Well amazon doesn't give a flat 4% commission. It really depends on what section of amazon you're trying to market. Some sections offer up to a 10% commission.

You can also check out walmarts affiliate program. They give you 4% as well but I'm sure after you send enough sales they will increase your commissions slightly. They also give you an API access if needed as well as an easy to use Wordpress plugin to help populate your website with their products. After you apply it usually takes 24 hours to get confirmed or denied into the program. Be sure to have a website up and running already before you apply. This will increase the chances of you getting accepted into their affiliate system.

It that doesn't please you, you can always go over to ebay and check out their affiliate system. You'll get paid 40% to 80% of whatever ebay makes off of the sale. Now that doesn't mean if an item sells for $150 you'll get $60 to $120 of that sale. It means that if Ebay makes $15 off of a sale, you'll get $6 to $13 of that profit.

Most affiliate programs where you're getting commissions on physical products you won't see a super high commission like if you were to sell a digital product. With a digital product there's no shipping and handling or manufacturing thousands of books. You write up one book or course and that's it, an affiliate will get a higher commission because it's easier to handle than a physical product.

4% to 10% is pretty typical when you're looking for a website to be an affiliate for like amazon.com, ebay.com and walmart.com

If you find anything that gives you a higher commission, please share is there any alternative to amazon affiliate program

Amazon starts you off on 4% but if you make more sales the next commission amount is 6% and you can earn more than 6% too.

It all depends on the type of product and the amount of sales you make each month.

I have just signed up recently with eBay Partner Network too but I have not started promoting any of their products,it looks like Mike has some great advice and insight into how eBay works. I only signed up this week but haven't even had a look into how the commission works. I only ordered some products that I am keen to start promoting. I just wanted to buy them first to see how they look and so that I can do some Youtube review videos on the products and I want to show the products in the video.

Thanks for the Walmrt suggestion Razzy, I'll check them out next!

Hey Lynne, have you had any decent success with the amazon affiliate program? I bet your mommy blog qualifies on a lot of amazon related products and you can adapt a good number of content and articles in that direction.

Hi Cristian

The difficulty is that my mommy blog is very much South African traffic and a lot of the Amazon products aren't being shipped to my country which is a royal pain in the ass. I have sold a few eBooks via my addiction blog. My mommy blog I promote a lot of things from South African stores and I've sold a few things.

eBay is actually more South African friendly when it comes to shipping here.

I have had to do a log of adapting to change my baby store to a blog and I feel like I am only just starting to find my feet is there any alternative to amazon affiliate program

Oh cool. Maybe you can try with other similar amazon related online store that are popular in South Africa and not popular world wide.

For example, in my area, amazon is not that popular, we have other online stores, I'm also thinking about signing up for one of these stores and their affiliate programs. But I really need to gather a lot more information before doing such a step.

There are many alternatives to Amazon affiliate program. In fact there are affiliate networks considered better than Amazon. Clickbank is said to be better than Amazon. However, I have not tried clickbank because it is not available in my location. I do affiliate marketing for Amazon as well as Commission Junction and Linkshare. You can try these affiliate networks.
