If someone steals your service description, what should you do?

If someone steals your service description and posts it for sale, what would you do? Will you let it go and sell the same service or ask them to remove it or just report it?

You can submit it to the support team and they will take the proper actions if needed. If it's a random occurance where the person just has a very similar description, then nothing will happen because it's not a duplicate.

If you go ahead and contact the seller and ask them to change it, they can just ignore you and go about their day and make sales. The people in charge of the service monitoring will have to evaluate everything and it's up to them whether the seller be contacted and asked to change the description or if the service and seller should be removed completely from the marketplace. But banning people is never a fun thing because those people are more likely to leave a review online, a negative one, instead of the people who have had a positive experience.

I don't really see a big problem with this. Sure they copied your description, but what is stopping you from tweaking your description and making it better than it previously was? Most people in the world don't understand how to write fluently in English and that's where the copied descriptions come from. They know what they're doing when it comes to the service, but they can't explain their service well enough to get the point across and that means they have to find a top seller with a similar service and they will just copy and paste the description.

From your point of view it looks like they are just trying to steal your sales, and they may be trying to do that, but usually it's just because the seller doesn't know the English language and can't post an accurate description.

In the end, Report the service and let the Seocheckout team know exactly why you reported it. After that it's out of your hands and they can take over to figure out what needs to be done.

Thanks,

Razzy

I remember back in the early days of SC, A LOT of people used to copy my description! Now things are way more "unique" but there are still people copying the main description text, just to change a couple of things.

I even found my description texts on other marketplaces, it's just crazy! Oh yeah, and most services copied are for "content writing" imagine how good those contact writers are if they can't create 150 words about their own services!
So yeah, basically I don nothing, they aren't worth my time in any way.

Haha oh the irony of that!

Actually I have come across that myself before, people that are doing a copywriting job but they are just copy pasting. Can you imagine how bad that is for their business. I find it quite amusing, but in a very sad, sick sort of way.

This happened to me twice for sure. I just cannot stand it because apart from being unethical, it is also a clear evidence that this particular seller cannot be trusted. If he is so lazy as to not even write his own description, how cannot he offer a reliable service? You should report him/her so that admin will take care of it and remove it. Once a seller did not only copy my description but even the picture, and so it could have been very misleading to buyers who may have thought they were buying from me as usual.

If it truly is an exact copy paste duplicate of your service then I would contact that seller and ask them to remove it and not to do that again. I would also contact support and let them know because that is not something that should be done here. Surely anyone working in the line of SEO should know very well that copying and pasting other content (whether it be in a service description or not) is just not ok?

I wouldn't want to involve myself in such issues where I will be having disputes with someone as a result of who own s a service description or not. I mean that I am going to let that go instead of having to seek a better judgement.
