Guest Blogging 101: How to get your posts accepted

When it comes to guest blogging, there are more moving parts than you would think there could be.  Most people think that you can just write up some content and send it off to be published, but it's much more difficult than that.  High authority blogs and websites get dozens of submissions each day, which means you will need to stand out from the pack if you want to keep getting your submissions accepted by the good blogs within you niche.

In this discussion I'll be covering some key things you need to work on in order to get more of your submissions accepted.  Usually when you get a few dozen submissions up and running you get offered a paying gig to write up content for the website you submitted to, but don't bet on it.  I've been writing for a very long time and I've been offered a few positions at companies as their head blogger, but usually they wanted to offer me something along the lines of $10 per post, which is not much for the quality of my writing :'( so I had to turn them down.  Anyway, lets get into it Guest Blogging 101: How to get your posts accepted

High Quality Content
When it comes to getting your guest post published on a good website, you will need to write very well.  Bigger websites won't just accept anything that comes to their inbox, it has to be written up well and entice their readers to engage.  If you can't write up some good content that will help the blog increase its rankings within the SERPs (search engine results pages), help increase engagement or close some leads, you can bet your content will get dismissed and they will move on.

Write your content in a way that isn't pitchy, but makes the reader want to click through to your website when possible.  If your guest post is just one long sales pitch, it will get deleted almost immediately and you won't hear from that blog again lol

Take your time with each guest post and it will benefit you immensely in the end Guest Blogging 101: How to get your posts accepted

Optimize your content
When you're writing content, you need to focus on optimizing it and making it readable at the same time.  This will take some time to master, but you can do it quicker and quicker with each post you write up.  You need to write up the guest post as if you were making a long article for your own website.  You will want to focus on the title so it has a keyword in it and make sure your keyword density isn't over 4% (I like to stay around 2% to 3% just to be safe).

The longer the content and the better it's written, the more likely it will get accepted by the owner of the blog Guest Blogging 101: How to get your posts accepted

The length of your content
When you're submitting numerous guest blog posts, you will want to make sure that your content length is much longer than anyone else submitting.  Most people will submit content that is 500 words and a few will submit posts at 1,000 words.  You'll want to shatter all of that and submit each of your posts at 2,000 words.

Taking your time to write up an amazing article that is 2,000+ words will always get noticed quicker than a basic 500 word post.  Blog owners know that content is king, and they will usually go with your submission over the others if you have more than triple the average word count for the submissions.

Be known within you niche
This is one of the more difficult things to do because it takes a lot of branding and time.  Getting noticed within your niche will take a lot of blog submissions, interviews, building your website up to be an authority and pretty much anything else that is involved in making an amazing company.

Because of this, you might not be able to use your status in order to get accepted by blogs for guest posting.  This isn't an impossible task, it just takes time!

Always post on your own website and make sure it's high quality content.  People will eventually contact you for guest posts because you're starting to get noticed Guest Blogging 101: How to get your posts accepted

Have a good website with a lot of content on it
When submitting your content for approval, the person reviewing everything will usually check out the websites that they will be linking to.  If you have a super basic website that was just launched yesterday, you can expect to get turned down more often than getting accepted.  This is because blogs and websites want to link to other well designed and trafficked blogs and websites.  Even if you're not getting a ton of traffic, you should at least make your website look great by having a modern design with a good amount of content on it for anyone to read.

Be professional
Being a professional within your field will get you a lot further than being a jerk.  People will want to work with you time and time again if you run your blog or website in a professional manner.  Think of it, would you want to work with someone who is cocky and thinks they know everything, but doesn't really?  Probably not!

Being professional when it comes to your blog or website is good, but being professional in your posts is a little extra thing you can use to get accepted by more blogs.  It doens't hurt your look by being professional, it actually is better for you.

In Conclusion
Getting your guest posts accepted is never an easy thing, but with the 8 points I covered above, at least you have a better fighting chance now Guest Blogging 101: How to get your posts accepted  You'll get rejected more often than you'll get accepted, be ready for that, but don't let it beat you down.  Rejection is a part of life and the most successful people are the ones who got up one extra time.  You could fail 10 times and succeed on your 11th or you could fail 1,000 times and be a millionaire on your 1,001 try.  You never know how long it will take before you start to see your actions breed success, so stick with it and get your guest posts out there on every niche related website and blog Guest Blogging 101: How to get your posts accepted

I think you made some very good points. I think most of us would like to earn some money guest posting and it is important to try to get it done in the way that makes sense to us. I think it is simply important to have some guidelines to use when we do guest posting however.

High quality content is one of the most important things. As a guest poster, if your content is not good enough for the website then it will get rejected straight away. By having poor quality content, there is no way they are going to have your post published on their site.

Quality content is what will get the reader stuck to your blog / website. If the content is weak or poorly written, how it will become something relevant to the point of telling the reader: You have to keep reading this.?

Thanks for the invaluable explanation. Your points all valid. I totally agree you. As a guest writer myself, I believe that to write on another persons blog, the content must be valuable and lengthy too. Most especially, the topic must be on what one is knowledgeable about so as to bring all facts to bare.
It is also of great importance that one writes on a related niche in order to benefit from back links. Remember, content is always king so it must be top- notch.

I'm glad you like my point of views. I always try to do my best. Guest Blogging 101: How to get your posts accepted

Content is always the most important item no matter what the approach of your blog / webiste is. If you don't focus on this aspect, it's very likely that your project fails and ends up dying.

Yes the rejection happens straight away. And they don't even tolerate the new requests either. So it all depends on how the people are posting their content. And how they are managing the acceptance in the blog networks. So it is necessary to have a quality content.

To be frank with the issue of guest blogging, I am hesitant in going to that direction because I agree that good content matters but not as a guest blogger. Take note that the blogger is popular because why would you guest blog for an obscure blogger, right? It is fortunate if you have connections who know the blogger so you can be accepted as guest blogger even just once.

Lots of good suggestions here. Obviously we need to be professional in all of our business dealings, and it is great to optimize our content. However, I think the most important things that you are pointing out here, if you ask me, are the quality of the content and the length of the guest blogging article to display this excellent quality. Providing well-researched and well-written content as a guest blogger really boosts your reputation and respect in your field, and it also boosts the blogger's site you are submitting to, so it turns out to be a true win-win situation for all parties involved, and the audience wins as well because they have come to the right place for quality.

I agree and it also creates a good impression with the owner of the blog. Some people may get offended if you waste their time by trying to submit an article or post that is poorly written and is of a low quality. By submitting a high quality post, you are showing them that you believe they are worth the time spent writing that article and that the blog only deserves high quality content.

All the tips are extremely useful, but I think the High Quality Content option is the most relevant of all of them because without a really good content, (it can be something repeated, but has to be written in a creative, diferente way), the subject won't become relevant to the readers (at least not for the most demanding readers).

I think we can think of content quality as the prime importance topic. You can't really fix things. Lot of people don't write good content and expect things to be changed. And that never happens. So it all comes down to how people manage their website and the traffic. In small enough time it's possible to get site ranked with quality content.

It's normal because it all depends on the way you see things. The aspects of importance vary from person to person, but there is no denying that quality content has to be among the priorities.

You got all the points right. Good content is important. I hate reading blog articles with lots of nonsense rants. I prefer to read those with tips and tricks for solution blogs

My current approach is starting with low end websites. And then taking the efforts to other websites. And slowly get the domain to rank. Once ranked I can make sure to offer some really good service. Though I am not using some of your tips on the site. As this is more of my VA service domain. So that being said, you can build some authority for such type of service based pages using the content marketing too. Some really good tips you have presented. As I have used them. I can vouch for them for sure.

I opened my website for guest bloggers a while ago, but have only ever approved the submissions of one person. There wave been essentially 3 reasons that I have rejected posts... either (1) affiliate links, (2) links for blatantly commercial purposes, or (3) being unable t verify that the writer is not a fake internet persona. I don't mind people linking to their own content... it is one of the benefits of guest blogging... but you do need to link to relevant content.

If your article is of a high quality content, for sure it would be accepted. When I submitted my first article as a guest writer for a blog, it was returned with many corrections plus advice and suggestions on how to write better. It took me some time to get used to the tenor of a blog but once I got the point, it was easier and smooth sailing. Yes, it is the content that matters, it should have substance that can be appreciated by the readers. The proper information written clearly is another point to remember.

It depends. Despite having a good article. Some requirement are going to be different. For example listverse have some specific template. And they require that template style to be followed. And on that basis it'd be reasonable to make the guest blogging work.

Thanks for the tips as usual right on point! I agree with most of them. I, however, don't agree that your content of 2000 plus words will give you an advantage. I know the point is to stand out but, who would want to read a 2000 word article? That's like a mini-dissertation! I would argue against this. Today's culture is very microwave based. People want things instantly. Talking from a readers perspective the shorter the article the better. In my opinion, that's why video content is becoming the in thing. Not many people are readers. Especially with millennials becoming number 1 consumers of content.

First of all, you must be well versed on the subject as this will make it easier to share your ideas. In the past, I have written about topics I am not well versed in and I had to undertake lots of research. This was time-consuming. Creating high-quality content with catchy titles are important. Quality writers have more chances of being hired.

Regardless of the purpose for which you are making guest posts, you must ensure to write quality posts which contains no grammatical errors. The aim of every website owner is to gain traffic since this is the only way to make people see what we have to offer online. Traffic is the ticket to making money online. So, your guest posts may never be approved if they don't meet up with expected standards. For those website owners, this is part of what makes their websites get noticed and ranked in search engines.

I have not done too many guest posts. In fact, I have done guest posts only on one blog. The blog belonged to my virtual friend. She invited me to do guest posts. I think I published 6 posts on her blogs. She gave me backlink to my Amazon books, the backlinks helped me to sell my Amazon books. One of my priorities for 2018 is to do more guest posts and build backlinks to my websites.
