Doing online marketing directed towards millennials?

They may be young and they may just have a couple of experience but in about 10 years Millennials will become the majority of the workforce. Any long term thinking online marketer must develop a plan and a strategy for when that happens.

How do you sell to Millennials?

Doing online marketing directed towards millennials?

Millennials are a very video-visual generation so you aren't going to get to them with classic flyers, radio ads or even TV ads.
But you'll do get their attention with the following:

  • Online videos
  • Online video streaming
  • Gifs, webm and anything other visual stuff that tells a story
  • Social networks like Snapchat and Instagram

By the way, I'm a Millennial myself, I was born in 1988. What do you think about ?Millennials as buyers? How do you target them?

I fall in the overlapped section. I was born in 1984 but some people say that I could still be considered Generation X and not a Millennial. I always thought I was generation X until I read this post and looked up the timelines of what the generations were named lol Doing online marketing directed towards millennials?

If you can advertise to millennials then you would need to have the perfect product that would go viral with them. Maybe this is why Get Rich Quick schemes are around still... lol I joke! kind of. Millenials pretty much want everything handed to them, at least the majority do. I've met some millenials that actually bust their butts to get what they want and recently I was talking to one who quit his job because he had to clean the floors at the end of the day.... yeah, he quit because he had to do something he didn't want to lol.

Funny videos would probably be the best way to get millenials to sign up or buy from you. That's because they see this all the time and are the main people who push memes. A great video would be something like a person acting out memes and trying to get it to go viral. If the video goes viral and is linked back to your service and/or website then you could make a fortune Doing online marketing directed towards millennials? Just imagine if you had a subscription service that targeted millennials and it did well. You could get them all sharing your service and signing up Doing online marketing directed towards millennials?

If you can afford to advertise on instagram and snapchat, you can probably get a few sign ups. But their rates are pretty high and will kill a small budget in no time Doing online marketing directed towards millennials?

Oh wow, like Razzy I also had to look up the timeline and it turns out that I technically fall into Millennials too. I was born in 1979 and according to what I just read Millennials (or Generation Y) starts from 1977. I feel more like Generation X though...

Yes I agree that videos and visuals are the way to go with Millennials. I myself prefer reading over seeing images and videos, if there is a video and I like what I am reading I might check out the video. Although if it is a how to then I prefer a video! This makes me Generation X in my eyes.

I wonder what will be the marketing of the future with Generation Z? It will certainly be interesting to try and guess! My kids are more technologically advanced than I was at 18 and they are 2 and 4 years old.

I don't think you are really a Millennial Lynne. Most studies put Millennials as people born after 1980. You are close, but I think you are Generation X, believe me that you may have nothing related to kids born after 1990.

Oh cool, the information I found on Google was people born from 1977 onwards were Millennial babies Doing online marketing directed towards millennials? I feel a lot more comfortable being a Generation X.

Yes, some studies say 1977 onwards but 1980 makes more sense.
I also don't feel like a Millennial. Growing up in the 90s in Romania was very similar what people in western countries experience 10-15 prior (Generation X).

So even though I'm a Millennial, I think I have a lot of marketing triggers of Generation X.

Marketing to the different age groups never really changes. The marketing message is adjusted to accommodate more current topics. Use of demographic's have been used for decades to successfully market to different age groups. Demographics can tell you when people are going to buy a snack food, to a house or a car and much more. The young people are now the usual target of businesses. One example is the Lotte Young Plaza in Seoul, South Korea. We were there earlier this month and that mall with 8 stories, I think, is dedicated to the so called Millennials. The stores inside sell clothing, footwear, accessories and other personal items intended for the younger generation only so seniors like me should not go there for it’s a waste of time.

I would use fast paced videos and a cool tune to market my products and services to millennials. Like you said millennials are more visual, fashion and tech savvy than any other generation.
