How much is the fair price for writing an article?

In my years of writing in forums and article submissionsites, perhaps some have already remembered my name. This year, I had received
several invitations to write articles on a commission basis. And since I am
comfortable with the theme of the site, I agreed. However, when it comes to
payments, there was no clear amount because the site owner wanted me to name my
price. So now that deal was left hanging in the air because I excused myself
for the moment to get some information. How much should I charge for a
commission article? Is it 1 cent per word or 5 cent per word? I got one
suggestion from a friend to charge 10 cents per word but I guess that’s
excessive already.

To be competitive in this market, it should ideally be 0.01 a word. That's the default rate on Textbroker, I believe. People will only be willing to pay you more if they already know you have a steady stream of work. However, if you are the newbie to a website or to the person handling the commission, I don't think you can justify .05 a word until they see an impressive resume and history from you. In my experience, it helps to build a relationship first, because otherwise, they could find someone willing to do it for cheaper. There will always be someone willing to do it for cheaper. 10 cents is rather excessive, and I agree.

Well, it depends on the level of writing at which you operate at, because you can't expect someone or a client to pay a newbie or someone who is not prolific or commands respect on the niche. Thanks to the popularity of online content-farm websites, "fast" writers are generally in higher demand than "good" writers. Quality writing, however, is rarely accomplished at lightning speeds. In addition, these writing "jobs" usually pay around 2-3 cents per word. How much is your time worth to you? If you wrote the same word 400 hundred times in a row, that effort would still be worth more than $25.
i know people who charge between $.80 cents and $3.25 per word based on how much time they are given to write. That's not an unreasonable fee for someone with decades of experience covering specific industries, and who's written hundreds of articles on specific topics.

This! I completely agree. I don't think that you can set a universal writing price for articles. It's impossible to because not only does it depend on the market's competition, it also depends on other factors such as your own writing experiences, the topics you're asked to write about, and so on. Also, pricing will change throughout the years, months, ...

Just factor in those things I've mentioned and try to approximately calculate how much you should be earning per word or per article. I hope that this helps you How much is the fair price for writing an article?

It really depends on your writing level and what you are comfortable receiving. Some people will not write for less than 5 cents per word, and others write for less than .01. I would try a site like Textbroker and see where they assess your writing level. You may have to start off low, but if you do good work, you can certainly get more money later on down the pike.

How much you charge for writing article depends on how much your client is willing to pay. I have written a 500-word article for just $4, however, I have also received $25 for 500 word article. How much you should charge also depends on your ability to write. If you are writing general article $10 for 500 words (or one cent per word) will be a good payment, however, if you are writing SEO you should charge more than that.

I have worked on sites where the cost of the writing article is 20 cents, 50 cents for 500 words. So it depends on what they want. And it also depends on what and how much you can deliver. You can make some quality content on low cost. But it won't sustain much. So you may have to struggle on that front. And then take things ahead with the fair share of the price. So I think anything above 2$ is a good price.

How much you can charge depends on your expertise and amount of work you have to do. How much you can charge also depends on your location. I have noticed that the writers from Asian and African countries are willing to write a 500-word article for as little as $3. However, I have not found a writer based in the US, Canada, the UK or Australia willing to write for $3.

I think the price should be the one you'll be comfortable with.If you feel a 500 word count for $10 is good enough for you, then fine you outline that. The most important thing is for you to satisfy your client,so that he or she keeps coming back and that way,you would have gain both ways money and a satisfied client that will always call back

augusta,
I like your advice here. Personally, I would like to get more than five bucks for 500 words, but, in this market, clients can get this writing done so cheaply due to all of the competition, so it's hard to ask too much, or to even ask what your writing is worth. I would not go less than this amount, that's for sure, and if the topic of writing required research or a really quick deadline, I would definitely try to negotiate for more pay for my work.

How much to chare also depends on the value of USD in your country. In my home country, $3 equals 103 rupees (today's exchange rate). With this money, I can buy lunch in an average restaurant. If I get $10 for writing 500 words article, I will be able to buy average quality T shirt. So, if I am receiving $10, this is good money. However, for someone in the US $10 can only buy one cup of coffee from Starbucks.

I honestly don't know how much to charge to write a article but I know I wouldn't do it for no less than $2.05 per word. Time is money and it take a lot of time to write a proper article and a I can't see spending 2~5+ hours to write an article for $30. Thats time that can be spent with family, friends, your better half ect.

Time is money. A 500-word article might take 2 hours to write (research, writing, editing). If you receive just $10 for this piece, you are making just $4.5 per hour. If you are receiving just $4.5 per hour, why to work as a writer, you will earn more as a waiter in a restaurant. However, this amount has more value in the developing world. If I make $4.5 per hour, I can buy a dinner in a posh restaurant.

Maybe writing an article for 2 hours is worth $15 that is quite reasonable for me although I know that the standard would depend on the country. I have a freelancer friend who charges $75 for a 2,000-word article that I think is exorbitant although I had wanted to try it for a change because I am more on post forum posting. Writing articles is different because you have to put in a lot of information in what you are writing.

I would tell you it'll depends on the difficulty of the content, also the level of quality in the content. Your level of experience too. If you have a lot of experience you can charge a lot more than if you don't have experice at all.

I think you get what you pay for. A good client will want to pay you what is fair and averagely the market rate. The cheaper the article, the likely the probability that it is poor quality. You should take a number of factors into consideration when setting a rate. The amount of time you spend writing it, the number of words, the complexity of the article and how much research is required.

Don't set a rate that is too low. Please don't charge 5 dollars for a 500-word article. That's a content mill standard. Remember to value yourself. Be fair and aim to retain the client.

How much you should charge depends on how much you have to work. If the article needs a lot of hard work such as doing research, finding facts and figures etc., you will have to charge more than on the articles on general interest. How much you should charge also depends on your skill. If you have above average standards (language and writing skills), you can charge more. How much to charge also depends on your experience.

I don't know much about writing content but the charges of writing are always expensive if you are hiring any content writer. Still a lot of people who always need writing assistance go for the option which gives EduBirdie legit writing and students can easily get legal writing services.
