Christmas. - Like any other day.

Christmas. - Like any other day.

Hello freelancers & Merry Christmas!

Christmas is a wonderful time, and most people I know are celebrating Christmas like a bunch of crazy people. Literally.

Personally, even though I love Christmas, I don't actually celebrate it too much. Most due to some personal things, but also due to my freelancing career. I never quit. I work 7 days a week. And I usually don't have a day off because of Holidays. - Even though I should.

I'm just curious to know. How many of you are working during Christmas?
- And, have you notified your clients or potential clients, that you won't work on Christmas, if you don't do it? - Or do you just take for granted that you won't get any orders during this holiday?

- How did you notify your clients or potential clients about it?

Best Regards,

For me, there seems to be so much stress during the holidays. You have to get presents ready, because god forbid if you do not have any presents. If you are going away for the big holiday, you have to pack, get the house ready, because it is a mess of all the present wrapping. You have to make sure you have your presents, and if needed you could go out to the stores and be part of the 'last minute' christmas shopping.

So yeah, Christmas for me is like any other day, just loads more stress, and spending money on presents..

I hear you Everett. Christmas involves tons of stress and pressure. - It's crazy, but it's also quite fun to watch. As I don't really celebrate Christmas the same way as others do, I can see how much the pressure effects people around me. Some of my friends are actually getting sick due to all the stress before Christmas. They can sleep properly and literally everything is a huge mess for them. They can't find "that perfect gift" or they don't have enough money to do this or that.. And that's a huge obstacle for many of them. - Nah, I'd rather relax and do my thing, just like I've been doing the other 360 days that year. But I do celebrate New Years Eve.

This is a great topic Andre. Christmas was really huge for me when I was a kid, but then when I grew up yes it is about seeing family but it wasn't really so important anymore. It was just like any other day except that the family got together for lunch.

And then I had children... suddenly Christmas is all special again, I love the way my kids get so excited. It is the biggest day of the year for them Christmas. - Like any other day.

So yes there was no working yesterday for me because I had so much to do with the family.

There is nothing much special happened except the fact that I got a holiday!

I took a day off during Christmas but I was on my phone managing correspondence and I made sure that I will meet all my deadlines the day before so I don't go behind just because I took a day off. I don't want to miss deadlines because of this but I do need a rest.

I don't see anything different on Christmas day for it is just like any other day that we can wake up and start doing what we want. I think the difference has arisen simply because of the much vibe that comes with the celebration that day. I feel nothing on that day and can work online if there is a need for that.

I think working all the time has reduced my zeal towards celebrating the festivals. I want to give some time to myself. And see how the things go. But so far not much working in those days. I think christmas can be fun when the family is around. And you're meeting your friends and other people. That can surely bring some fun in your life. So it just does not end up being just another day in your life. That's what I have learned over a period of time.

As a freelancer, I did some work last Christmas day since I don't want to lose the opportunity to earn. That is one issue in freelancing that we have to face - working on holidays. That includes vacation days which I have already experienced. In one thread, the topic was about a lazy freelancer. That cannot be because you have to be very industrious in order to be a successful freelancer.
