I had a guy that went to my school that at 14 created a childs game on the app store which became very popular from which he got a lot of money. I think growing up with the computer skills most teenagers have it's very easy for somebody young to be successful.

Becoming successful online takes time. Statisticly it's extremely difficult to design that million dollar app or website. There are millions of websites, but I bet you can only list 100 or so off the top of you head How old you need to be to become successful entrepreneur? Well, you might actually only be able to do 25-30 because that's how rare it is to have a website achieve greatness. Now I'm not saying you can't strike it rich online, but making $150,000 a year is nothing compared to the websites that are making a few billion a year. Becoming successful online basically depends on your goals. Do you want to make enough money in order to pay your bills and not have to worry about spending $750 on something you don't need? Do you want to buy a ten million dollar house and own a bugatti? These two goals are extremely far apart, and both can be achieved depending on what you design, produce, make, etc. Something you think is great might not be a hit for anyone else and it could just flop. You have to do research on your target market and understand what you're doing, for the most part, in order to strike it rich much quicker. If you're just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, you'll waste a ton of money and probably go broke before you can launch all of your ideas. Start with the ideas that you're almost certain will make some money and then boostrap it.

Partnering up will also help you succeed online. I personally have partnered with a few web designers since I can't do any of that on my own. I'm a great marketer so we compliment each others skills very well How old you need to be to become successful entrepreneur?

Hey anwebservices,
Great infographic and good information!

There's a saying for things like this.. "Age is just a number" or something, and it's true. You could be 60 or 13. That won't matter, as long as you have real goals to strive for.

With that being said, I do understand people who's having second thoughts about becoming independent freelancers at the age of 30+. Mostly because it's around that time people are getting married, get kids and drive a Volvo. A dog and a house is also common. The real "svensson liv" as we call it in Swedish. Which basically means, "a normal yet boring life that "everyone" has.

If you know what you want, go get it. You won't get it otherwise.

Best Regards,
hitmeasap

Generally speaking, there is no relationship between age and business. You can be a successful entrepreneur at the age of 18 or 69. It is better to start early though because time is money so if you do everything early, you will have a higher chance of becoming successful as it takes time for your business to grow. The thing is that age doesn't stop anyone from starting their own business. Therefore older people can start businesses that is successful today. Older people also has more experience so it isn't surprising. However, now it is harder to start a successful business due to more competition.

That was pretty interesting. I had no idea that those brands were actually established by 'old' people. I feel that nowadays the possibility of starting out as an entrepreneur has been made a bit simpler thanks to the internet and the myriad of possibilities it offers. For instance you can simply set up an online shop rather than a physical one, and that tends to be much more affordable. So younger people can become entrepreneurs more easily nowadays in my opinion. Having said that experience and responsibility matter, and that comes with people who are a bit older. Funds may also be more available to such people, and so you can become an entrepreneur at any age.

Yay so there is still hope for this 37 year old? LOL

I think success really is not about age, but about certain personality types and specific characteristics. One of the things a person needs is the ability to keep on trying no matter how hard it gets or how many failures you have had.

Most people fail when they try something new, what counts is whether you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try again.

This is why I think a lot of people find success when they are a bit older. They spend a lot of time failing and trying again. It takes some time before they get it right.

Entrepreneurship, in my opinion, has nothing to do with age. I saw one entrepreneur that is already cashing huge sums of money at the age of 14. He had to quit school and focus and never had regret for it. So, making money from becoming an entrepreneur has got nothing to do with age.

I fully agree that entrepreneurship has nothing to do with age. I know of young businessmen who started business when they were in grade school. One example in the US are the kids selling lemonade. And in this digital age, young entrepreneurs are the fashion now.

I started my entrepreneurial journey many years ago, at the age of 25. I started my own company and was rewarded... by the failure of that company. My second and third attempts to start my own company also failed. Thanks to the lessons learned, I launched my company and thanks to the amazing clients I have worked with over the years, I have been able to grow my company by helping others build marketing infrastructures and enjoy long-term growth. Motivation, determination, and inspiration matter a lot. Check out Ross Levinsohn profile his life journey and what he has accomplished is impressive.
