Are targeted advertisements always beneficial?

Services like Google Adwords and Facebook Ads offer us the chance to target our advertisements at a specific user base. You can target people that are in certain countries, that have certain interests or are a certain age. This makes it a lot cheaper and makes your advertisement a lot more efficient as it is not wasted on people that may not be interested in your product. But is this actually beneficial? What about potential customers that are outside of your target market? Could you be damaging your potential sales by only targeting a certain customer demographic? It may be better to just use mass advertising as you may be able to get some sales from customers who you may not have thought would have bought your product. What do you guys think?

This scenario can go both ways. You can end up running into people that wouldn't have been bothered to buy your product in the first place and seeing your ad on a website that is unrelated to your business might tick them off. In turn, they could talk to their friends who could talk to their buddies. I think you know where this could go. At the end of the day, you don't want to spend too much on advertising. Even Facebook, for example, will calculate a number of people that you actually have the potential to reach. We don't have that service outside of Facebook, so you have to use good old-fashioned wisdom.

It will help because no matter how or where you put your advertisements, it will still be helpful because it will reach your potential buyers. A person who is active on facebook have seen your ad, he may nit be your direct buyer, but with repition of seeing the ad it will make an impression to that person. Example, the ad is about rubber sealant for roofs. He lives in a condo so there's no way he will be needing that. Then a friend tell a story about his roof is leaking, because the ad was already imprinted on our guys brain, it is the first thing that he will recommend. Hence a chain of consumer will start.

I have found that as long as you are targeting to the paying crowd, any thing that you market to is always good. You just have to understand that it can be good experience in that context. So depending on how you target, things can be lot different. You have to learn to use these things. That's how I have seen it and may change accordingly. You just have to deal with any bad response your ads may get just in case if experiment fails in PPC network.

The best marketing approach is a targeted advertisement or should I say an advertisement geared towards the target prospects. For example, in selling beauty products, focus your marketing on women whether young or old. Some would say that men also buy beauty products but it's not the right target. But with online business, it is easier to hit our target prospects because of the social media. I regularly receive ads via private message mostly of women's products. But you have to exert effort and be somewhat relentless in your marketing campaign.

I have never used Google Adword, however, I have used Facebook Ads. When I created ad campaigns on facebook, I targeted to a certain location and demography. sadly, the conversion was not as expected. I tried to sell Amazon book through targeted facebook ads, but I could not sell many. In fact, I spent more on ads than I actually earned from the sales. I learned a lesson, targeted ads are not always better.

Hi Darth yes I think that targeted advertisements are always beneficial because using targeted advertising, you can convert shoppers into becoming regular shoppers at your store or business, instead of getting them inside to buy one thing as they did. With consumers satisfied in not knowing how much companies know about them, advertisers can take complete advantage of the system where every user can be specifically targeted and analyzed by new computers and software.

I think targeting your advertisement is like limiting yourself, even if targeting certain age and gender ... might be cheap but remember, when you choose to limit other from accessing your advertisement you have your reasons for example if you have a bleaching skin product to sell you won't target white people right? you will target black people so that's one simple example, and that can save your ad from getting in wrong people who won't even buy it.

I think it only works when you have a sound knowledge of keywords and SEO. We all know that PPC campaigns like Google Adwords, Bing Ads, and Facebook advertising are very good with targeted audiences, and it works perfectly for most of the affiliate marketers too. You just need to find a good few keyword for your niche to advertise it and bring traffic to your content from PCC ad campaigns.

I would take the side that agrees with the notion that they are almost always beneficial. The fact just is that while there are a lot of products out there that might appeal to just about anyone, there are also products which only a certain demographic would ever buy. Which form of marketing you choose is going to depend on that. For example, you wouldn't target anime figurines to a general audience. Collectors of anime figures are such a small demographic in the ocean of consumers, that you're guaranteed to benefit from directly marketing the product. Plain clothing on the other hand? That can appeal to anyone, so there is no point in directing advertising.

You should always use targeting when running your ads, forget about all those you might not be reaching, as long as you do your research and target the right audience, it can make all the difference in the success of your campaigns. Think of it would you rather sell to a lot of people who might or might not be interested in your products and services, or would you rather sell to a smaller group with money in hand and ready to buy.

I agree with what you say about a small group that has a higher probability of success than targeting a large group with stray bullets. I think they call that shotgun approach where you advertise with no specific audience in mind. For me, I would be content in promoting my business to 10 people who would surely respond favorably than promoting it to 100 people with no idea of the chances of response. Knowing your audience is definitely important when it comes to marketing.

you can also use advertisement platforms like www.cutezapads.com/advertisers which i highly recommend if you want something that is much more cheaper but with the results you're seeking for. I have been using cutezapads for my online promotion and it really works well for me. More to that it's at a lower rate for the same keywords compared to google adwords

Hi there
Thanks for nice query and explanation. Yes in your explanation has both parts potentiality about benefit or damage by targeting user or country. As my think, this option really good for who thinking getting traffic by specifically for certain age or country. For example: If your business mainly based on your country, not for international, you must to target traffic or customer for your own nation only. Here international traffic valueless for you. In this sense, most importance to set any campaign by targeting. Now come to say as age restriction, I want to say, if your product for adult, you must campaign by age retraction. is not it? So, it is really work for targeted base adverting on Social network or other platform.

On the other hand, some time it may lost your potential customer. For example, if you restrict by male or female or age or country. Some responsive always out of their and some customer too.

The targeted advertisement is just the way to go if one really need to get the targeted audience, one needs to create awareness in such a way that the message of the adverts gets assimilated by the people it needs to get to.Targeting the right audiences entails using the right tools, person, song, mannerism, and appropriate age.If an ad is targeting kids of course using a child could drive home the message and maybe advertising in schools and where one can meet children would do the magic.
