Need help with new chat site. Need more chat room chatters - traffic - & website development

How can I optimize my chat website for search engine traffic? And, if you would tell me what type of digital or print marketing that I should be doing. Is there a way to attract traffic/users via forums or even offline? I need to know.

I would think that one of the most important things that you will need to do is actually hire people to chat for you. Nobody likes talking to an empty void right?

Yes you can market via social networks. via forums and all of that but activity will encourage activity. Imagine you send out a message on social media and someone goes there and there is absolutely nothing going on?

So I would say hire some people to chat so that when your online marketing efforts start paying off the people that join up are encouraged to take part.

Yeah I know when I started a forum on one of my websites it was so hard, I had to hire people to chat a bit in the forum so that there was some action going on Need help with new chat site. Need more chat room chatters - traffic - & website development

I've never really been to chat rooms so I am not sure how they differ to forums but I would think that concept would be the same.

Lynne gave you a really good advice. You'll need activity. It's vital for something like this.
That's the real reason for all the "I will do 15 forum posts for you" type of services too. Activity.

When it comes to the advertising, to bring in people, I guess it depends on what your site is about. What kind of chat it is.

You can always advertise a business or a website offline. (Flyers and business cards for instance.) But, take Seocheckout as an example. I wouldn't go to a mall and give away business cards with a Seocheckout logo on it, if that was the only way I did advertising. As Seocheckout is a marketplace for SEO related services, I would focus on online advertising. (Which is exactly what Ionicware are doing). - However, one thing don't necessarily have to rule out the other.

The only thing a forum needs is content and an active user base. You can't and won't have that with a brand new forum. Forums are usually a pain in the but to build up but once the community establishes you got yourself a content machine that runs by itself. You just need to moderate it and filter the type of content you don't want or isn't high quality enough.

As the other said, hiring paid posters is very good for fresh forums, if you have the right budget and also invest in attracting real users by doing PPC campaigns, I'm pretty sure you will have the chance to build your own community in no time.

This reminds me of a revised forum that was the result of an exodus when the owners quarreled. That revised forum started with 6 active members that make at least 5 new threads in a day and they tried hard to interact. Little by little, the old members came back until the forum became normal again in terms of membership and activity after a month. With your chat site, I think you can make it easier if you have people doing the same thing – posting to give a semblance of activity and hopefully your chat site will catch fire soon.

Every forum needs active participants I believe you have gotten good advice from Lynne who suggested hiring people to start up the site. Another way of getting people interested and making them return is to make a sort of competition or reward system. Maybe a prize for the most active participant in a month or prize for the most active thread. This will make people more active and will make them advertise their threads to family and friends to participate
