Do computer glasses work?

I was thinking of getting computer glasses as I've been suffering from quite a lot of eye strains recently. I usually end up feeling nauseous with a minor headache, and suddenly feel great relief whenever I close my eyes. I've been looking in online shops and some of them have a yellowish tint, while some do not. Does the tint make any difference? Do computer glasses actually work for you, or is it a waste of money?

A friend actually bought one of those last month from amazon, and according to him, it was just perfect for what he needed it for. It was able to stop the computer screen brightness from affecting his eye, according to him it was like he wasnt looking at his display screen but yet seeing all that was going on in it. I think i will also be getting mine.

Yeah I recommend you get one too. It is nice to have one as it protects your eyes from excess glares your computer emits.

Good computer glasses are a nice investment for your health.

I believe it works because my friend has one and she doesn't complain about eye strain like I do and I'm even playing to get one from online.

it not easy putting one eyes on the screen all the time. The eyes need a protective gear.

I would recommend you to pay attention buying this kind of glasses. Usually you just go online, search for a good price, and that's it. I did it that way and seriously didn't see any difference with a regular pair of common glasses. Then my eye doctor told me you have to buy good ones, with filter approved. Otherwise, you will be expending money without result. Check out the model and proper considerations when buying them to avoid getting regular ones.

If you spend long hours in front of a computer, you may want to get computer glasses, whether or not you have to wear corrective lenses. Computer Vision Syndrome can cause a multitude of symptoms, leading to loss of productivity. CVS can cause headaches, blurred vision, neck and shoulder pain, loss of focus, tired, burning eyes, and double vision.

Yes it can really bring in the head aches and lead to cut in productive time. Anybody who stays long hours on the computer should definately get 1. And you also use them for some serious gaming too.

Wow, thanks harmony for this informative post. This explains a lot of why I'm having neck and shoulder pains, as well as constantly losing focus and feeling fatigued. I'll definitely get one now, might have a check up too just in case.

My roommate bought a pair of computer glasses because he works on a computer all day and then wants to play games when he gets home. They look just like ordinary glasses, so you'd never know they were for the computer. He says they work well and that his eyes don't feel as exhausted after work. Not to mention his girlfriend thinks they look adorable on him (he has perfect vision, so doesn't need regular glasses), which would be a plus in my book.

That's great then! I too have perfect vision, but it just hurts sometimes after being on the computer for long periods of time. I've also always wanted to wear glasses anyways since it suits me well, but I didn't want to get one for no actual purpose, I guess in a way, thank God I have a purpose now lmao

You should go see a eye doctor and get your eyes checked to see what would work best for you.

Computer glasses differ from regular glasses in that they are specifically made to help reduce the eye strain associated with computer work.
No one enjoys eyestrain, blurred vision, or constant computer -related headaches. Glare reduction, an increase in contrast, and being able to look at the screen for longer periods of time are benefits that come with computer glasses.
Yes at work for me because: computer glasses promote clearer vision, which reduces the need to strain your back and neck.

I actually never used any computer glasses because whenever I sit in front of my PC or work online I always use my own glasses. My eye sight is weak since I was a kid so it doesn't affect that much to me, maybe by specs helps me to reflect that UV rays from PC. Obviously, if we don't take some break and do continuously work in front of PC then we will gonna face some serious headache and eye strain issues.

If you are on computers for hours, then yes those glasses tend to work out for you. And in such cases you can reduce the radiation coming from the screen. I have seen that some of the people who choose to ignore that. I am thinking that such glasses needs to be used. And that's another way for someone to help their eyes keep stay healthy. You can also blink every 10 minutes that should help too.

Well, I never had any problems and I do stay in the front of my PC for hours. But my son did and I had to buy him such glasses and I must say that is really working and I don't regret that I have bought it. The specialist who recommended to buy it told me that this glasses will reduce glare, increase contrast, and maximize what you see through the lenses, making it easier to look at a screen for longer periods of time.
If you have problems I recommend you to buy ones, you will have no regrets!

That's amazing Wallet, thanks for your input! Did you get your son the tinted ones, or the ones that look like normal glasses? I still have no clue what's the difference in both really, but hey as long as it works! Will definitely order one for my own today, thanks again!

Whether or not computer glasses will be worth it and work for you is subjective, because factors include your visual abilities and computer usage, work environmental conditions, and your viewing habits.

My eyes sometimes get a little tired when I have worked on the computer for a long period of time but I don't think I need computer glasses. It is just another thing to buy. However, if I feel like I am suffering unecessarily from eye strain I might consider getting some of these. It might be a good idea.

If you use a computer for multiple hours during the day (say it's part of your job to use a computer) a good computer glasses would be a great investment.

Remember that it is YOUR eyes we are talking about here. Take good care of it especially if it is something crucial to your work.

Really the best I know of this protective computer glass was in highscool computer science classes. When we were told that spending hours with the computer could be unhealthy to our eyes. I don't understand it then but just learnt practically because I spent at least 9 hours on screen each day. So I have to get the protective screen and I can assure you it works. And it's not a waste of money because it worth it.

I honestly haven't tried buying computer glasses before but I do use the normal glasses.. so not sure how that would work unless you can get them with dioptry? However, I have previously tried this computer software that adjusts the lighting of the screen so it matches the area that you're in. It really helps with the straining of the eyes and the general tiredness.

It definitely depends on the person and what is causing your issues/how much time you are spending working at computers, but I do know that they have worked in the past for someone I know. It's always worth a shot if it's causing problems for your experience with working on computers. Best of luck!

They aren't a waste of money. They work. They are anti glare glasses meant to reduce the glare and brightness, which strain and stress your eye. There is also an app f.lux, search for it and download to your computer. It works by reducing and adjusting the brightness of your screen. Good luck

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

airfightermax
I have f.lux on my computer and they are guaranteed to work.

When I first used it U thought it was weird since it just changed the tint of my computer. But then I got used to it and when I tried to use a computer without it, I can't stand the glare. F.lux works and once you start using it, you'll never go back.

Yes! My dad has been using it for quite awhile now and I think he is alright with it. You should get one for yourself but see your Doctor first.

I have never tried one before but after reading through the comments, this is definitely something that I would need to get. I spend a lot of time glued to my computer screen and even though I have the brightness down to the bare minimum, I still feel like my eyes are tired after a while especially in the evening.

I would see an eye doctor for a quick checkup before I get a pair. They sound pretty safe and cool though but just to verify that you don't have any underlying issues as they say the natural lens in your eyes tend to slowly deteriorate, you should visit your eye doctor. I gather this is even worse when your eyes are under constant stress from frequent computer use. Perhaps even just to give the eye doctor a call and ask a question. I think I'll take a closer look at computer glasses. I don't have any issues, at least not that I can identify with at this moment but you know what they say, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

Computer glasses will make you some trouble. Its an additional screen or glass for you. It will take huge time to get compatible with you for your work on computer. But it will not become a waste of money.

Thanks

My personal opinion: I didn't see any difference between a regular pair of glasses and these ones. I've been using glasses since I was a kid, so I've used a lot of different designs, materials, weight, since the 80's. This computer glasses are supposed to have some kind of coating, like an anti-reflective one, but seriously I still have eye strain. Someone told me that maybe, this is due to he fact that I have some "generic" glasses, and I'm supposed to have computer glasses by prescription, or specially made for me. Unfortunately, those are super expensive for me, but I guess if anyone has the chance to buy those, should have better results.

Oh Sorry for you Bellyhara hope you can get them some day because they are really helpful especialy if you already have a genetic eyes problems then you might need your Doctor to prescribe them to you and make them compatible with your other problem just like you said and if they Are too expensive then maybe you need to apply for more jobs online and be able to afford it unless if you don't spend much time on a computer, In short my answer is yes computer glasses are helpful for those who spend quality time using computer.

Computer glasses are definitely necessary. I got my first computer glass when I started having so much issues with my eyes. In fact I spend the majority of my time working in front of the computer. At a certain point of time I was having itchy and red eyes. I thought that it was just minor irritation and I bought some OTC eyes drops. It temporarily helped to solve the problem. Then I realized that whatever I was experiencing was due to my tired eyes. It is then that I got a computer glass.

To be honest, I personally have no idea whether they work or not. I always thought they were a bit of a gimmick, just another thing made up to make money, but apparently a lot of people feel that they actually help. I suppose it may be a placebo but I guess you can't really placebo your way out of strained eyes and poor vision. Apparently many versions have anti-reflective coatings that reduce glare from light coming off the device, as well as color tinting which improves screen contrast making it easier on your eyes. If they work as advertised, I'm sure they're incredibly helpful. I should take the risk and buy a pair, given I work long hours on my computer.

I would like to test them, because I also spend many hours in front of the computer daily and suffer with irritations in the eyes and sometimes headache. So maybe these glasses are the solution to my problems.

Well, I've heard mixed reviews on computer glasses. For some, they say computer glasses work wonders. While others seem to have zero to no effect on the overall eye strain experienced from computer use. Personally, I've never tried them. Mainly because I've learned to minimize my eye strain through consistent periodic breaks. As far as computer glasses with yellow tint compared to those without, I can't quite confirm nor bust this. Nevertheless, it's worth a shot if you're really experiencing bad problems with eye strain.

Computer glasses work and it is one my roommate then in the university always use to make sure that he works nicely on his laptop during his project evaluation days. I think the first thing to do anyway is to reduce the light effects on your system for that is the most common causes of eyes strain while working on a computer.

You might want to visit a doctor because if you're being nauseous and dizzy, there might be more to it than just eye strain. However, eye glasses really work wonders but you will also adjust for the first time of using it.

I think they work relatively well. Though, using computers less might be better. We have to know when to stop using gadgets. But most of us can't avoid that due to modern needs. So it really requires a conscious effort to improve your condition.

I do have one for gaming but stopped using it when I'm writing because what I have are the anti glare ones with tint and sometimes when I wear it late at night I get sleepy.

I hope so. Its called computer glasses for the purpose of protecting our eyes from the radiation of computers. If I have one I will also readily use it. The problem is don't have money to buy. I have not seen one yet. I think its just like eye glasses.

If this computer glasses is the one being advertised to protect your eyes from the glare of the computer monitor then I guess it will work if the said glasses that you buy is authentic. In the olden days there was the monitor filter that is sold at a high price but people are buying because the monitor filter is a kind of glass that looks tinted and claimed to protect you against radiation. Maybe this computer glasses works the same for your eyes. But you probably have to consult an optometrist before buying just to be sure.

I believe computer glasses work. Before I started using it, I frequently had a lot migraines and eye strains. After buying a prescribed anti-radiation glasses from a specialist, I noticed a significant decrease in headaches and eye strains. Most of my colleagues are also using it whenever we work on our laptops so I believe it works given that many people are already using it.
