10 conversion rate optimization tricks to help you make more money

When it comes to conversion rate optimization tricks, there are always sales funnels involved.  If you don't have a sales funnel already in place, you should think about getting one set up because you're already one step behind your competitors.  Some people just call it a funnel while others call it a marketing funnel, but in the end they all do the same thing and that is help make you money.

You probably have seen numerous sales funnels online and you didn't even notice it.  Have you ever seen an eCommerce website or even a blog offer you a discount on their services or products simply by signing up to their newsletter?  Well that's a sales funnel at work and it's one of the best ways to keep bringing in clients 10 conversion rate optimization tricks to help you make more money

What a lot of people don't understand is that people tend not to purchase on their first visit.  If they did, I'd be making 5,000 sales a day from all the unique traffic I was getting across my network and living in a mansion somewhere haha.  The reality is that your traffic will convert at roughly 1 in 100 or even 1 in 250 depending on your niche and what you're offering.  So if you're not trying to convert everyone into a buyer, you're just leaving money on the table, and that's where conversion rate optimization comes into play.

What is your goal exactly?  Well what you should be focus in on is something that will convert just by what it is or what you're doing.  Having a great product or service is the first step in this entire process and the next step is your sales funnel and optimizing it.  It's much easier said than done, but if it were as easy as it sounds, everyone would be doing it :

When it all boils down, you will need a sales funnel and it must be optimized as best as you can in order to keep your profits high as well as your ROI.

10 tips on how to optimize your conversions

1. Figure out what could be better
When you're starting off you won't know exactly what the problem is, but it will show it's face in a short amount of time.  The more traffic you have, the easier it will be to spot.  You need to figure out what problems the consumer is running in to and fix them.  If you don't identify the problem, you're just leaving money on the table.

2. Understanding what your demographic is
There have been countless times when I hear someone say "I have all of this paid traffic but it doesn't convert!" and after doing a quick check to see what they're doing, it usually boils down to the fact that their target demographic is way off.  Think of it this way, if you're selling skateboards but targeting people over the age of 65, do you think you'll sell many?  Probably not lol.  Break it down to their age, gender, income, job title, location, etc.  There are so many things you can do in order to know exactly what the best demographic is and then target them.

3. Have a lead magnet or a loss leader
Did you know that McDonalds actually loses money whenever they sell McNuggets?  They really only have them on the menu for so cheap in order to get the parents to come in and get them for the kids.  After you child is yelling and screaming "I'M HUNGRY!" and you pass a Micky D's, you'll know you can get some nuggets for $3.00 just to shut them up for a little while lol.  But no one ever gets just one 4 piece nugget.  They'll also get a drink for themselves and maybe food for the entire family.  So a loss leader or a lead magnet is good no matter if you have a physical store or an online shop 10 conversion rate optimization tricks to help you make more money  Figure out what you can offer for cheap in order to get someone into your store and they'll usually pick up something extra during their visit.  Now if you're selling information or something that just uses up your time, you're golden!

Think of items like these:  Free checklists, free eBooks, 7 day trial memberships, etc.

I give away checklists all the time for my SEO company.  I actually use a 3rd party service that will run an SEO audit no the website that is entered into my form and it will spit out a 10 page report and a checklist at the bottom.  I've actually had people coming back to me after 3 months when they're done with the checklist and they still need a boost in the rankings.  Luckily for me they just did all their on page optimization and all I have to do now is build some backlinks 10 conversion rate optimization tricks to help you make more money

4. Be clear and make an impact with your headlines
Your headlines are the very first thing people will see when they get to your website.  So this means you need to make it memorable and have an impact on them.  If your headlines are bland, the person will be less likely to convert.  Usually all it takes is a small tweak to your headline to turn from "Eh" to "Wow!".  Address the users problem and show them a possible solution, and in the body of your page you can explain in detail.

5. Edit your sales copy
The sales copy (pitch) on your website is what's going to sell the person a new product or service, not you talking with them via email.  They will only contact you after they've been sold and they want to get in touch with you, usually.  You need to show that you're the solution to the problem and that every person on your website should be purchasing from you and not your competitors.

6. Have your call to action stand out
Is your "BUY NOW" button just some small link under a body of text?  Or is your "Learn More" button hard to find unless I was really looking for it?  These are things you need to think of when working on your call to action.  Make it stand out, and if that means making it bigger and a different color than your overall color scheme, then so be it!

I actually had a client complain because I changed their call to actions button color to bright red when their color scheme was blue/green/white.  They told me they were getting more sales each day, but they didn't like the color of the button and wanted it changed back to blue.  I explained why I changed the color, and they still complained until they stopped getting as many sales and asked me to change it back to red lol.

7. Increasing your traffic by using SEO
Increasing your conversion rates involves SEO, yes it does.  What's better than free traffic to your website that will convert at a higher percentage than most?  Nothing really lol.  Basically you'll have an optimized sales funnel for people who are already interested in your product, do you think that will work well?  YES!

8. Use the word "Free" when you can
When a user sees the word "Free" they're more willing to sign up.  It doesn't matter if it's a free service, free to sign up, free information via newsletters or a 7 day free trial.  If you're using the word "Free" the right way, you'll get more people signing up for your services or newsletters which you can convert later 10 conversion rate optimization tricks to help you make more money

9. Use Testimonials (sometimes)
Now testimonials we all know are amazing to place in front of potential clients.  I like using them most of the time unless I'm using adwords on a specific page.  I recently found out that adwords does not like reviews or testimonials from your clients, even if they are 100% true.  They will suspend your campaign until you remove them, and that is why I will always remove any testimonials on pages where I'm running CPC ads on.

Other than that, using testimonials on your homepage or subpages is a great way to convert people into a sale.  They will see others have left some kind words about your products or services and they will be more willing to open up their checkbooks 10 conversion rate optimization tricks to help you make more money

10. Build up some social proof
Social proof is just as good as testimonials, the only difference is that it's out in the open and easier to find lol.  Simply commenting back when someone makes a post on you social media profiles will help build up your social proof.  If you stay professional even though someone is trying to complain, it will show a lot about your character and people will notice.

If you work on this overtime, you will notice that people will come to your social media profiles and post questions and concerns just because it's an easy outlet for them to do it.  I know of websites who have built a loyal social following on Facebook simply by responding to everyone that comments.  They will try to help as much as possible and people all over the world notice something like that 10 conversion rate optimization tricks to help you make more money

In Conclusion:
Conversion rate optimization isn't the quickest thing to do.  You need some data coming in before you can be sure that you did everything the best you could.  Just remember, your job is never done because you'll always have to be optimizing new pages to increase your sales and getting on social media to talk with potential clients 10 conversion rate optimization tricks to help you make more money

I think those who show the testimonials. They are going to be making the optimized pages lot easier. And considering the way conversion is happening I'd say making money through these options is rather possible that way. I think testimonials can be rotated through the slider on the home pages as well.

I have noticed that another good optimization technique is having the contact form at the bottom. This way people can contact you and get in touch with your services. That's something many people want to be making use of as well. I am sure there are some other options like showing existing customers logo if possible.

Your ten-point guide to improving conversion rate is really useful and informative. My favorites are #2 and #3. Well other points are also good, however, I have used these ideas previously. I know I will have to understand my audience in order to increase sales. Understanding demography will help you improve your sales. For example, I have a lingerie website, a lingerie can be worn by a one-year-old baby as well as 99 years old woman. However, neither one year old will come to my website to buy lingerie nor a 99 years old woman. Most of the o line shoppers are between the age of 18-60. In order to improve sales, I will have to focus on this demography.

Excellent tips. Can use this as a reference checklist. Numbers 7 and 8 are right on the money! Also, Number 4. I have gone back through some of my content and revised the headlines. It does help because it feeds into Number 7, i.e. improving your SEO.

Coming to you first point providing an exceptional service to customers is a must. You must understand their needs and try your best to satisfy them. If this strategy is followed they will keep doing business with you and may refer others to you.

This marketing technique adopted by McDonald's is really good. I actually have an online business and I will have to think how I can actually implement something similar in my business.

In my opinion the most important thing is SEO. I can even go on to say that this is the lifeblood of any business. If done correctly then ultimately you are the one who will benefit. If someone has no SEO experience then it is important than they hire an experienced freelancer.

I agree with the magic of the word free. As the saying goes, the best thing in life is free so people always fall for that word. Maybe it is a phenomenon to see people lining up to a kiosk in the supermarket but it is now common. Product samples are given away in supermarkets here every day, different products from different companies. They never fail to gather people especially the food products with samples to taste. As long as it is free, there will be customers.
