    how did you know your website backlinks were broken?

    It is common that nowadays, the majority of your purchased backlinks package from SEO, doc submission, article submission, social bookmarking and so on will randomly be removed or disappear.

    The question as per topic.
    Do you check after a few days, weeks or months to find that links you purchased via an SEO link building package are suddenly dead and gone?

    You can use tools like screaming frog to check the status for outbound links you may have and find the 404 ones. There lso specialized tools that can check your backlinks on a daily basis, informing you when a backlink ia dead or gone, you can then contact the buyer and ask him to replace that specifc link.

    Ahrefs would help you to do that, but it's very expensive.

    It will not have a notification when your backlinks are removed on targeted sites but you can follow these with some tools as Ahrefs, semrush, google webmaster tools...etc, just check link to your website area and if you don't see any links there then they could be removed from websites.

    I guess you will never know when your backlink is removed from a site because you will not be informed and with the myriads of backlinks that you had spread around the internet, I don’t think you can know about the backlinks be they broken or not. My take on that is to just spread more backlinks instead of trying to check on the broken backlinks. The effort you put in to check will be more beneficial if you use the time in posting more backlinks.
