My 10 Holy Commandments for Using Pinterest For Business Properly

My 10 Holy Commandments for Using Pinterest For Business Properly???
I love Pinterest. I'm not afraid to say it. It's my favorite social media photo sharing site. Every time you hit upon Pinterest you're guaranteed a visually pleasing experience each time. And if you like Window Shopping like I do then it's basically just eye candy and gives you a eyegasm lol. But other than that side of it, I use Pinterest for coming up with ideas and inspiration for so many things. And it's not just about cup cakes, handbags and shoes. Pinterest has a large male following too. All ages and sexes use Pinterest regularly to get their daily fix or for ideas and pinspiration!

So whether you're starting out on Pinterest for the first time altogether, or have already been making use of it in your Social Media Marketing strategy. These 10 Holy Commandments for Using Pinterest For Business Properly will get you off in the right direction all the way up to the top of the success ladder!

1. Thou Shalt Plan For Thy Pinning Success
Make sure to set up your account properly and in full too. Fill in all the fields in your settings page. Be sure to link your official website to your Pinterest account. And make sure to fully integrate Pinterest into your website/blog and other social media platforms. Place the Pin it and Follow me buttons on your site/blog and other social media pages.

Check out your competitors Pinterest profiles and boards. Research to see what kinds of things they are pinning and to where. Be sure to create some boards that match your site/blogs categories or even your product categories and pin those things to it that your ideal, targeted audience and clients want to see!

2. Ye Shalt Honour Thy Original Source
Don't get caught out poaching images that you aren't the original owner of. And never pin an image without being copyright savvy. Always read the terms and conditions before pinning. Click the image before repinning it to check that the source of the pin is legit. Some people change the source of the original image and that's not fair or not cool. Don't ever do that. And if possible, add a watermark to your own images to preserve their integrity and minimum source changers.

3. Thou Shalt Pin Strategically
Always pin images across all of your boards don't just focus on one too much. Always follow, follow, follow, pin, repin, comment, like and rinse and repeat. Like an image you just repinned? Follow whoever pinned it. Did you pin it because you liked it? Then comment on it to let them know. Comments on Pinterest can carry a lot of weight and can lead to you getting more followers, likes and awareness of Pinterest.

Do you sell products? You can and should create a price banner for them. Just add the price like $14.99 to your description and that way people will be able to see how much it costs before they even click on it. That can actually increase sales as well since people already know it's that price and don't usually click on it unless they want to buy it! Oh and always space your pins out throughout the day. Don't ever pin dump (pinning all your images at once).

4. Thou Shalt Always Be Sociable
The more sociable you are on Pinterest, the more success you'll see. The more friends you'll make. The more followers you'll earn, the more repins and likes your pins will get. Always try to comment on the pins you like (it makes sense to do that). And @Tag other pinners by their names in your comments. They will like and remember that and reward you for it.

You can track your repins that are coming from your own site using the URL pinterest.com/source/seocheckout.com (replace seocheckout.com with your domain). And if you get any repins of your pins, always say thank you for that if you can. Again this is a good time to use the @Tag in your thank you comment.

5. Thou Shalt Produce Visually Pleasing Content
Always use the highest quality images on your blog that will be shared/pinned to Pinterest. And pin different image types too. Not just photos but images, infographics, charts, product images, video etc etc. And make good use of image creation tools like Instagram, Pixlr, Pinstamatic if you struggle with creating great pinnable images. Just remember to keep it simple, use only clear, visual, engaging images and photos and text.

Talking of using Infographics, they get gobbled up on Pinterest! Try using Canva or one of these Top 5 Free Infographic Creation Sites to make them as they can really really help get your business known about if they are half good and informative / interesting.

I really need to start getting into pinterest because I'm about to launch a physical product and I'm sure it would do well on there. The beauty of my product is that it will target the vast majority of people online who own a specific thing at home, which most do muahahahaha!!!!

Anyway, thanks for the 10 5 Commandments ;)

I agree with your Pinterest commandments. I will give more focus on sharing visually pleasing content. Pinterest is image sharing pinboard-style social media site. There is no room for text contents. Since you share images, your images must be visually pleasing.
My pinterest strategy is having at least three images in my content and pinning each of these images. This is likely to increase visibility of my Pins three times. Pinning at different times of the day also works

I have been reading a lot of discussions about repinning. That it’s not a simple repinning similar to retweeting because you have to be discerning with the pins that you will repin. And I agree that you have to be sociable since you are in the social media. Interaction is the name of the game and the more connections you can have, the better for your brand because getting reactions to your posts will be easier.
