What would you buy?

So here is my situation. I have one working computer (as the other one suddenly died) that I use for my writing projects, articles etc. But, my daughter also likes to use my computer for her homework, games, etc. At this point, I don't want to purchase a brand new computer as it's not in the budget. So I have the option of an eBay computer, reconditioned from reputable source (staples.com, etc) or a tablet.

I need to be able to access my sites online.

I would love to go with a laptop of some kind as those are very nice to use and portable and can usually pick up wifi in a hot spot, so it would be good for on the go and travel.

I'm worried about buying from eBay. Are those computers really any good? Did you ever get a good computer deal from there?

Everyone is getting tablets this year, but I don't really know if it would be feasible to use a tablet to write articles or manage a forum. I'm assuming they have some kind of on screen keyboard app that you use. But i'm more accustomed to using a keyboard. Is there a way to plug in a USB type keyboard? (I'm guessing no).

So those are my concerns.

Anyway, which one of these ideas would you choose? Or, if there is another alternative, I'd love to hear it.

When buying from eBay, only deal with a seller who has at least a 99% positive reputation as those people are proven to deliver the best products. Anyone else would be risky to buy from.

If you are accustomed to using a traditional keyboard, then a laptop or desktop even all in one might work for you. The tablet option is mostly for reading ebooks and surfing Youtube or watching Netflix movies. It won't be good for writing or doing more than just checking emails.

Do you have access to wifi? If so, a small tablet might be the ideal solution as you can multi task and have lots of entertainment options.

I have a tablet for my personal use but my office computer is a laptop aside from our home desktop. I'd say the tablet is not really good for writing, laptop or desktop is still the choice because it's not easy to type on the virtual keyboard (especially for me because I type with the touch-method (not looking at the keyboard). And with eBay, I cannot comment because I have no experience yet. But our policy when it comes to electronic items is not to buy online. Coincidentally, we are right now going to purchase a new laptop that is a promo in Lazada - the most popular online store in our country. But we contacted the laptop's dealer and we are waiting for their quotation so we would buy from them instead of from the online store.
