    5 of the biggest mistakes a blogger can make

    When it comes to blogging, there are always huge mistakes that one can do that will have a negative affect on everything.  New bloggers usually don't realize they are doing, or not doing, some of these things and it will actually hold them back or harm their site in the long run.  I've been blogging for years and I've been at fault with a few of the points I'm going to cover below.  I'm not perfect, and no blogger is, but with this list you can make yourself a better blogger and please yourself as well as everyone on your pages 5 of the biggest mistakes a blogger can make

    Below are 5 of the biggest mistakes a blogger can make when blogging

    1. Not posting enough in a month -  This is a common thing that harms bloggers all over the world.  If a blog isn't staying active with a few posts a week, Google will deem your pages as inactive since they won't be seeing loads of fresh content coming through your website for it's viewers.  If your blog becomes inactive, or seen as so, you will just have to get to work and start posting again.  If you're using WordPress you can just schedule your post to come out when you want.  Simply write up 10 articles that are a decent length and have one post every 3 days.  This is plenty of fresh content in order to keep your website active in the eyes of Google 5 of the biggest mistakes a blogger can make

    2. Scheduling your posts wrong - I haven't heard of this too often because scheduling your posts is pretty self explanatory.  There are a few of us out there that have done it wrong by accident and scheduled 10 posts to go out on the same day when we meant to have them go out slowly throughout 30 days.  Scheduling 10 posts to go out on the same day isnt' the problem.  The problem is that you'll have 10 going out at once and then the rest of the month your blog becomes stagnant.  Having a stagnant blog is like a death sentence in the rankings lol.

    3. Not writing quality content - If you're writing content that seems like a 5 year old was on your computer, you may want to stop posting for yourself.  You don't want a bunch of grammatical errors riddled throughout your blog posts because it will ruin your reputation.  Google wants to see good content that is also unique because that is what they will refer their searchers to.  If your content is garbage, you won't be blessed with search engine traffic for long lol.

    4. Not writing long enough posts - Back in 2001 you could write something that was 200 to 400 words and have it rank well because you optimized your titles, descriptions and keyword density.  Not you shouldn't think a blog post below 500 words is going to be successful.  I mean can you really get the proper information to your viewers within 500 words?  Probably not lol.  Don't focus on your word count, focus on getting your point across while being as detailed as possible.  I mean look at this post, it's not even that detailed but it's going to be well above 500 words lol.

    5. Inconsistent to your niche - This is a killing blow because if Google can't figure out what your niche is, how do you think other people will?  If you're posting about pregnancy one week and then the newest tech wave for aircraft the next, your niche will be unknown and your traffic won't know what the hell is going on.  Stick with a niche and write about it, don't wander off to topics you like in other niches and think it's ok to write about just because you can.  If you want to write about pregnancy, then start a blog for it.  If you want to write about tech, then start a blog for it.  Get it?  You need to be niche specific when blogging so that your viewers will read through more than just one post 5 of the biggest mistakes a blogger can make



    In Conclusion:
    The 5 biggest mistakes when it comes to blogging can actually be avoided pretty easily if you just think.  Posting content regularly that is high quality, niche specific and a decent length will always help you be a successful blogger.  Avoid these 5 big blogging mistakes so that you don't waste your time online.

    Great content. Some bloggers do not post fresh and consistent content n their blog and also they do not write quality content and so they can not get enough traffic to their blog so always try to write fresh and unique content.

    I don't really agree with "you need to post at least a few times a week" idea. Google indeed values an active blog, but above all, it values good content. If you post new articles every two weeks for a period of a few month, Google will learn your pattern and will still see you as active!

    I generally write on topics feel passionate about or I feel like I have something to contribute. I never write for the sake of creating content so that Google will see me as active. If you take this approach you are going to lose the user in the process and once you lost the user, you will lose Google also.

    The rest of your tips are spot on! Especially number 3.

    Well stated, I believe that if we really want to reach our targeted audiences then we should choose a niche we are comfortable with and stick with it.No need cramping all niches together.We will be mixing things up and even our monetization module would suffer because targeted ads might not really show up on our blog.

    Well, for me I write more of medium size post because people get easily turn off with a long post.So a post of about 500-600 word counts should be okay.

    Those are good tips. I know of several blogs that had such a huge potential of becoming big and getting crazy amounts of traffic but they didn't post enough of content so people got bored with waiting and went to other similar options. It is a shame because blogging can be very profitable if done correctly. I think that if you are seriously considering blogging, you should always research the most common mistakes so you can learn from them and not repeat any. If I can add one more common mistake - not using images. Pictures attract people. Use them to catch the reader's attention and to make sure it will imprint into their brain. Utilise images to your own advantage.

    I agree that you should be active when it comes to blogging, but if you build an audience that is going to come back to your blog every now and than to check out if you have posted anything, than your schedule doesn't have to be set. Even better, because not everyday you might have enough inspiration to write something decent. Rather write when you feel like writing.

    Content quality is important as well, indeed. Depending on sort of a blog you are going to run, you will want to either keep it unique each time or if you are concentrating more on researching certain stuff, research it to the very roots.

    In my opinion, one of the main mistakes committed by a blogger is not having a niche. They write and publish everything in the same blog. You can find how to parent a kid as well as how to sell ebooks in the same blog. You cannot attract all kinds of readers on the same blog, you need to have a niche.
    Another mistake is having too many ads. One of the motive of being a blogger is to make money. However, you want money does not mean you have to clutter your blog with too many ads.

    Depending on how good blogger you are, and how good your content is, niche doesn't always have to be the most important thing. As for the ads, you have to play it smart. The most annoying thing is having popup ads. Nobody likes those. Second thing is playing smart with ads. You could potentially have more ads, but you should think about their placement. If they appeared all over your blog, first it wouldn't be a nice sight, second it might be too flashy, and once again, annoying. You could easily just put all the ads on bottom.

    I agree with Razzy. We should have enough content on our blog. It is good to write the quality posts for our blog. There must be a schedule for posting as loyal visitors are always waiting for the updates on the same time. There should be enough content in each of the blog post.

I need a plan to help me to do so, especially post consistently. I have read that consistency is important to keep our readers to stay with us too. I am happy to learn so much from you all.

    I think I have made every mistake a blogger could make. I made myself a serial pain on forums a serial pain in blog comments, paid money to dodgy websites to improve my seo. It took a while to sink in but good old fashion hard work and dedication to the subject is without a doubt the most successful strategy. My daughter was born in a small village in Papua New Guinea. I wanted her to know as much as possible about her home village. I created a blog and religiously posted as much useful and relevant content as possible. When promoting the blog I kept to the rule of keeping content relevant to the subject matter. It took a few years of patience but over time I was able to attract a great dedicated audience and getting regular payments from Google Adsense.

    You really have to love what you do and this will reflect in your work and the amount of visitors that you attract.

    I thought about starting my personal blogg but Due to the lack of time I keep postponing it, So I think Bloggers with those mistakes should Close their bloggs and say good byes to blogging after all no one will keep his interest in posts that come once in three months!! Or once in a Month it's a bit too much:-(

    I agree with everything you have pointed out. You need to have passion for the subject you are promoting. I spent many years wasting time on sites I could not relate to on a personal level. When I started writing about subjects close to my heart I did not need to promote as much as the other sites as my content was relevant and share between friends of the reader.

    I think the most important thing is your content and your targeted audience. It is necessary to do research before posting. If you are writing a quality post then it will be a post with enough length too. You should not count the numbers of words you wrote. You should consider that you have to write all the information that a visitor does need and exclude that is not important.

    Wow these are some really amazing tips and it's really good to know exactly what not to do! I had a blog a couple of years ago. My blog didn't do so bad and I did get a lot of traffic but I know of a lot of mistakes I made that you listed below. I did post all random kinds of stuff, I spent months creating this really good looking blog with a lot of great content but one week I would talk about gender equality and the next week about coding in C++ and so on and so forth. after a year I took the time to go through all the content on my blog and even I got confused. I even had a couple of instances where I would have a post about something like sexuality or then a post wherein I give a simple programming tutorial for beginners and some of the people the for instance go to my site for the programming tips would be offended by some of my other posts like my one post about sexuality. So I now know the importance of separating your niches into deferent blogs.
    I actually ended up closing the blog and reflecting upon my previous approach and when I start my new blog/blogs I will sure work according to these guide lines.

    Congratulations on the post I really liked and I also agree with what was said.
    I think not making these 5 mistakes is already a big step to succeed in a blog. Of course other factors will influence your success, but I think the main thing is always to produce quality content, post regularly (I think you do not have maximum or minimum number of posts) and also interact with your audience, listen to what people have to say and never leave them unanswered.

    Very interesting this post!

    I think the lack of frequency and poor quality in articles are the main mistakes made by many bloggers, especially by the newbies.

    I see many cases of people who start a blog, full of enthusiasm, invest in a good layout, but simply do not create quality content or simply create content infrequently and even discourage.

    I believe a blog sucesses do with planning. So to avoid committing the mistakes mentioned above, I think it is critical if you plan. Investing time for creating content, good images, being original and having a good posting frequency are the most important factors.

    - Some bloggers don't have a specific niche. They remedy their posts about various topics by tagging or categorizing and then creating a specfic page link to posts that touch on that subject. Do you disagree with that approach?

    I'm definitely guilty of a couple of these. I know I don't post as often as I should but I have a nasty habit of getting distracted by all sorts of other things and not getting the real work done. And I just checked the length of my last post - just under 250 words! There really was nothing more to say for that one. Most of my posts are longer though.

    I guess I'll have to work on posting more often, but does it matter if the occasional post is shorter than 500 words?

    Your Point 4 is a point that drives me bonkers! There are online writing sites that that allow short posts and I've earned at those sites. There are others that want longer more detailed articles and I've earned at those sites. However, when it comes to my own blogs, Point 5 is probably my biggest mistake because they are not devoted to a specific niche. They address a wide range of topics – society and culture, entertainment, opinion pieces, home business advice, etc. Although I'm not convinced that it's a mistake.     You consistently have awesome posts here, and I always leave with useful pointers from you about how to do all things online. I especially left with a lot of food for thought about blog content, blog quality, and writing for my "niche", as you put it. I do have a bit of an audience, luckily, and learning to find a balance between my own preference for content and the content my audience is hungry for is my ultimate goal for longevity in this market.

    Being active is what holds me from putting out with my own blog. I have been writing articles piece by piece from time to time as if it is an investment. So that when I start my blog, I will have a stock of supplies. I don’t think I have an issue with quality because I have a great improvement in my writing since I started learning when I first joined forums in 2014. My main concern in blogging is the substance. No matter how well it is written but if the blog have no substance then it would not be interesting at all.
