Hey there everyone!

I recently had a client hire me to optimize their YouTube videos, which I thought was second nature, but I guess not.

Well, their lack of knowledge lead me to write this up for everyone 10 YouTube Marketing Tips and Tricks

It basically covers a few things that I did with their videos in order to help them get natural views, likes, comments, shares, etc.

Enjoy! 10 YouTube Marketing Tips and Tricks

1. Optimization: First off you should always start with the tool directly available to you through Youtube. Now I'm not talking about advertising, I'm more referring to your titles, descriptions and keywords that are specific to your video. Do the proper on page optimization of your video and it will go a long way.

2. Call To Action: Get people to click, like, rate and comment by using call to actions (links) in your video or descriptions. You can pull people pretty easily to your website with a well placed link.

3. Friends and Family: One way to get your initial boost is to advertise your new video to your friends, family, colleagues and customers/clients. I don't normally do this, but for a new YouTuber this might be the best way to get a few views and likes on the video.

4. Get Social: Take advantage of Facebook, Google+, Pinterest and Instagram. Make business profiles on those platforms and be active. You can pull traffic to your YouTube video this way and the people clicking through are already interested so they'll probably like and/or post a positive comment.

5. Your Website: Add your YouTube video to your website. Even if you only get a few visitors a day, week or month it's still a good idea to have it on there.

6. Newsletters: If you have a newsletter already going out to your clients, friends, colleagues, etc. Be sure to add the URL of your new YouTube video for them to check out. Bigger lists will obviously show better results, but you never know who will share you links if they see it in an email.

7. Get Indexed: By getting your channel, and videos, indexed in the search engines you'll be increasing the chances of obtaining views, likes, comments and shares.

8. Printed Material: If you own your own company and you have printed material for it, be sure to add your YouTube channel URL on the documents so people can check it out. You won't see a huge ROI on this, but it will help a little. And since the URL of your YouTube channel doesn't take up much space, it will be easy to add to all your documentation.

9. Paid Traffic: Try out PPC (pay per click) advertising through Google, Yahoo!, Bing and Facebook. These platforms, especially Adwords (Google), can bring in loads of traffic in a short period of time. And if you're not in a difficult niche, you can pay much less per click.

10. Hiring Someone: If you have the funding, try hiring a good marketing company to help you advertise all your videos and tweak the on page optimization of the videos in order to get the best outcome. Hire them for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and see if they will help you out with your YouTube videos. Doing it this way should save you a few bucks.

Totally agree with you anwebservices. Those were great points Razzy and I do hope that those who do not make good use of YouTube will be enlightened by this post as it is a really an untapped resource to get a lot of traffic. Many seem to forget about the impact videos can have and end up focusing solely on written content, and that is a pity, because in reality most people prefer to watch a short video than reading an article. Ranking well in YouTube should be one of the main goals.

Really great information Razzy, Thanks!
But having a website may not be a good idea. I'm a real big youtube fan and I'm subscribed to a lot of popular Youtubers and I've seen this time and time again: they start a website but eventually fail to earn money out of them because people are not interested in websites, they want video content.

Anyways just an idea, maybe it is more important for Youtubers to create video content and focus on that instead on turning their energy on something that has a low chance of success.

Mainly the website would be to generate a sale or two from people clicking through from YouTube. But the main reason for a website to put your videos on would be to target different keywords 10 YouTube Marketing Tips and Tricks

You can rank your video for keywords that aren't in the title or description because you can type up whatever you want on your website 10 YouTube Marketing Tips and Tricks

The page itself will rank, not the video. But that's the beauty of this because you can pull people from different traffic sources and get them to your YouTube video where they will watch, give you a thumbs up or possibly become a follower 10 YouTube Marketing Tips and Tricks

Yea you are definitely opening your variety of clientele when working from a web site then having to actually work with you tube directly , I see what you are saying but before any of that goes down I do recommend getting your tube really established and making sure that you have a good amount of subscribers and people following you before you move you work on to a different platform so that you feel some what secure then start the website take over by taking advantage of pulling people from different traffic sources and bringing them back to your page

You do have a point Cristian to simply just up and convert from you tube to a web site is sort of a back step in a way especially if your video numbers are looking consistent and good , using you tube and running a website are two different things things one of those things has a lot more responsibility then the other to be honest you tube is the more people friendly option and I can also agree with what you said about people wanting to watch videos we are in a visual age were most people just don't take the time to read

Bring it on Razzy! That is great advice and I am making use of almost all of those except paid traffic, printed material and hiring someone. I don't make use of any printed material so this would be a bit of a waste for me I think. Hiring someone? Well people ask me how to optimize Youtube videos so I think I am doing a pretty good job on my own.

I am going to get into paid traffic again soon and I am really looking forward to seeing how that affects my Youtube channel traffic and subscribers rate.

Oh and Razzy here is a great one to add... one on one contact. I have gotten quite a lot of views from people I meet on a day to day basis. I've had people ask what I do and I always add in that I do Youtube and people usually find this interesting and very often look me up and then engage with me on Youtube.

Don't underestimate the marketing you can do just talking to people and slipping in bits and pieces here and there.

Hey Lynne you are going to have to let me know how the paid traffic goes for you , personally I would hold off on getting any paid traffic just cause you do not want to risk distorting your you tube numbers you know it could raise flags when people see an over night success it raises questions not saying that you are doing anything wrong but I think there are still plenty of other forms of marketing to get your traffic to where you actually want it to be before having to spend unnecessary money and anything that saves money I'm on board with

I agree man optimization is key and the way razzy goes in to explaining it makes it loud and clear, before even publishing your video you have to make sure everything is how it needs to be and every thing is in order publishing your video wrong could result in huge set backs as far as how your video will be searched found etc to avoid that I recommend to make sure you thoroughly double check every thing in optimization after of course taking razzys great advice and doing what you have to in making sure your video is taken care of

I agree that optimization will definitely give your Youtube video the means of gaining more traffic. In our experience, the keyword has been a big help with the traffic since Youtube watchers are now used to searching for videos. For example when you want to listen to the songs of 1980s then search it and Youtube will give you a list of videos. And if your video falls under that classification with the right keyword then your video will be displayed there for the benefit of the searcher.

I like how you mentioned to get social, yes razzy man there are too many people that only do half of the math what I mean by this is that they will put so much time and effort in to perfecting there craft , great video, optimization all that good stuff but then after they that they just sit on it really no moves being made they are letting the video take care of it self and that is not how it should be get social get out there and shove your video down every ones throats lol so to speak
