What are some good ways to make my pins rank better in Google?

What SEO tips can you give to me? I'm using tags and descriptions on every pin. I just want to know if there's something more I can be doing for SEO.

Pinterest is a high value site that has lots of pull with Google search but all the links leading off it are no follow, so they won't help you rank better. Though your pins will always rank well, if you add keywords.

I have seen that term no-follow again which is very confusing to me. When you say no-follow does that mean the search engines will ignore the link that you had pinned? Anyway, I guess a pin that you leave in Pinterest is already a way of getting traffic for the users who will be interested on your link. When someone clicks on your link then that is real traffic that goes to your site.

Pinterest can really come in handy. With a attractive name that plays on words and a mechanic that appeals to a broad base of users, the new social network seems to be pushing all the right buttons.

1. BUILD BACKLINKS TO YOUR WEBSITE
While Pinterest can allow you to exponentially grow the viewership of content posted, it can also create a huge amount of backlinking for your site. In SEO terms, a backlink is an invaluable thing to have, as search engines create page rankings by taking into account how many outside links lead people back to your site. With proper usage of Pinterest, you easily create many of these useful backlinks to your site.

2. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF KEYWORD TARGETING
Another integral part of a solid SEO strategy is keyword targeting. In order to do this effectively, you must use keywords frequently in your content that your target audience is searching for. This increases your page rank when those keywords are searched.

3. LINK BUILDING USING THE PIN IT BUTTON
Pinterest has a “pin it” button similar to the Facebook “like” button and Twitter’s “tweet” button. You can add a “pin it” button to your blog so users can share your images on Pinterest with a link back to your site. This gives you another opportunity to build backlink.

4. IMPROVE YOUR SOCIAL SIGNALS (AND RANKINGS)
We know that social signals are factored into Google’s and Bing’s organic search algorithms. Pinterest provides yet another opportunity for your visitors, prospects and customers to generate social signals (Tweets, Likes, Shares, Google +1’s, and now Pins). Social signals indicate to Google that people want to socialize your content with people they have relationships with, which signals that your content is relevant.

5. INCREASE YOUR RANKINGS AND PROMINENCE IN LOCAL SEARCH
The meteoric rise of Pinterest means it will become more and more relevant to local search results. To gain the full benefit of this opportunity, you can create a board highlighting local attractions of your business’ city or region. Pin images of landmarks related to your business, like your storefront. This information illustrates your connection to the area and lets local customers know where to visit and find you.

6. GAIN BETTER INSIGHTS INTO ANALYTICS FOR TARGETING
Using Pinterest for Social SEO can also help with better reporting in your analytics. In your analytics report you can see which pieces of Pinterest content earned a referral click. 1. Pinterest is a content curation platform. Pinterest is a platform to find great contents. Pinterest can also provide backlinks and social signals. Use made for Pinterest images. Made for Pinterest images refer to the images that are high quality (do not contain water mark, are not pixelated, are visually stunning). Give a proper title and descriptions for your pins. Use primary keywords in the title and description. Try to get as many repins and likes as you can.
