The seo job I found the toughest on the planet. We in seo learn a lot and use good and also bad means to rank better in search results. We do the hard work of learning the act and bring websites up in rankings. Then suddenly Google rolls out an algorithm and most of us go at the starting point. This is interesting but can be very stressful at some times. Even they who use good techniques in seo will agree with this. They too have somewhere been panalyzed by Google. The success in seo is like melting ice in our hands. What are your thoughts about the seo job??

I agree that Google Algo can be very frustrating and that is why IMers should not rely solely to SEO for traffic.. There are a lot of ways to get traffic other than doing SEO. You can do social media, build your list through newsletter marketing, do PPC, and a whole lot more...

Well, this particular industry happens to have a huge black box, but it's just another information intensive field. The basics haven't really changed in years, and the major changes are either spam algorithms or something like mobile search. I'd guess that stuff changes about as fast in some fields of computer programming...
If you mess up in SEO, it's not like people are dying or something. There are fields like that too. A friend of mine was a UI guy in medical field, and even they had requirements that were strict as heck...
I would think that diving in a huge open sewer is tougher. Saw this in telly. Apparently there's not that many guys who can even be paid to do that...

SEO is surely one of the toughest jobs in IT... Why? Because the work done by optimizers is dependent upon what Google does and a slight mistake can be tough on the website of clients or businesses... So, a lot of thought and careful planning has to be applied in this field as this is an ever changing process.... Then, there is the question of paid marketing and how businesses wish to come on the first pages instead of through organic search...

Do you mean to say that even if you are an SEO specialist you can still make terrible mistakes that can hinder the growth of the site of your client? I understand that being dependent on Google and another other search engines is not an easy job because it needs continuous research so you will be up to date with developments in the search engine industry. But I guess having friends in the SEO industry will greatly help.

SEO is suitable for someone who loves and enjoys challenge. Definitely its not an easy job by any means. But if you have the confidence to win the challenge SEO will become more interesting to you. And like all jobs, it has ups and down.

I think it was last month when there was an interview of 2 SEO specialist on the evening news. The 2 SEO specialist said that SEO is the biggest thing this year and their job is increasing with work. But the rewards are great, according to them. They did not mention the difficulty because understandably, SEO is not an exact science that sometimes your client will think that you are just guessing with the methods that you are employing.
