    What would it take to start or run a host company? What type of resources would you need?

    I had a hosting company once. I had like 5-10 paying clients. The worst was this $5.95 client who worked in the same building as me. He took advantage of me constantly by asking how to do things, how he can do that, how to upgrade, etc, etc. I spent more time helping him than anything else and it frustrated me to no end for only $5.95 a month. I sold all the clients and shut it down.

    sJust from my own experience as a freelance writer, I found that if a buyer pays more, they are easier to deal with. I know that is probably reverse of what you would expect. But if a buyer pays $75 for something, they have the money to spare. If they're only paying $3.00, they probably barely have that dollar and will try to over-manage it and as the seller that's going to make your job difficult if they are interfering every five minutes with instructions. The one dollar means way more to the $3 buyer than the $75 does to the bigger buyer spending it. I'm not saying the big buyer won't expect a high quality job, but they will also let you do your job without trying to over manage you at it. Possibly my point is, just go after the big fish.

    I googled this resellerpanel and it looks like you can sign up free. Though there is a charge per service sold?


    there is no charge it's 100% free you set your own price & you can manage every thing there & in plus a ready made website with your own prices

    It would cost too much, you know all the technical stuffs used in hosting, you have to provide 24x7 support, make sure your server doesn't go down..... you should have another server to cover this.. so you have to cover lots of risk too.

    Start with a Reseller Account for a Newbie.Its much cost efficient and affordable.I used HostGator reseller option to offer web hosting to my clients.That's way too cheap and good resulting. But it was just a start,Spend as you go,that will be much good

    And, did you earn well with Reseller account on HostGator?


    It was not that big,i told you it was just a start.But good to try it out for an initial setup.Now i own a stable private server and i even offer cloud and Reseller hosting also.So ,that's it ;all the Reseller plans are good for a start ,then you should go for Master Reseller or Server Ownerships.

    - you need to understand how to manage your clients accounts
    - you need to be able to hire skilled people or should have tech knowledge in linux unless you select some cpanel reseller account all in one (ie namecheap, hostgator)
    - you need good billing software like whmcs
    - domain
    - ideas on how to promote hosting and get custommers

    I am sure anyone can start a hosting company, all he/she needs are desire and capital.

    Initially it can be quite expensive to operate a web hosting company, you must have a good start up capital.

    In my case, i lost around $105 in reseller account costs and $12 in domain cost + a few days of computer work (24 hours a day), untill it started to earn little bit back.

    I have a little hosting company. It's very small I have only one free client though. I offer free hosting for my affiliate script. By the way, it was free.. ;)
