  Post a minimum of once per day, you can get away with 3 a week, but the more content you post the better your results will be.  Work with other big blogs in your industry and build up your authority so you can increase your rankings over time from all the high quality backlinks you'll have coming in.  You also need a well planned out strategy, so get that ironed out before you do anything.

That's some really great advice for every blogger out there. And I know you're trying to help people, but I wish articles like this had some sort of clause saying "Do not spend any more money on your blog then your willing to lose." Because truth be told I have seen people spend $350's to $3,000's of dollars on a blog only to have it go nowhere. Now I am not saying every blog is going to be unsuccessful. But at the very least warn people about the potential of losing money because some people are will to spend money they don't have in order to chase a dream.

What do you mean by bloggers spending that amount of money, is it for the advertising expenses in promoting the blog? I have to agree because if the blog is not interesting to me, even if a friend would urge me to read the blog I don’t think I would. That is like saying that when you are advertising a bad product then the hype in the advertisement will not be converted to sales simply because the product you are selling is not good.

Producing great content is really the biggest challenge I'm currently dealing. I'm still figuring out the sequence of the content that I'll publish to prevent my readers from getting confused of what really my blog site is all about.

Quality content is critical (this is the golden rule), but also try to plan the postings that will follow so that readers don't have to wait so long until some new post appears becuse most readers get bored very easily.

Aside from the points mentioned out in the content of this thread, Google and other search engines have some target and that's content. Content is king as far as getting high rankings in search engines is concerned. You can earn unlimited income with your very own brand (Your own website) for a long term if the website is content-enriched. That's the main secret to getting ranked in search engines.

So, without enriching your website with quality and keyword-rich contents, your blog can never be great. It will rather look dull and will not be visible to the world except to yourself. Once you become an authority in your niche, this leads to rankings and rankings lead to traffic. When traffic comes, you make money.

This is something I normally do most days some days I do have my off days and this is when I feel the writer's block coming. The moment I have my laptop in my hand I have a great idea, I log in to WordPress and create a new post and often the idea just vanishes.

What I normally do is plan my post out before doing all my writing... So I would think of all my headings first like my h1 is already for the title... I write in the post its self headings a number of them down the page... I then save it, I do then go back to it and then my minds more refreshed I write my content in between my headings so I don't lose track of what I was thinking of on my topic.

Well stated, blogs shouldn't be stagnated but a lot of bloggers are so inconsistent with posting, posting an article once in 3 weeks, it shows unseriousness.Personally, I wouldn't go back to a blog with inconsistency.Another pitfall is writing on subject that one is not versed in,making the post less factual and without substance or in-depth.Readers need blogs that the post is built on facts and not fallacies.

When I read articles on blogs where the topic is not talked about well, it makes me wonder the reason such is happening. Visitors to blogs will come back when they feel satisfied from previous visits to the site.

I believe on you that. The article should be interesting so that the customer will like it. There are so many blogs online and some of them are not all competitive to read.

Well--you caught me--guilty as charged. I am NOT consistent enough with my posts. I am ok in the other areas which you mention here, but I do let other responsibilities and sometimes laziness keep me from posting om a regular basis. This is the quickest way, probably, other than having a blog that does not have a decent appearance or content, to lose your audience, frequenters, or readers. I have made it a personal goal, recently, to be better about this, and my weekly postings are now back on track. Hopefully, I can keep this up!

I would advise you try to improve on the consistency of your postings. Sometimes it's not easy especially when one is busy with other things, but making out time to write on your blog can be beneficial too.

Barida,
I totally hear you here--I realize how being consistent could be more beneficial for the blog. Other than pumping out good content, I'd say that is rule number one for blogging. Once you do get some traffic at your blog, you don't want to lose it because those who enjoy your content start to think that you post too erratically--then, they never get a routine or rhythm with what you are doing, and they can get sick of that and leave permanently.

Writing series of articles that will make it possible for the blogger to post it in a schedule time. What can always push visitors away from blogs is when there is no much content on it.

Over the last few months I have been busy with my other freelancing works and have not been devoting much time to my blog. I post only once or twice per week. The traffic to my website has decreased due to that so has my earnings. You suggested some great ideas above. When I have some free time I will try to write some content and in this way if I am busy on a particular day I can use those.

I think these are some excellent suggestions to keep your blog going and have it be one that people flock to. I especially like the tip about writing a bunch at once, and then fanning them out over time. There are times you feel like writing and posting and times you don't. You might as well strike while the iron is hot so to speak.

Infrequent posting habits are actually one of the biggest reasons your blog probably isn't doing too well. As a gaming blogger, I have to post every day to ensure that I keep up with the latest gaming news and that all my readers know everything that is happening in the gaming world as well. Missing a day or even two days would be awful for me.

I started my blogging attempts years ago and it has been a painful learning experience. It still hurts a little bit but not nearly as bad as when I first began. 3 of the main reasons your blog isn The advice tips you set forth in your post, I can state frankly from my own experience that YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!

Infrequent posting habits.
  • If you're gonna blog, blog!

There's no content distribution.
  • The traffic is not going to come to you. You have to go and get it!

You don't have a laid out strategy.
  • When does one ever approach anything major or of great importance and significance in their life without having a game plan?

I agree with your Conclusion.

I fall into this category. I created blogs and thought my blogs were great and people will flock to read my blogs. Sadly, this does not happen. I also have the habit of infrequent posting. I published 20 plus articles when I launched my blogs, promoted the posts and managed to get some traction from social media, however, after sometimes my presence on my blog became limited and then finally died out. That's because I was not focusing on my priority. I was more interested in earning short-term money by writing for clients rather than working on my blogs and earn revenue.

I think having regular content and adding the links to and from other websites. That can be really helpful. You can see that blogging takes time and you have to be really realistic about the content and promotion plan. Adding links also takes time. You can reach to more guest posting websites and blogs and the forums. And that in itself can be adding more value to the blog. That's another reason I guess blogging is not always going to be good enough.

I know os several blogs that lost a substantial number of readers due to irregular posting schedule. As a blog reader myself, I am turned off to open a blogsite with no update as against my expectation. For a blog with a weekly update and suddenly it will have no update in 2 weeks then that is like driving away your readers. Be consistent with the frequency of the updates.

Yes promoting the blog from one place to another seems to be helping some users. But overall I think it'd be interesting to see how the blog can be helped. I have made use of the various types of the posting schedule to change things. But overall that does not seem to be helping in many ways. So just working on small things at a time.

that reminds me it is time for me to do some updates. I have not updated my blog for years. Thanks for your reminder.

Great reasons and the one that I see most often is definitely the fact that blog owners or content creators simply don't post enough. It's plain and simple, do you want many visitors and readers? Then be fully expected to produce A LOT of high-quality, regular content otherwise they will move on and forget your website.

As you have pointed out if you're busy with other things you can quite easily schedule when the posts/articles will be published - even WordPress has that option. Write it for a few weeks ahead and just schedule them to be posted on specific hours.

All three reasons are important to fulfill in order to satisfy your readers and make them come again and engage with your blog in comments, sharing on social media networks etc. There is also more reasons to add to the list which can make blog unsuccessful but i will write more about it in my new community discussion i am preparing in order to make new bloggers become successful and better results for their hard work.

The lack of quality content is the worst of the problems and when it's allied to the few posts frequency, everything gets even worse. Without having quality content to be read and yet having to wait a long time when some of them comes is an extremely demotivating factor for any reader.

Infrequent posting really is the biggest sin, in my opinion. When I return to a blog and continually get disappointed because there's no new content, eventually the habit will die off and I'll just forget the blog even exists. The ones I return to the most are the ones that post new content daily so I know I'll get something new each day. Another upside to that is because they upload regularly they will probably have a lot of content in the archives so if I return earlier than they upload I can just peruse through their back catalog and that way they will retain me as a viewer even if the content is a bit late.

Infrequent posting habits
I agree with this reason 100%. I have never write up 3-4 articles in advance. Hence, my articles are stagnant for months or years. I need to write more in advance and schedule the publish time, good idea.

Your inability to post regularly will prevent your website from getting Google rankings. Regular posting will speed up Google ranking for your website and making sales is guaranteed. Search engines love content so much and are willing to partner with you in so many ways if you are ready to be a regular poster. The biggest secret of getting traffic is in the regular posting and there is no limit to which you can do that.

Blogs - I always fancied myself as the future famous author. I have joined three content writing websites this year only to discover I am largely illiterate and should be embarrassed to state English as my home language (my ONLY language). I have downloaded tools to assist, which only adds to the frustration (yes, I do realise the second sentence of this post is too long).
In short, I would love to one day write my own blog, but I think I still have a lot to learn. When that day comes I will remember your advice.

I agree with you on this, there are so many bloggers who needs to see and read this article very well, because most bloggers and site owners lack everything that there is to be an owner, some just like the name 'owner of a blog' so they could brag about to other people about it when blogging and site does not entails that.

I have a blog that am still trying to put in place, I want to hire someone who can fill in for me since am always busy freelancing, sometimes it is not that some blog/ site owners are or don't have what it takes or the discipline to take care of it, sometimes it is due to busy schedules and multitasking that's why it is good to hire someone to feel in for you when you are not there so to keep the consistency thing in the blog.
