Best Local Marketing Tips for a new website?

Ok so I know exactly what my next website is going to be and it is not only going to be local but it is going to be focused on a few towns in a very specific area.

Can you please share with me all the steps needed for local SEO marketing?

Yes I know about adding Google My Business...

What exactly is meant by local citations? Are these just online business listings with your area/ address showing?

Everything Razzy and Mike said plus keywords. Do a massive research on local related keywords that have included the name of the town or region or any other local sign.

Create you whole content around these keywords, make sure you don't over-optimize and once you start ranking find on-page ways of improving your ranks by constantly improving your content. Also, promote those link with different link building techniques until you are number one. You need to transform yourself into a local authority on that specific subject.

Thanks Cristian, I have an idea on how to create new content with keywords for the area but I am not sure if it will work.

I need to spend some time thinking about this and possibly even bring in someone in the area into it too.

Local business citations are where you get your business info, and hopefully a link, on websites that are like directories or review sites.

Some of the bigger ones are Yelp, yellowpages, citypages, superpages, etc.

You'll need basic info in order to list your business on these. If I can remember correctly you will need an address (you can use a P.O. box), business name (no one checks validity of this), phone number, email, website and a short description (optimize your description). I don't think all of those are required, but they will definitely help out in the long run Best Local Marketing Tips for a new website?

Whenever I'm building citations, or outsourcing it, I'll get around 150 of them done and after each one is live I will take that URL and put it into a .txt file. When they're all finished I will then buy a service here on Seocheckout that allows unlimited keywords and URLs and I'll link to all the citation pages. Even though there aren't a bunch of links on your citation pages, or any at all, doing SEO for them is beneficial for your business name in the SERPs.

For the citations I normally use this service: https://www.seocheckout.com/Link-B...-OR-TOP-65-CA-OR

When the citations are done, I would use this service to build links to them: https://www.seocheckout.com/Link-Building/264762/GSA-SER-30-Days-Link-Building-Campaign-Full-Setup-Run-and-Maintanance

Now the GSA service isn't available right now, so if you can find something that does what that service includes, you'll be all good Best Local Marketing Tips for a new website?

You don't have to worry about your citation pages getting a penalty because it's not likely to happen. If it does happen, it's not your website Best Local Marketing Tips for a new website?

Thanks for this information Razzy ok, so a citation is just a listing in a business directory... right so I really appreciate those links to the services you recommend especially since it appears you aren't always keen to share your suppliers LOL.

Just one problem, I am in South Africa and that citation service does not include my country but I will contact the seller and make an enquiry Best Local Marketing Tips for a new website?

Pardon me for asking about local marketing because I may be wrong in my understanding that you are doing marketing to people who are in your country or your town. For a new website I guess you can start by the poster in your neighborhood if your business is for public consumption. I would probably opt for offline marketing because it is more precise in terms of the target market.
