    Everyone starts working online to become successful, and some of us eventually do. But when you come back after being successful to post about your journey, it could backfire on you and make you not want to come back to the discussion or forum. Now you're probably asking "Why do you think it could backfire?" well, let's go over that Posting success stories can backfire - this is why.


    Your Success!
    It's awesome that you've made a bunch of money online, or even enough to just pay your bills. Whatever you think is enough money for you to be successful is up to you, no one else. If you made an extra $150 and think you're successful online, you are. If you think making $15,000 extra a month isn't success just yet, then keep pushing! No one can really tell you if you're successful or not, it's up to you to determine that. I do have to stress that you should keep your day job until you start making more online than at your 9 to 5.

    Why can it backfire?
    It can backfire easily because of trolls mainly. Trolls are mythical beasts who want you to answer a riddle in order to cross their bridge and they're also people online who just want to anger you for no reason because they're j*ck*sses. Now you will always deal with trolls when working online, but you'll learn to deal with them by ignoring them completely. By ignoring a troll you actually anger them which is pretty great.

    Another reason it could backfire is because people will see your success and then want you to divulge all of your information so that they can do the same thing. Some of these people will genuinely just want to make some money online and not realize they are just asking your for your entire blueprint for success. So when you deny to divulge all of your information they become angered and start saying you're a fake and you're just trying to collect emails or make more sales blah blah blah lol. If you're successful and you want to share, go for it, but don't share your methods or even your niche. If you're selling anime watches then you can just tell someone you're selling electronics at a higher price than you get them and you also have upsells in place to make more at checkout. If they can't get the idea after that bit of information, then they don't have an original thought in their head to make it on their own.

    What if I share all my info?
    Well if you decide to take pity on someone who claims they are just starting out and need some help making money and you share your entire method.... You're just creating competition for yourself and in the end they could be taking money out of your pocket. You were the nice one but they didn't want to target a different niche since they knew you were already successful in yours. People online will stab you in the back and not think twice about it, so if you do share a method, do NOT share your niche or products with them.

I want everyone to make a sh*t ton of money and take pictures of themselves on vacation with a sign saying "Thanks Razzy!" lmao Posting success stories can backfire - this is why. If you want to share your story, try to give enough so people get the idea, but don't share too much because you'll just create competition. If your story backfires because of unintelligent people who just want to be spoon fed a method, just ignore them and carry on with your life Posting success stories can backfire - this is why.

    This is so on point Razzy! Especially in faceless forums where you cannot identify who is who. I am amazed at the kind of personal and financial information that people share about their business. You can share advice and knowledge in general about how to improve your services (the more you share, the more you gain), but there should be a balance or a point at which we know when to stop.

    Exactly, forums where there is no proper registration or alike are full of trolls. My cousin had to learn that in the worst way. In fact, one of his more beloved followers-subscribers, took his information, personal one, and use it against him. Eventually he had to shut down that site, denounce the event, do some legal actions, and it was all because of the lot of information he shared.

    You are absolutely right. We can share about our successes but we cannot give out too much information. As it is we usually work hard to achieve something and we do want others to succeed too but they must try to do certain things on their own. You must also be cautious when you mention about your future plans as others may try steal your ideas.

    I use my real name and real location in the virtual world. I use real identity because I want people to see me as a real human, I want people to know the real person. However, I am against giving too much information. I have also observed that if you share your success story, you are likely to attract trolls. Trolls usually hate successful people.

    I think you should share your success because it encourages people, especially people who are starting out or are having a hard time.I think you can find a way of doing this, that does not reveal too much of our identity or that doesn't allow someone to bully you or ruin your reputation. You need to be very careful online, people can make your life hell. You need to learn to protect yourself.

    Pardon me for this contrasting comment but it depends on how you write your success story that it can backfire to your purpose. If you are bragging then maybe some readers will be annoyed and may post a nasty comment. But if your success story is written in a way that imparts information and the presentation is clearly to inspire the readers then I think that is a good one and no worries for backfiring.

    I appreciate that you shared this story to show the other side of the coin. Who would thought that some things which seem so great can get worst. It only means that we always have to take precaution in everything that we do especially in dealing with the online community because people can hide under the anonymity of the internet.

    There will always be vile people lurking around waiting for the opportunity. It's good that you mention this in order for us to be mindful of the information we share.
