How to start and build a large Facebook Group?

This question was inspired by another discussion here. Can anyone give me tips and ideas on how to start and build really large and active Facebook groups?

Yes I have a few groups but they are not very large or very busy either. I would love to build some really large groups in different niches and then use them to post my content to so that I make easier sales because I can pin my content.

Yes I know nothing is easy and doing something like this will take some hard work, but that is just fine I am happy to put the work in if I know if will be worthwhile in the long run.

Think about a niche where no trace of "business" will enter user's minds. Because as soon as the get a sniff of bullcrap and marketing, you are doomed.

As far as I can see facebook groups that are still active or that are newly created, have all spontaneity borne out of a certain necessity to discuss a certain topic or to interact on certain services.
So my suggesting is to make it look all natural at first, don't force any marketing techniques until a solid community is built.

I do have large Facebook groups both the one I started and those I just joined. I think it still boils down to content. if your content is useful or your niche is what people loves it will attract more people to join.So it good to advertise the group link on forums, blogs and other groups that relate to your group niche.People of the same interest will likely join.

I had been invited to several Facebook groups but I joined in only one group that is interesting to me. That means having many friends is not a guarantee that your group is easy to populate. My take in creating a group is to have the support of 5 or more friends who will help in inviting members to the new group. You cannot rely on walk ins. You have to exert effort to make your group grow. Of course, interesting posts is a must.

The basic way to go about this is to start talking with your friends on facebook on your desire to run a Facebook group. I mean that it is going to ensure that they understand that you really them to help you achieve that goal.

Yes, it is easier to build a group when you have friends helping you with it. Start by each of you inviting 10 friends and those 10 will also invite 10 each. That's clearly a hundred already. But you have to make them understand what the group is all about and they have to fully agree for them to work for the goal.

Create a group and add your friends as members. Ask the members to add other members. Add at least 6 people as moderators. Share quality contents, as the members to share quality contents. get engazed on the posts, encourage the members to engage on the posts. If you set the privacy as open, your group will attract spammers, therefore, make it private. Share about your groups on various groups. Cross sharing is also very important.
Creating a group is easy, building members is little hard, even harder is making your group kicking and alive.

I think creating a group in Facebook and getting members is like driving traffic to your website you need skill and strategy. I also don't think inviting only your friends will do the trick. Make sure your group has a good purpose, i.e that it actually helps people. You need to advertise your group. The same way you advertise your websites e.g on forums, you-tube e.t.c I've seen people offering help on forums and Youtube and then after their content is accessed urging people to join their Facebook group.

The key thing for a Facebook group is that it is has to have a subject or goal there is demand for, and it has to have a name with the important keywords. If you have that and a handful of launch members to create activity, the group will build itself.
