Are Twitter ads worth it?

Hey all,

as the title says, I am curious about Twitter ads. I have been focusing my promotion over there but I have never purchased their ads before. I have only ever used the Facebook ones and I had great success with it since I knew who to target. My blog's traffic increased by A LOT.

So, my question is: are Twitter ads really worth their money? How you personally used them and had success?

Thank you for all your help, it is highly appreciated.

I've actually avoided twitter ads because I've never had much success even posting on twitter lol. The targeting doesn't seem to be on the scale that Facebook has, and that's why I'm usually just publishing and promoting content over there instead of on twitter.

I personally don't think twitter converts as well as other platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. You can get super targeted and increase your ROI much easier by just posting on those platforms compared to twitter. I'm not even a "guru" level Instagramer and I can pull leads from there daily by posting a few times and keeping in touch with all the followers, and non followers, who comment on my posts Are Twitter ads worth it?

But in the end there's no way to know for sure unless you're trying it out Are Twitter ads worth it? If you do try twitter, start slow and don't put all your eggs in the twitter basket which could just be a time suck and also burn through your reserves.

Play it safe, split test everything, kill what doesn't work, and hopefully you profit Are Twitter ads worth it?

Razzy,
Thanks for the post here. I have never used Twitter ads, myself; however, I have had a good deal of success promoting my blogs at Twitter to get traffic to them from my followers and through the use of hashtags and other networking. I can see how Facebook would definitely be considerably more useful, and I use that as well. Tronia, I think that you could generate traffic by using Twitter to promote yourself, but I too am not sure if their ads are really worth the money.

Agreed! When it comes to social media promotion through Twitter. I've always taken the free options of generating traffic. That includes auto-DM's, tweets with hashtags, and mentioning specific people in my tweets. Regarding ads, I honestly don't think you'll achieve the same quality of traffic as you would on Facebook. I say this for a number of reasons. First, I personally find it hard to generate target specific traffic on Twitter. Second, a lot of accounts on Twitter are spam. So in some cases, it's not worth buying ad space for spam accounts anyway. Facebook is a much more controlled social media platform for advertising to genuine accounts.

Jonathan,
Thanks for your response here, and I really appreciate your insight about Twitter regarding spam and ghost accounts. Twitter does connect me to like-minded people and organizations, and then I try to use those connections to entice those people from Twitter to my space online to see what I am doing.

Yeah, I sort of have a similar experience. I do enjoy promoting through Twitter but only through the basic DMing, hashtags, following people, ...

I feel like Facebook is better to specific targeting your audience since there are so many Facebook groups and pages. You can join them and start adding people through there to reach your goal crowd. And Facebook ads have been amazing for me.

Thank you for your advice. I think I will stick to only free Twitter advertising.

Twitter is a good place to advertise your stuff and have a good returns either in traffic or monetary value.the same way you had success with Facebook ads but rest assured that you will get same from twitter.I might be wrong but I think you might get m,ore traffic from twitter than Facebook.I think twitter has very great active members. So go ahead.

I have seen one of my friend making use of the twitter campaign. And for him that is working out. And it seems like a way to get the tweet to the users. And on that account, I'd say it'd be usable. But if you are expecting sales and the promotion and the reach. Then that may not be possible in that context. I'd say if you want to use twitter ads then maybe you can make use of the app install category as that seems to be working well so far for users.

I can not afford Twitter Ads. But I was at a site that used Twitter Ads. Yes! If you can afford it, they are worth it.

I think it depends on your goals too. Some of the twitter ads appear inside the app. And that means they are not limited to twitter only. They can be used inside the apps and websites. So there is a lot to be learned in this case. And on that note I think twitter ads are lot better if they can get the results you need.

Google+ was at one time going to offer network users the ability to change some of their posts into ads. But they had some criteria about your business page (or brand account) had to have a certain number of followers, etc. My business pages never reached the required number of followers, so I forgot about it! I don't hear many people raving about how great these ads are, nevertheless they are still being offered, according to a blog post by Wordstream which was updated in April 2018.

Anyway, the bottom line for me is if I have to choose between Twitter Ads and the GooglePlus Post Ads, I would go with the Twitter Ads.

Google plus is failed social network. And it was not taking traction. Lot of marketers tried to work with the GPlus. But unfortunately facebook won. And so does the twitter. I'd say that networks like GPlus are not converting for people. So there does not seem to be any option than to use FBAds and twitter ads.

Twitter is extremely popular with young people right now so if you are targeting them it's a good place to advertise on. Unfortunately, I'm not aware that much of how the advertising system works with Twitter and if it is as good as Facebooks. Facebook allows you to target a certain demographic and you can even block certain people from certain countries or likes from seeing it. If Twitter allows you to do something similar then I'm sure that the advertisements are worth it because you will be able to target the advertisement at your target market.

I haven't used Twitter ads personally. I rarely go to or use Twitter so not sure it would be an effective strategy for me. I am a bit more active on Facebook so that might be my go to place for ads. I think it is one of the sites that I would use when I want to place paid ads. It is a good and quality location for these ads.

PPC- Pay Per Click programming are always useful for every platform. If you target USA than twitter will show your ad to USA only. If you target keyword fashion- than twitter will show the ad to fashion lovers also. Twitter is the second most popular social media platform in this world. So it will work well for you.

Thanks

Well, smart people prefer twitter,When it comes to social networking, a new study has revealed that Twitter users could well be the smartest of them all.Psychometric testing company One test surveyed 2,851 graduates from around Australia,
exploring the outcomes (life satisfaction, salary and career progression) of people who had entered the workforce between 2002 and 2011, before cross-referencing this data against their social network of
choice.
And the results? While only four percent listed Twitter as their preferred social tool, these respondents had the “highest
cognitive abilities” of users across all the main social channels.
So it depends on your target choice.

My sister uses social media a lot for her local business, so far her best chances are FB and IG, however, she uses Twitter too. So far I know is not her favorite one, but she got a lot of new followers here and there, and those are potential clients. Yes, those ads work, but compared to another sites, this one is not the strongest one, at least for her experience.

For today’s marketers, it is no longer a question ‘why should I use twitter?’ but ‘how can I use it more effectively?’ organic and paid vise. Recent reports show that 66% of social media marketers plan to increase their usage of Twitter. However, only 31% want to increase paid Twitter so, one might say organic is the way to go. But … don’t toss away promoted tweets yet.

They are a great engaging tool one that helped me reach my desired target audience with an ease. But there is more to it than just placing an ad. I've shared my experience here hope you'll find it useful.

To be honest I have never really used Twitter ads. I have been very successful with Facebook ads and this has definitely helped me to grow my business. Before advertising on any social media sites I try to read about all the reviews. Many people have claimed that they prefer to use Facebook ads. I don't even have that much followers on Twitter. So, I prefer to advertise on Facebook as this has worked for me and helped my business to flourish.

Based on the feedback of people who are using ads to promote their business Twitter ads pale in comparison with Facebook Ads. I think the latter is very popular with small businesses because of the affordable budget requirement. I was really surprised to learn that you can get an advertising package for $10 per day which is just fine for small time business people or those who are just starting.
