Do you really think Google favours blogger over wordpress?

Well, as we all know Blogger CMS(Content Management System) is owned by Google, an i was thinking whether they favour blogger over word press, because most sites i have seen on the top rank on almost all my google searches are blogger blogs.

So i was thinking whether they favour blogger because it's their own or for the fact that bloggers blog look simple and they are actually elegant and often the codes are clean and almost perfect for Google crawler, this simplicity allows search engines to navigate through the contents of the blog, accessing and connecting the blog through links on each page.
Therefor, maybe this clean code attributes works in favour of blogger blog as ranking in the first page becomes easier because Google crawler could crawl their blog twice or more per day, compared to WordPress blog.
which on the other hand is prone to various spams, no doubt about that, often search engines flag blog that has spam content on it, making it difficult to rank in search result.

So what do you guys think?

I can't quite say yes or no to this. However, what I do feel when it comes to Google is that they always have their own services in their best interest at heart. So I wouldn't be surprised if using Blogger has a favored advantage in SEO compared to Wordpress. Nevertheless, I'd still go with Wordpress first. Personally, I'm way more familiar with a Wordpress blog compared to Blogger. I also feel you have more capabilities with Wordpress. For example, moving your site to a different platform is way easier with Wordpress. When it comes to Blogger, even after the transfer, data will still be held on Google's server for a while. But it all depends on what you feel comfortable with most.

We may never know the real score because if in case Google is favoring its own affiliate then for sure they will not let the public know about it. I think it is a violation of the anti-trust or maybe the anti-monopoly or whatever law is applicable but for sure it is unethical for Google to do that. Since the algorithm of search engines couldn’t be audited that makes it safe for them to have their biases.

I'm not sure, to be honest. I've never read anything about this before so I doubt Google favours blogger over Wordpress. I'm sure there would be some lawsuits if this was the case because Google would be taking advantage of their position and I'm sure that this is illegal in certain countries. I don't think blogger would give you any search engine optimisation benefits more than Wordpress.

Well, i think they is nothing illegal there, because you can't actually tell someone or dictate to them how to run their business, seriously. if they feel like bouncing all wordpress sites from their google search result, they will do it. and i don't think there is nothing anybody can do about. its their business they run it, anyhow they feel like.

I do think this is true, because a lot of the time whenever I come across free blog site type sites I come across Blogger sites a lot more than I do Wordpress. Of course, this is obviously just anecdotal evidence and is hardly scientific, but I have to think that it would be normal for them to favor their own product over others. Maybe I'm just not noticing it whenever I land on Wordpress sites, though, since a lot of the time they can just be disguised to look like regular sites, but as far as free sites left as is, I come across Blogspot sites a lot more than I do Wordpress ones, definitely.

Exactly my thoughts, experts say that blog look simple and they are actually elegant and often the codes are clean and almost perfect for Google crawler, this simplicity allows search engines to navigate through the contents of the blog, accessing and connecting the blog through links on each page.
But well, if i was Google, i will favor my own too.

I don't think there is any favor option from google. It just chooses one site over another based on page SEO. And some of the time they prefer based on content. But the thing is that SEO is purposefully garbaged industry. And people are given lot of tangents to think over. In reality google chooeses content and keyword relevancy. That's why wordpress, joomla, blogger doesn't matter for them.

Absolutely not. Google has a search engine that works fairly for everybody as far as blogs are concerned. If you want to get found and you want to accuse Google of favoritism you might be able to successfully argue that point when it comes to having a Google Plus account.

I have done organic searches for certain topics and found my G+ posts on page one of the search results. I rarely find direct links to my blog posts (my blogs are on Blogspot and Wordpress) or my article on page one of the search results, and it's the same post or article! The only difference is that I shared the URL link via my Google Plus profile or page!

I'm not complaining. I'm just saying that I happen to notice it. I suppose you could call that playing favorites. Do you really think Google favours blogger over wordpress?

Well, first time I'm hearing about the google+ favor from google search engine, do you have any prove or fact to back up your claim.
And you can't rule out the claim of google favoring blogger over word-press, because you can't really back it up with evidence, so it remains an uncertainty and something to ponder on. because we can't really say.

I have noticed that too, most blogs on the first page of Google search is mostly bloggers.I have two blogs on bloggers and so far,I have not encounter any problem though a free domain.Blogger is simple to operate and the themes are quite attractive. So you can go ahead with bloggers but I don't think google favors blogger more than WordPress

Yeah, that's what am talking about, it's simple to operate and user friendly, with the codes elegant , simple and devoid of too many plugins, which makes google's crawler easy to penetrate. and crawl without too many hitches and hence the higher ranking unlike the counter part. but well, they are all cool

I do think Google favors Blogger as it seems to easily support that platform. I think it is a good fit with google products, and they do seem to favor it. It is an interesting question though and certainly something worth discussing. When I had a very active blog I was on page 1 of google, and I don't think I would have been with Wordpress.

I do believe that Google has preference for Blogger over WordPress. That's because I also notice more blogs hosted with blogger on the front page of the Google search engine as compared to blogs hosted with WordPress.

Same goes with Google + and Facebook. Posts in Google + appear on Google searches while Facebook posts seldom appear.

Because of this, I maintain some blogs on blogger and manage to publish a few posts there. I use them primarily for back links to my sites. This is also the reason why I still maintain my Google + account. Haha!

I don't think google favors blogger users over that of WordPress. Google is a business so I don't think they'll trade their integrity model over favorism.

Some might argue that blogger blogs always appear fitst on front pages of search before others. It's only normal for it to appear that way because blogger is a part of Google which means that google products will always show up first due to its algorithms. Same goes with other engines too. If WordPress had a search engine, am certain it will be the same.

Obviously Google will give prior things to Blogger than Wordpress because it is sponsored by them.
But if you want to control everything on your blog, then go with Wordpress with self hosting. That's better option!

Let’s admit the fact that Blogger and Wordpress are in direct competition. And although Wordpress is leading the race, Blogger cannot be left behind simply because it is owned by Google. And with the mention of ownership, it is only logical for the owner to give preference to his ward. That’s why most bloggers I know are staying put with Blogger because they earn good and they are afraid that their earnings will be affected if they will shift their allegiance to Word press. Yeah, I believe that Google is favoring Blogger over the other platforms.

If Google favored blogger blogs, they no longer do.

I've had a number of blogs on Google's blogger for the past two years and I didn't seem to get much organic traffic from any of the search engines. IMO, Google and other search engines will rank your site lower maybe because they believe these free blogs will not have that much quality content posted on them.
