My search settings keep changing

Though my preferred search engine provider is Google, my search is set for something else (a no name search site that resembles AOL). I don't remember downloading any software though I do share my computer with someone else and I believe they downloaded the fb downloader which installed the search bar/changed my settings. I've changed my search back to google.com numerous times on all my browsers but everytime I log back in, my search is still this fbdownloader search.

Sounds like you have spyware that is changing it. You should run something like spyware search and destroy.

I agree that you need to run something. Get it taken care of before it messes up even more.

I checked my Control panel add/remove programs tab and found that it was a toolbar as well as a program. Since uninstalling, the situation is resolved. Though now, I'm having more problems with Chrome since installing plug ins. Everytime I go to Youtube, there is a HUGE banner ad at the top of the page and I know that is not coming from Youtube as they don't have that type of advertising on the site when I use Firefox. Can't figure out which plug in is showing me the ad though.

Scan with Malwarebytes and then follow up with CCleaner to get rid of your history.

Any extension you download on Chrome carries the risk of infecting your computer. Just uninstall the most recent extensions and any toolbars that may have accompanied and the issue should be resolved.
